Abstract

The C-shaped hook lifts the coils by means of a central axis suspended from an overhead travelling crane etc. Its balancing and damping mechanism is hydraulic, with a pressure accumulator and hydraulic ram or similar equipment. The accumulator can be pressurised by nitrogen, and the balancing ram (27) piston rod (28) can pivot at its free end on the arms (9) forming part of the suspension system. The ram itself can be mounted in a ball-and-socket joint. The head of the ram can have a fixed nut in which a bush screws, carrying a sealing ring on the inside, and also acting as a stop to limit the piston stroke. A ball cage with two scraper rings can be fitted inside a bore in the bush.
