Abstract

The pipe clip consists of a wide flexible metallic band, fitting around the tubes and having its free ends (7, 8) bent so that they form retention housings for the thicker jaws (3, 4) which transmit the loads of the clamping bolts (5). each end of the band is first bent to form parallel faces (7, 8). A central section (13) is then bent at right angles away from the opposite face and then again at right angles downwards (17). Each jaw (3, 4) has its central portion cut back to fit the rebated housing (13) so formed and when fitted is firmly retained in position. A ribbed (16) extension (2) of the same width as the band is spot welded on the inside of the band and slides under the other end so that the assembly completely surrounds the tubes when fitted. Segmental cut-outs (11) in band and jaws allow a degree of flexibility.
