Abstract

A female mould is produced by laying glas fibre sheet over wooden formers, and surrounding with concrete. This is used to produce the male mould in a similar manner, allowing for the thickness of the outer skin, a sheet of ABS plastic having a wood or leather texture. This is shaped over the male mould, using vacuum thermoforming. The outer skin is placed in the female mould and a piece of heavy resin bonded chipboard placed inside, flush with its interior. Rigid polyurethane foam is pumped through a central hole to fill the interior. Holes are provided for fixing dowels.
