Abstract

The system lifts a vessel out of the water and places it in position for careening. Part of a lifting vessel (3) is immersed in the water until it has reached a predetermined depth, and the craft is moored above this part so that it assumes a careening position on being lifted out of the water. The lifting operation is effected by blowing the ballast out of the submerged portion of the lifting vessel. The immersion angle of the craft can be restricted by attaching floats to the submerged end.
