Abstract

The lock is for insertion within the thickness of door panels during factory prodn. and is designed to obviate lock refitment due to change of function of the door unit, and accomplishes this by providing a mechanism that simply adapts to form a basic security lock or a lever handle lock with or without dead locking. The mechanism embodies a sliding bolt (6) capable of being withdrawn against spring pressure. A dormant locking bolt (26) is controlled by a cylinder lock (36), and components allow the withdrawal of the sliding bolt after unlocking of the dormant bolt which is truncated so as to remain within the housing.
