Abstract

1495545 Releasable fastenings AARDEE SPRING & LOCK CO Ltd 6 Feb 1975 [7 Nov 1973] 51665/73 Heading E2A A releasable fastening includes a first component having a bolt 3 movable by remotely actuable means (e.g. a solenoid 4, pneumatically or hydraulically) into and out of engagement with the keeper 5 of a second component which also includes a key operated release 6, 7 for moving the bolt 3 out of engagement with the keeper. Preferably the first component is mounted in a door jamb and the second in a door. A modified bolt (not shown) with the bevel of the bolt on the opposite side to that shown may be provided with a trigger releasable by the solenoid or the key operated release, which trigger prevents the bolt from disengaging from the keeper 5 when pressure is brought to bear on a curved surface at the end of the bolt. Several solenoids in several locks may be connected for simultaneous use in e.g. emergency exits.
