Abstract

The grid of a valve in a measuring circuit is connected through a selector (51) to suitable matching resistors for sources of negative ions (N). The valve cathode is biased at -60 volts while the screen is supplied with +60 volts through a potentiometer (P1) which is used to null the output. The anode is isolated from potentials and is connected through a potentiometer (P2) to an integrated circuit pre-amplifier (CI) whose output is connected to a power amplifier comprising four transistors (T1, 2, 3, 4). The output is converted to a voltage by a resistor (R4) in series with a capacitor (C4) for application to a digital voltmeter (VN).
