Abstract
The starting matl contains (all wt. %) 6-15 In, 0.2-8 Sn, balance Ag; the alloy ay also contain 0.01-1 Mg and/or Cu. Alternatively, the alloy may consists of 6-15 In, 0.01-1 Mg, balance Ag, or 6-15 In, 0.01-1 Mg and 0.01-1 Ni. Although the existing silver oxide-cadmium oxide matls. have excellent props as electrical contacts, cadmium constitutes a danger to the health of workers and thus an alternative matl is required. The Ag-In-Sn oxides and Ag-In-Mg oxides possess excellent resistance to burning-off, welding and arc-erosion and are at least as good as Ag-Cd oxide contacts.
