Abstract

The hot water tank (12) has a hot water draw-off pipe (14) and a cold water feed pipe (13) with a connection between them (19) incorporating an electromagnetic valve (23). In the top is an air entry pipe (24) closed by a float (24). For night time heating, a clock (16) and contactor (15) switch on the heater (18) open the cold water valve (22) and closes the by pass valve (23). When the tank is full, the float (25) rises, closes the air entry, and operates a mercury switch (26) which actuates the contactor and the cold water valve (22) is closed. This system operates for delivery of hot water at night. during daytime, the whole of the contents are delivered through the lower tube (19).
