Abstract

The invention proposes a method and an apparatus for forming a virtually aligned and uniform stack of flat articles (for example food products such as sausage slices) from a non-uniform stack. The non-uniform stack is taken along a conveyor between at least one pair of stack-seizing elements (20, 22) which move in the same direction but at such different speeds that they gradually run together, seize the articles and bring them into a virtually aligned, uniform stack. The elements lie against the front and rear of the stack, and the side of the stack can be seized by providing further converging, positionally fixed apparatus parts (24).
