Abstract
A method of producing a tool steel article having a good combination of hardness and toughness characterized in that a previously alloyed pulverized alloy filler of the following composition, in percent by weight, is densified; 1.5 to 1.6 carbon, 3.5 to 4.5 chromium, 2.5 to 3.5 vanadium, 9 to 11 tungsten, 4.5 to 5.5 molybdenum, from 8.0 to 12.5 of cobalt, up to 1 of manganese, up to 1 of silicon, from 0.02 to 0.08 of nitrogen and the rest of iron, said densification being carried out after heating of said charge and with said load at a high temperature to produce a densified article with a density greater than 95% of the theoretical one.
