Abstract
A motor-compressor comprises a vertical crank-shaft 6, an axial thrust bearing disc 15 fixed to the shaft's upper end, and a centrifuging disc 16 fixed above the bearing disc 15 so that oil delivered to the top of the shaft through lubricating passages (24), 25, (26) is flung on to an enclosing housing (not shown). The centrifuging disc 16 has an upwardly inclined portion over part of its periphery. This portion has a lower edge 33 situated below the lower surface of the bearing disc 15 to receive oil leaving the lower surface and convey it to the upper rim 32 where it is flung off. To balance the crank portion 7 and reciprocating parts, balance weights 35 are secured to the underside of a radially extending arcuate portion 34 of the bearing disc and the short-circuit ring 39 of the rotor is provided with a thickened portion 40. The shaft 5 is rotatable in a motor carrier 11 and in an insert 38 pressed into the carrier 11 and defining silencing chambers therewith.
