[Also in Divisions F2 and H2] A domestic vegetable peeling machine comprises a base 10 containing an electric motor 20 driving, through reduction gearing contained in a resiliently mounted internal casing 34, an output shaft 38. On. the base is removably seated an abrasive lined tub 14, held in place by a clip 88, pivoted on the base and clipping resiliently at 92 into a notch on the tub cover 94. The tub and cover are prevented from rotating by projections 84, 96 engaging in slots 86, 98 in the base. An abrasive disc 18 having a projection 78 extending chordally from near the edge to approximately abreast of the centre is removably mounted on splines for rotation on a spindle 46 extending through a sealed bearing 44 in the bottom of the tub. Shaft 38 carries a rigid driving unit 36 the upper face of which in a peripheral annular area carries a series of triangular-profiled driving projections 50 having thrust flanks 52 in radial planes, the other side 54 being sloping. The troughs between the projections 50 are joined to the central area 56 by facets 58 situated on a frustroconical surface. The lower end of spindle 36 carries a driving tip 48 comprising a rigid central portion 60 over which is moulded a rubber crown 62 having projections 64 of complementary shape to projections 50 on the driving unit, the crests of the projections being joined to the central area by facets 72 complementary to facets 58. In the recesses between the projections 64 are radial grooves 70 to permit easy disengagement of the coupling.
