Definitions
- the invention relates to a projectile, which consists partly of a frangible material, for a short-track munitions.
- a projectile is out, for example US 2002/0005138 A1 known.
- Short-track ammunition has the purpose that larger caliber can be used even in smaller training areas. Structural measures generate a greater drop in speed. This can be implemented with a low bullet weight. Another possibility is a modification of the projectile outer geometry.
- GD spin stabilization
- a deliberate pressure reduction during the firing process which the bullet is accelerated less.
- Frangible is a property of special projectiles and means that the bullet material is designed so that the bullets fragment into very small pieces when hitting hard targets.
- German means frangible breakable.
- the English term has also prevailed in German-speaking countries.
- Frangible ammunition already exists in enormous variations.
- projectiles with a polymer matrix or with a metal matrix are known.
- the point here is the crumbling of the bullet into the smallest particles after hitting a hard surface.
- the particles have a deep cross-sectional load. This creates only a minimal hazard potential for nearby objects.
- Frangible projectiles are relatively delicate to handle, with larger calibers, the radial force which occurs due to the swirl can already lead to the bursting of the projectile in the air.
- FIG. 1 shows a cartridge with a frangible projectile 12 according to the prior art.
- the frangible projectile 12 is inserted in a jacket 13, with the ogive of the projectile 12 protruding from the jacket 13. After the impact of the frangible projectile 12 on, for example, a steel plate breaks the frangible projectile 12 to dust 14.
- the invention has the object of developing a projectile according to the preamble of claim 1 so that the above-mentioned disadvantages are avoided.
- the projectile consists of a jacket made of brass, the jacket, viewed in the direction of flight, has a front cylindrical receiving space and a rear cylindrical receiving space, both receiving spaces are arranged coaxially to the projectile longitudinal axis and separated by a partition wall, the partition the bottom of the front Recording space forms and in the front receiving space a core of a frangible material is used, the Core protrudes with its tip from the front receiving space and in the region of the partition at least one circumferential on the jacket predetermined breaking point is introduced into the mantle, it comes through the modified geometry to no loss of precision and the internal ballistic load is not so great that this destroys the Bullet leads.
- a groove or spiral formed in the front room can also have further predetermined breaking points.
- a flare is arranged in the rear receiving space.
- the rear recording room is suitable for this purpose and the flare moves the center of gravity even slightly desired backwards, whereby the trajectory is improved.
- the core is preferably glued or pressed into the front receiving space. Both are fixing methods that offer and lead to the desired anchorages.
- the core has chamfers or grooves running parallel to the projectile longitudinal axis on its outer surface from the rear end to the front end of the jacket.
- a bore connecting the front receiving space with the rear receiving space is arranged in the dividing wall. This also dissipates the compressed air.
- a blind hole may be introduced, which communicates with the front receiving space. This blind hole is used for pressure reduction.
- two predetermined breaking points circulating on the jacket are introduced into the jacket in the region of the dividing wall, whereby a predetermined breaking point is introduced on the rear end of the dividing wall, viewed in the direction of flight.
- the predetermined breaking points are preferably introduced at right angles to the projectile longitudinal axis and are formed in cross-section V-shaped or U-shaped. These predetermined breaking points improve the decomposition behavior.
- the inner wall of the front receiving space has one or more notches parallel to the projectile axis or spiral-shaped notches. This improves the anchoring of the frangible core in the front receiving space.
- FIG. 1 shows the state of the art and is described above.
- FIG. 2 shows an embodiment of a projectile according to the invention, consisting of a jacket 4 made of brass and a frangible core 1.
- the jacket 4 has, seen in the direction of flight 19, a front 4a and a rear cylindrical receiving space 4b in the bullet tail 11.
- the front receiving space 4 a was introduced from the front and the rear receiving space 4 b from behind in the jacket 4.
- Both receiving spaces 4a, 4b are arranged coaxially to the projectile longitudinal axis 15 of the projectile and are separated by a partition wall 16.
- the partition wall 16 forms the bottom of the receiving space 4a.
- In the front receiving space 4a of the frangible core is used, preferably via a press fit.
- the frangible core 1 protrudes with its front tip 17 from the front receiving space 4a, or the jacket 4 out.
- a flare (not shown in the figure) is introduced in the rear receiving space 4b.
- Adjacent to the partition wall 16 a peripheral on the jacket 4 predetermined breaking point 2 is introduced into the jacket 4.
- This predetermined breaking point 2 is introduced at right angles to the projectile longitudinal axis 15 and can, as shown, be rectangular in cross-section. However, preferred is a V-shaped predetermined breaking point 2, as shown in the FIG. 4 is shown.
- the outer geometry of the projectile thus consisting of a frangible core 1 and a jacket 4 and largely corresponds to a known and proven short-track munitions of the applicant. This meets the requirements with regard to precision, loading safety and trajectory.
- the environmental hazard is due to two Systems reduced.
- a core 1 is inserted into the jacket 4, which consists of frangible material.
- a frangible core is understood to mean a kernel that breaks down when hitting a hard target, for example into a dust.
- 11 predetermined breaking points 2 are attached to the projectile tail, so that the residual mass of the individual parts corresponds at most to the mass of a conventional small caliber projectile.
- the jacket 4 of the projectile is preferably made of brass. With brass as a shell, the bullet of the invention has largely decomposed on impact to dust. This was surprising and not predicted for the skilled person.
- the frangible core 1 When the bullet 5 hits a hard target 17 (see FIG. 3 ), the frangible core 1 is pressed into the shell 4.
- the frangible core 1 suddenly produces a high hydrostatic pressure when pressed in (see the arrows 20 in FIG FIG. 3 ). This causes a fragmentation of the majority of the projectile.
- the brass of the shell 4 behaves naturally brittle at such a short loading period.
- the multiaxial load condition when bursting the frangible core 1 helps that the brass of the shell 4 behaves brittle. As a result, the impact energy is extremely reduced and almost destroyed.
- the frangible core 1 of the projectile is a subcaliber projectile, which is simply inserted into the front receiving space 4a.
- the attachment between shell 4 and frangible core 1 can be implemented by means of adhesive or interference fit. If a press fit is chosen, side chamfers on the core can drain the compressed air. Another possibility is the derivation of the compressed air when setting the projectile through a hole in the projectile longitudinal axis 15 through the partition wall 16 or through a blind hole in the partition, so that the pressure can be minimized.
- the bullet tail 11 is still made of brass, as this is suitable for pressing light sets.
- FIG. 4 shows another embodiment of a projectile according to the invention 5, consisting of a jacket 4 made of brass and a frangible core 1.
- the jacket 4 also has, seen in the direction of flight 19, a front 4a and a rear cylindrical receiving space 4b in the bullet tail 11.
- the front receiving space 4 a was introduced from the front and the rear receiving space 4 b from behind in the jacket 4.
- Both receiving spaces 4a, 4b are arranged coaxially to the projectile longitudinal axis 15 of the projectile and are separated by a partition wall 16.
- the partition wall 16 is substantially thicker in this embodiment than in the embodiment according to FIG. 2 educated. Again, the partition wall 16 forms the bottom of the receiving space 4a.
- the frangible core 1 In the front receiving space 4a of the frangible core 1 is used, preferably via a press fit.
- the frangible core 1 protrudes here with its front tip 17 from the front receiving space 4a, and the jacket 4 out.
- a flare (not shown in the figure) may be introduced.
- predetermined breaking point 2 b In the embodiment shown here, in addition, seen in the weft direction, at the front portion of the partition wall 16 a predetermined breaking point 2 b is introduced.
- These predetermined breaking points 2a, 2b are introduced at right angles to the projectile longitudinal axis 15 and are formed in cross-section V-shaped.

Description
US 2002/0005138 A1 bekannt.
- Frangible Munition existiert bereits in enorm vielen Variationen.
