Definitions

  • the invention relates to a brush manufacturing device according to the preamble of claim 1.
  • the invention further relates to a brush body holder to be used in such a brush manufacturing device and a method for manufacturing a brush.
  • Brush manufacturing devices are high-precision machines in which individual parts of the brush are manufactured and further processed in subsequent work stations.
  • the brush itself has a brush main body which, in the case of a toothbrush, has a handle, a neck and a head.
  • the head has openings in a predetermined hole pattern into which tufts of bristles are stuffed. These tufts of bristles are then attached on the brush side.
  • the so-called "stuffing" can take place in the complete main body of the brush or in a part of the main body of the brush, for example a holding plate which has the necessary openings for the tufts of bristles. This retaining plate is stuffed and then connected to the rest of the brush body.
  • the present invention relates to brush manufacturing devices which further process both holding plates and finished brush main bodies or parts of the brush main body.
  • Both the main brush body itself, which has openings for inserting bristles or into which a small holding plate with the bristles is inserted, and small holding plates or, more generally, prefabricated parts which later also define the main brush body are referred to below as the brush body.
  • the brush manufacturing device according to the invention presented below is also not limited to the type of attachment of the tufts of bristles to the brush body. It can be attached with an anchor or without an anchor.
  • the invention also relates to brush manufacturing devices in which one or more of the following steps are carried out in the manufacture of bristles: stuffing, fastening the bristles to the brush body, processing (trimming, rounding off) the bristle ends.
  • Brush manufacturing devices must be designed to be very flexible, i.e. they must be able to be converted very quickly.
  • the background is that the number of brushes to be manufactured is increasing, as is the cycle rate.
  • the brush bodies have to be positioned very precisely, despite the high speed in the device. This means that positioning units in the individual stations have to be precisely adjusted when the device has to be converted to a new brush.
  • the decisive factor here is that the so-called positioning units, with which the brush bodies are clamped in the respective processing station, are precisely adjusted.
  • the brush bodies have a different outer geometry on their outer peripheral edge (side edge), the adjustment is complicated.
  • the brush body holder then has a relatively simple outer contour on which the brush manufacturing device can very easily act, so that centering and positioning takes place quickly. It is important here that several different brush bodies have different receiving contours in different brush body holders, ie have individualized receptacles. However, the different brush body holders have the same contour at those points where they are positioned and held in the brush manufacturing device. This means that the time-consuming adjustment of the positioning units can either be completely eliminated or made simpler despite the different brush bodies.
  • the proposed brush body holders have openings that taper slightly conically from their front side to the back side, which are undersized in relation to the external geometry of the brush body to be inserted therein. This clamps the brush bodies inserted from the front like wedges.
  • the EP 0 678 253 A1 discloses a brush manufacturing device in which a brush body holder is provided which can grip a brush body by means of two gripping arms to transport the brush body, the brush body holder having a mechanical stop against moving out the brush body.
  • the brush body holder with the brush body inserted forms a unit that can be transported to a further processing station and positioned there in order to further process the brush body.
  • the DE 197 06 315 A1 shows a brush manufacturing apparatus also having a brush body holder for holding a brush body, the brush body holder including a stopper for holding the brush body.
  • the U.S. 1,885,651 , the EP 0 304 110 A1 , the BE 749 940 A2 and the EP 0 195 134 A1 also disclose brush manufacturing apparatus and brush manufacturing methods using rigid brush body holders.
  • the object of the invention is to create a brush manufacturing device and brush body holder and a manufacturing method with which the manufacture of brushes can be further simplified and accelerated.
  • a brush manufacturing device with the characterizing features of claim 1.
  • the plate-like shape allows easy manufacture, but also easy and safe positioning in a first plane, namely the support plane in the device or in the stations of the device.
  • the mutually movable portions can be spaced apart to receive the brush body holder and then moved back toward each other to hold the brush body.
  • each brush body holder forms a unit together with the brush body or brush bodies, which the device runs through in individual stations or in a single station.
  • the brush body holders are therefore temporary, mobile holders, which are assigned to the brush body and not to the device.
  • the special feature of the brush body holders is that they are not inserted from the front like the previously considered brush body holders and are only fixed in the brush body holder in the forward direction by clamping (wedge effect). Rather, the brush body holders have one or more mechanical stops to prevent the brush body from moving out.
  • the direction in which the stop or stops acts is easiest to define as the direction from the back of the brush body towards the Front.
  • the brush body holder has a back and a front which correspond to the back and the front of the brush body accommodated therein, ie are oriented in the same direction.
  • the stop achieves a mechanical locking against the brush body being pulled out forwards. This is particularly advantageous when working on the tufts of bristles that have already been inserted into the brush body. If the tufts of bristles are trimmed or rounded, this can result in tensile forces that detach the brush body from its bristle holder.
  • the positioning unit should only act on the brush body holder, so that it can benefit from the external dimensions or external geometries of the bristle holder, which are always the same and are independent of the type of brush body, and no longer have to be realigned.
  • a transport unit can be provided which acts exclusively on the brush body holder and transports the unit through the device.
  • the transport unit thus also benefits from the external dimensions and external geometries of the brush body holder that are always the same, regardless of the geometry of the brush body accommodated in it.
  • the transport unit can have movable claws which grip the brush body holders laterally and receive them in order to move the brush body holders to or from the positioning units or to or from the positioning unit.
  • the transport unit therefore preferably engages on the outside, on the edge, i.e. on the peripheral edge of the brush body holder, although other design variants are also conceivable.
  • the brush body holders can also have one or more openings into which pins of the transport unit can engage in order to remove the brush bodies from the positioning unit and transport them further.
  • the brush body holders are designed in such a way that the brush bodies accommodated in them are held in all directions, specifically without play. This means that even if the brush bodies are inserted into the brush body holders from the rear, they cannot fall out of them when the unit is lifted.
  • the brush body holder In order to simplify the production of the brush body holder, but in particular to the positioning and transport, ie detecting the To facilitate brush body holders, they have at least one flat contact surface for the positioning unit and/or transport unit on their side edge. However, even better are two opposing, parallel planar contact surfaces and/or an opening for engaging the positioning unit and/or the transport unit.
  • the receiving opening can have a shape that is at least partially complementary to the outer circumference of the brush body.
  • the receiving opening does not have to be completely complementary, rather it can be advantageous to only provide sections as contact surfaces. This reduces friction and jamming of parts to each other. Also, the production of the brush body holder is particularly complex and precise only at the contact points. Thus, manufacturing is also reduced when the contact area is smaller.
  • One embodiment of the invention provides that the brush body holder is designed in such a way that it engages in a latching connection with the at least one brush body that is used.
  • a locking connection is particularly advantageous because it combines rapid insertion and removal of the brush body from the brush body holder and mechanical locking.
  • the brush body holder or sections of the brush body holder can be made of elastic material, for example plastic or metal. When the brush body is picked up, the sections press against and clamp the brush body itself.
  • the latching connection is consequently designed in such a way that not only is there a form fit with the brush body, but it is also clamped.
  • the slot forms two spaced legs which are resiliently resilient to one another to form the snap-in connection.
  • the slot can go to the side edge of the brush body holder, i.e. it is even continuous on only one side or one end.
  • the two legs are thus elastically connected to one another on one side via a web and are preferably connected to one another in one piece, the web then being primarily responsible for the mobility of the legs relative to one another.
  • the legs run out freely on the opposite ends.
  • the slot is continuous goes through the brush body holder, so that several sections arise, which can also be separate parts.
  • the sections are supported by at least one spring element, in particular a metallic spring, in an elastically yielding manner in relation to one another in order to form the snap-in connection.
  • the brush body holder is formed from two separate halves which are coupled via a pivot connection and at least one spring or via two springs, for example. This spring action results in a resilience with which the snap-in connection can be realized.
  • This has the advantage that the elasticity of the holding areas does not have to be too great, for example the sections or parts of the brush body holder can be made of metal, making the holders more durable.
  • the brush body holder has a plate-like base through which the slot extends and a retaining edge projecting from the base, the resilient sections each having a portion of the plate-like base and a projecting holder edge such that the retaining edges of the sections spring toward and away from each other.
  • the positioning unit When the unit consisting of brush body and brush body holder is inserted, the positioning unit optionally prevents a movement of the mutually movable sections towards an open position and thus mechanically secures the brush body against removal.
  • the brush body holder should preferably clamp the brush body accommodated in it without play and of course hold it positively at least in the lateral direction and to the front.
  • this preferably no longer acts directly on the brush body during further processing.
  • the brush body is only secured in the device via the brush body holder.
  • the invention also relates to a brush body holder for a brush manufacturing device according to the invention, wherein the brush body holder has a receiving opening for a brush body to be inserted therein, which is defined by a holding edge, the holding edge having at least one inwardly projecting stopper.
  • This stop means that it is no longer possible for the brush body to be simply pulled out of the holder within the brush manufacturing device during processing.
  • the brush body holder is slit, and the slit also runs through the receiving opening, so that mutually movable, in particular elastically flexible sections are created which allow the brush body to be inserted and removed, which form a non-destructively releasable latching connection with a brush body and which press against the brush body when it is received
  • the brush body holder can have elastically yielding sections which form a non-destructively releasable latching connection with the associated brush body.
  • the brush body holder has a plate-shaped lower part from which integrally formed holder edges protrude.
  • the slot divides the base and retaining rim into two sections or halves which can be pushed towards and away from each other to increase or decrease the size of the slot.
  • the sections are resilient to one another, either via a spring or via the integral connection of the sections at one end to form a U-shape.
  • the invention preferably relates to a set of several brush body holders which have identical external geometries but different receiving openings for different brush bodies.
  • the invention relates to a method for producing a brush which has a brush body with openings for receiving bristles, the brush body being part of the finished brush and having a rear side and a front side from which bristles protrude in the finished state of the brush, characterized by following steps: inserting the brush body into a brush body holder which has a mechanical stop to prevent the brush body from moving out of the brush body holder in the direction from the rear to the front,
  • the brush body holder or the numerous brush body holders are not part of the device, but rather temporarily form a unit with their brush bodies in order to be transported through the brush manufacturing device automatically, i.e. not by hand, but via a drive, and finally removed from it again to become, as a unit.
  • the brush bodies are inserted into their brush body holders using a snap-in connection and are held there without play.
  • the play-free mounting refers to all spatial directions.
  • a brush manufacturing device 1 which, in the present example, can carry out various processing steps, although this is not to be understood as limiting.
  • the brush manufacturing manufacturing apparatus has, for example, a receiving table 5 which is rotatable.
  • the shooting table is essentially a parallelepiped that can be rotated around the axis A between four positions.
  • Units of brush body 8 and brush body holder 9 held in positioning units 7 are located on its side surfaces. Different processing steps, which represent processing stations, take place in the four different positions.
  • a filling station 4 is realized in the uppermost position.
  • units of brush body 8 and brush body holder 9 are used in a free positioning unit 7 . This takes place in particular fully automatically.
  • the embodiment shown is only simplified.
  • a tamping takes place in a tamping station, here for example a tamping by means of an anchor.
  • the brush body 8 has a plurality of openings 20 which are filled in succession with a tamping tool 10 .
  • a magazine of bristles is shown with 11, with the reference number 12 a singulator.
  • the brush body and its holder can also be removed together from the receiving table for post-processing steps and fed to a further station where the bristles are, for example, cut or rounded.
  • the device shown is only an example, it can also only carry out one of the aforementioned processing steps or other processing steps and does not have to be realized in a rotating receiving table. Stations connected one after the other via a track can also form a device according to the invention.
  • the positioning unit 7 is shown separately, which is attached to the receiving table, which in this case forms a transport unit.
  • the positioning unit 7 is firmly attached to the receiving table 5 during operation and is an integral part of the device, whereas the units of brush body and brush body holder 8 or 9 are only temporarily in the device and are transported into and out of this before and after processing.
  • brush bodies 8 are main brush bodies which have already been injection molded and have numerous openings 20 into which bristles 15 are stuffed.
  • the brush body holders 9 are designed as standard parts that are essentially plate-shaped and have a flat rear side (also called underside).
  • the back is on the same side as the back of the brush body 8, which is an in figure 2 top to be seen. This top is the side from which the bristles protrude when the brush is finished (see Fig figure 1 ).
  • the brush body holder 9 also has an upper side which faces the same side as the upper side of the brush body 9 .
  • the brush body holder 9 shown in more detail has a simply structured outer geometry with a side edge 20 which has numerous parallel, flat contact surfaces 22, 24. These gripping surfaces 22, 24 can be used to grip or align the units very easily.
  • the brush bodies 8 are held without play in the brush body holders 9, via a snap-in connection.
  • the brush body holder 9 has a receiving opening 30, which is only to the front (see figure 4 ), only to the back (see figure 5 ) or to the front and to the back (in case of a combination of figure 4 and figure 5 ) is open.
  • the receiving opening 30 is defined by a holding edge 32 which rests at least in sections on the side edge 34 of the brush body and presses against it.
  • the holding edge is designed on the inside, at least in sections, with a geometry that is complementary to the shape of the side edge and outer circumference of the brush body, so that the brush body 8 sits firmly in the brush body holder 9 .
  • Sections of the brush body holder 9, here the holder edge which projects upwards in relation to a plate-shaped lower part, are elastic compliantly executed.
  • the entire brush body holder 9 can consist of elastically yielding sections.
  • the brush body holder 9 is slotted.
  • a longitudinal slot 41 which ends in an opening 42, extends to the side edge of the brush body holder, so that two mutually movable sections, here two legs 44, 46 are formed, which are connected to one another by a web 48.

  • the design is such that the brush bodies 8 can be seen from above or in the longitudinal direction (see arrow in figure 4 ) can be snapped into the receiving opening 30.
  • the opening 42 can also serve as a positioning opening in the device.
  • the holding edge 32 can also be subdivided into several small finger-shaped extensions and does not have to consist of two elongated extensions which lie against the brush body 9 over almost the entire side edge.
  • the slot also extends through the receiving opening and the holding edge 32, so that the holding edge, which protrudes in one piece from the plate-shaped lower part of the brush body holder 9, also has several sections.
  • the locking connection is designed in such a way that the retaining edge 32 rests on the upper side of the brush body 8 by having a stop 40 protruding inward in this area (see FIG figure 4 ) which is designed as a kind of protruding lip. This mechanically prevents the brush body from moving upwards, i.e. from the rear to the front, out of the brush body holder 9.
  • the section 50 of the brush body holder 9 that rests against the tip of the brush body can also be used as a stop and positioning aid in the direction of the arrow in figure 4 serve and can also at its top have a stop 52 which prevents the brush body 9 from moving out of the brush body holder upwards.
  • the elastic, mutually movable sections are the two legs 44, 46, which are elastically connected to one another by the intermediate web 48, but it is also possible to work without a slot 41 and only to make the holding edge 32 elastic.
  • the brush body holder can be made of metal or plastic. Production using 3D printing technology (rapid prototyping) is also possible.
  • the brush body holder 9 is designed essentially as shown in FIGS Figures 4 to 6 , However, the two legs 44, 46 are completely separate from each other in that they do not merge into one another in one piece, and the web 48 is missing. As a result, the slot that extends through the brush body holder 9 results in separate sections or parts that are prestressed toward one another by spring elements 50, here metallic tension springs.
