Definitions

  • the invention relates to a device for stapling printed matter formed from collected printed sheets and for trimming the printed products at the open side edges, with a first saddle stitcher having a first stapler and a first cutting machine downstream of the first saddle stitcher and a second saddle stitcher which can be engaged a second stapler and having a second saddle stitcher downstream second cutting machine, and with a transfer element between the erected in series saddle stitchers.
  • a tandem saddle stitcher of the type mentioned is by the EP 1 232 978 A1 known.
  • the first saddle stitcher is also called slave and the second saddle stitcher master.
  • Both saddle stitchers are each provided with a gathering chain or other suitable conveying member, at least one feeder, a stapler, a cutting device and usually with an ejector and a stacker. In the stacker The printed products produced are stacked.
  • the cutting machines are preferably three-knife trimmers and are also called trimmers. After the first stitching machine, the ejector is arranged, with which the printed products are transferred to the first cutting machine.
  • This tandem saddle stitcher can be used optionally in a so-called solo or tandem operation.
  • each cutting machine has an asynchronous motor and each stapler has a servomotor.
  • the servo motors each follow their own asynchronous motor and drive the gathering chain and the feeders of their own saddle stitcher.
  • the two saddle stitchers are connected to each other via the transfer element. They work together clockwise, but the asynchronous motor of the first cutting machine and the ejector of the first cutting machine stand still. In tandem operation, the first cutting machine must not run, otherwise the knives will become dull. The servo motor of the first stapler follows the asynchronous motor of the second cutting machine. The disadvantage here is that there is no way to staple precursors with the first stapler. In tandem operation, the printed products run with the stitching unit stationary through the first stitching machine and are thus not stapled in it. If preliminary products are to be stapled, they must be stapled in another saddle stitcher and created a second time.
  • the pre-published EP - A - 0 917 965 arranges a saddle stitcher for the production of printed products formed from printed sheets, wherein stitching station, folded sheet feeder and collecting chain each have a single drive unit with its own electric motors and a control unit associated therewith, between which data and / or control signals are interchangeable.
  • the invention has for its object to provide a device of the type mentioned above, which allows a stapling of a partial product in the first saddle stitcher connected in series saddle stitchers.
  • the problem is solved according to claim 1.
  • the first cutting machine is disconnected from the main drive in tandem operation.
  • the first cutting machine is thus still.
  • the first stapler is driven by a first saddle stitcher and the first cutting machine associated drive motor and not as previously from the induction motor of the second cutting machine.
  • This makes it possible to straddle sheets on the first saddle stitcher and staple them in the first stitching machine.
  • the pre-stitched partial products can be transported with the transfer element to the investors of the second saddle stitcher.
  • the feeders of the second saddle stitcher place more sheets on the pre-stitched printed product.
  • the stapler of the second saddle stitcher staples the entire printed product and thus the individual sheets of the second saddle stitcher and the pre-stitched sheets of the first saddle stitcher. It is also possible a tandem operation, in which only the partial products of the first saddle stitcher stapled.
  • the other sheets of the second saddle stitcher are then placed only on the pre-stapled product and not stapled.
  • said drive motor is arranged in the first three-knife trimmer. In solo mode, this drive motor is connected via a coupling with the first cutting machine. In tandem operation, the first cutting machine is disconnected from the drive motor.
  • the drive motor drives, for example via a gear assembly to the first stapler, the investors of the first saddle stitcher and the first gathering chain. For example, via a superposition gear from the first saddle stitcher from the transfer element is driven.
  • the drive motor is arranged on the first stapler.
  • the drive motor with the first cutting machine can be coupled.
  • the motor of the first stapler drives the first cutting machine and, for example via a further gear arrangement, the feeder and a conveyor device resp. Saddle chain of the first saddle stitcher.
  • said drive motor is a servomotor and in particular connected via a gear arrangement with other organs of the first saddle stitcher.
  • These driven by Antriebstmotor organs are in particular the gathering chain and investor of the first saddle stitcher.
  • a pre-stitching operation in which the first cutting machine is uncoupled from said main drive and said main drive drives the first stitching machine and a gathering chain and feeder of the first saddle stitcher, wherein an ejector arranged after the first stitcher is disengaged.
  • the stitched partial products can be supplemented in the second saddle stitcher by further sheets to a main product.
  • the second stapler can here the entire product, and thus the staple individual sheets of the second saddle stitcher as well as the pre-stitched sheets of the first saddle stitcher.
  • FIGS. 1 . 3 and 4 show a device 1, which has a first saddle stitcher A and a second saddle stitcher B, which are arranged inline to each other.
  • the two saddle stitchers A and B are connected to each other by a transfer element 2 with each other effective.
  • a transfer element 2 With this transfer element 2, products or partial products of the first saddle stitcher A can be transferred to the second saddle stitcher B.
  • Such a transfer element 2 is for example in the EP 1 232 978 A1 described.
  • the first saddle stitcher A has a gathering chain 3 or another suitable conveying device with which for example printed sheets can be conveyed astride.
  • the conveying direction is in FIG. 3 indicated by an arrow 26 and thus extends from right to left.
  • the first saddle stitcher A also has a plurality of feeders 4, with each of which print sheets are placed on the gathering chain 3.
  • a stapler 5 is arranged, with which the collected sheets can be stapled at its fold F.
  • a per se known ejector 24 is arranged, with which the collected sheets are lifted from the gathering chain 3 and a first cutting machine 6 can be fed.
  • the transport direction after the ejector 24 is in FIG. 4 indicated by the arrow 27.
  • the transport direction in the cutting machine 6 thus takes place at right angles to the transport direction according to arrow 26.
  • the first cutting machine 6 is preferably but not necessarily a three-knife trimmer.
  • a stacker 7 is arranged, with which the cut printed products can be stacked.
  • a conveyor belt 25 is still provided for dispensing the stack.
  • the second saddle stitcher B may be constructed similar or the same as the first saddle stitcher A. After the transfer element 2 here several investors 4 are arranged, which store printed sheets on a gathering chain 3 '. In front of an ejector 24 'a stapling machine 5' is arranged, which may be of the same design as the stapler 5. Finally, the second saddle stitcher B a cutting machine 6 ', a stacker 7' and a conveyor belt 25 'on.
  • the device 1 can basically be used in two operating modes.
  • the first mode the so-called solo operation
  • the two saddle stitchers A and B are used separately, the transfer element 2 is thus shut down here.
  • Both saddle stitchers A and B can be operated simultaneously. It is also possible to use only one saddle stitcher A or B.
  • the second mode is a so-called tandem operation. In this, the two saddle stitchers A and B are connected to the transfer element 2 with each other.
  • the cutting machine 6 and according to the stacker 7 and the conveyor belt 25 are shut down.
  • tandem operation there are again three variants of the method of operation, which are described below with reference to FIGS. 2a to 2c be explained in more detail.
  • a partial product 8 is produced. This consists for example of several sheets not shown here in detail.
  • the sub-product 8 has a fold F and is as in FIG. 1 indicated astride transported by the gathering chain 3.
  • the partial product 8 is stapled with the first stapling machine 5 and thus provided at the fold F, for example with two wire clamps 21.
  • This sub-product 8 is transferred with the transfer element 2 to the second saddle stitcher B and in this a second sub-product 9 is produced on the first sub-product 8.
  • This second partial product 9 is in turn stapled and provided with brackets 22, which can also take the partial product 8. From the two partial products 8 and 9 produces a total product 10.
  • This total product 10 contains on the inside the sub-product 8, which is stapled for itself.
  • the entire product 10 is the second cutting machine 6 'fed and provided in this in the usual way with a front, foot and head section. Finally, the total products 10 are stacked in the stacker 7 'and designed with the conveyor belt 25'.
  • the partial product 8 is stapled.
  • a partial product 11 is produced and added to the partial product 8.
  • the partial product 11 is not stapled.
  • the total product 28 thus consists of a stapled partial product 8 and a partial product 11, which may be for example a simple sheet or an envelope.
  • non-stapled partial product 12 is produced in the saddle stitcher A.
  • the first stapler 5 does not staple in this case.
  • a partial product 13 is placed on the partial product 12 and this is stapled and provided with staples 23. These staples 23 can simultaneously detect the non-stapled partial product 12.
  • the entire product 14 resp. Printed product is again cut in the second cutting machine 6 '.
  • a drive motor 15 is arranged, which is preferably a servomotor.
  • the drive motor 15 has a drive 17, which can be coupled via a coupling 16 with the cutting machine 6.
  • This clutch 16 is preferably an electromagnetic clutch that can be actuated by the control device.
  • the cutting machine 6 In the coupled state, the cutting machine 6 is thus driven by the drive motor 15. In the disengaged state, the cutting machine 6 stands still. This is the case in tandem operation, since the blades of the cutting machine 6 must not run, since they are otherwise dull.
  • the gear 17 is connected via a further gear 18 with a gear assembly 19, with which the drive motor 15 is connected to the other driven members of the first saddle stitcher 8.
  • These are in particular the first stapler 5, the feeder 4 and the gathering chain 3.
  • the transfer element 2 can be driven by the first saddle stitcher A at the same time via a superposition gear 20 or another suitable gear. If the first cutting machine 6 is disengaged, then the drive motor 15 is thus the main drive for the first stapling machine 5, the feeder 4 and the gathering chain 3.
  • the sub-product 8 can according to the FIGS. 2a and 2b stapled with the first stapler 5.
  • the partial products 8 are thus pre-stitched and, as explained above, transferred to the second saddle stitcher B with the transfer element 2.
  • the drive motor 15 is arranged on the first stapler 5.
  • the drive motor 15 is connected to the cutting machine 6 via a coupling 16.
