Definitions
- the present invention relates to a protective helmet, and more precisely a helmet adjustment device intended to promote its positioning and positioning as well as its adaptation to the size of the head of the user.
- Protective helmets have been used for a very long time current in different fields either professionally as is the case for the military, airplane or helicopter pilots, gendarmes or firefighters, either civil or private, as is the case for users of motorcycles, rally or racing cars, or employees of construction sites.
- prior art helmets are generally formed of a rigid external shell and an internal covering intended to allow the setting in place of the helmet and to promote user comfort. They can also have an internal plastic casing intended to absorb shocks.
- the object of the present invention is to solve the problems aforementioned by means simple, reliable, easy to implement and cheap. It offers a protective helmet whose device adjustment is easy to use, fast and precise so as to favor adapting the helmet to the size of the user's head.
- the protective helmet of the invention is of the type formed from a shell intended to protect the head from user and having an internal covering which presents a head circumference adjustable in size thanks to an adjustment device which includes two grippers intended to be moved in or out manually by the user to vary the size of the head circumference, while it includes elastic biasing means arranged between the connecting piece and the extensions or the strip to apply the head circumference towards its loosened position against the locking means.
- the turn of head includes part of main strip, two extensions of adjustment extending at the ends of the main strip and carrying the gripping members as well as a connecting piece having locking means intended to cooperate with the extensions of setting.
- the head circumference is arranged inside the shell of the helmet so that the connecting piece is positioned at the rear of the helmet and that the gripping members are arranged substantially in the area corresponding to the user's neck.
- the gripping members are arranged at the end adjustment extensions and have a bearing surface transverse extending downwards (BA) below the planes containing the main panel and adjustment extensions.
- the elastic biasing means are formed by two deflection arms connecting the adjustment extensions to the connecting piece and which stress said extensions thanks to their own elasticity.
- the locking means consist of two locking loops which each have a locking lever carrying a locking projection intended to cooperate with notches arranged on the external face of the extensions of adjustment and which also each comprise a unlocking.
- the adjustment extensions include at their end, at the level of their gripping members, a nipple of guide for guiding the sliding of the adjustment extensions relative to the locking means of the connecting piece by sliding each in a guide light disposed in the connecting piece.
- the gripping members are separated by a distance less than 15 centimeters.
- the protective helmet with the general reference (1) is intended to protect the head of a user and perhaps of all types, it is say be a fire helmet or a military helmet for example but also a mountaineer, cyclist helmet or any other kind of helmet without departing from the scope of the invention.
- this is a firefighter's helmet (1) as shown in Figures 1 and 2. It consists of an advantageously unitary external shell (2) intended to wrap the user's head and an internal covering (10) arranged to the inside of the shell to allow positioning and tightening of this around the head.
- This covering (10) notably comprises a cap (4) formed by a flexible wall or a retaining net (9) and a head circumference (5) whose size is adjustable by means of an adjustment device (6).
- the head circumference (5) is intended to grip the user's head to favor the maintenance of the helmet once it is in place.
- the device adjustment (6) allows to vary the useful length of the head circumference (5), i.e. its diameter.
- the adjusting device (6) of the invention comprises two gripping members (7a, 7b) intended to be manually operated by the user to be pushed aside or brought together one from the other, their actuation making it possible to vary the diameter of the head circumference (5).
- These gripping members (7a, 7b) extend downwards (BA) below the head circumference (5) and more precisely below the plane containing the lower edge of the head circumference to facilitate their gripping by the user and their actuation when the helmet (1) is fitted on his head.
- the head circumference (5) consists of a strip part main (8), by two adjustment extensions (11a, 11b) arranged at the free ends of the strip (8), by a connecting piece (12) and by locking means (13) carried by the connecting piece and intended for cooperate with the adjustment extensions (11a, 11b).
- Cooperation between the locking means (13) and the extensions (11a, 11b) perhaps obtained by any means such as for example using a rack as shown in the illustrated embodiment or by equivalent systems, such as by wedging or the like.
- the main strip part (8) forms at least half of the circumference of the head circumference (5).
- the gripping members (7a, 7b) are carried by the extensions of adjustment (11a, 11b) so as to extend below the head circumference (5).
- the adjustment extensions (11a, 11b) have on their external face a set of notches (14) intended to cooperate with the locking member (13a) of a loop (13) which forms the locking means.
- These extensions (11a, 11b) comprise at one of their ends the member gripping (7a, 7b) and at the other end, fixing means or assembly such as a light (15) to be assembled each to a end of the main strip (8) so as to form the extension.
- each adjustment extension (11a, 11b) has a first longitudinal wall portion (16a) intended to extend the strip main and a second portion of longitudinal wall (16b) integral with the first portion (16a) and which carries the set of notches (14). These two portion of walls being offset from each other to be located in two separate parallel planes (P1, P2), the second portion of the wall (16b) being located below the first (16a).
- This second portion wall (16b) carries at its free end the gripping member (7a, 7b) which is formed at least in part of a transverse wall portion which it is orthogonal.
- This member thus has a bearing surface (17) sufficient to allow the user to solicit it, said surface extending transversely below the second wall portion (16b) of the adjustment extension (11a, 11b).
- the assembly of the extensions (11a, 11b) on the main strip part (8) thanks to the fixing means (15) can be performed in several positions as shown in Figure 4, the light (15) of the extensions being capable of cooperating with several positioning pins (18) of the strip (8). So this multiple assembly possible multiplies the possibilities of adjusting the size of the head circumference (15) by combining advantageously with the adjusting device (6) of the invention. It goes without saying that we would not go out of the protective field of the invention by making the banner and its one-piece adjustment extensions.
- the locking loops (13) intended to cooperate with the extensions (11a, 11b) are carried by a rear connecting piece (12) which partly forms the head circumference (5).
- the head circumference (5) is arranged in the helmet so that the connecting piece (12) is arranged so central to the back of the helmet (1) substantially at the nape of the neck the user.
- This connecting piece advantageously includes two lights guide (19) intended to cooperate with a guide pin (20) of each of the adjustment extensions (11a, 11b) illustrated in FIG. 10b.
- She carries at its lateral ends two loops (13) illustrated in FIGS. 8a to 8d, each forming a passage (21) for the adjustment extensions (11a, 11b) and each carrying a locking member (13a) such as a lever central provided with a locking projection (22) intended to cooperate with the notches (14) to allow the extension of the extension (11a, 11b) to slide the passage (21) only in a direction corresponding to the tightening of the lathe to prevent sliding in the opposite direction.
- the locking loops (13) comprise in a manner known per se unlocking member (23) intended to urge the lever (13a) and its projection (22) so that it is no longer engaged with the notches (14) and adjustment extensions (11a, 11b) can slide in the opposite direction and thus allow to loosen the head circumference (5).
- the unlocking member (23) is a lever pivotally mounted on the body of the loop (13) and intended to cooperate with the locking lever (13a) by through complementary ramps in a manner known per se.
- the head circumference (5) has means for elastic stresses (25) intended to stress it towards its loose position (A) illustrated in FIGS. 5a and 6a, ie its position where the organs of gripping (7a, 7b) abuts against the loops (13) of the workpiece link. So when the user operates the unlocking levers (23) loops (13), the elastic biasing means (25) bias the adjustment extensions (11a, 11b) to slide in their passage (21) to their loose position.
- the biasing means elastic consist of two deflection arms (25) formed by extensions of the rear connecting part (12) and which connect said part (12) to the adjustment extensions (11a, 11b). So when the user tighten the head circumference (5) the deflection arms fold as shown in the Figures 6a to 6c, thus requesting the adjustment extensions (11a, 11b) to against the locking means (13, 22).
- the means of guide (20) are located at the end of the adjustment extensions, at the level of the gripping members (7a, 7b) for sliding in the lights (19) of the connecting piece (12) located between the two loops of lock (13). Furthermore, when the head circumference (5) is in position loosened (A), the gripping members (7a, 7b) are spaced apart distance (d) less than 15 centimeters and advantageously equal to 8 approximately centimeters in order to facilitate their actuation by the user.
- the constituent organs of the head circumference (5) namely the main strip part (8) the adjustment extensions (11a, 11b), the locking means and unlocking (13, 22, 23), the connecting piece and its deflection arms (12, 25) are made of plastic by any process, such as example by injection.
- the main strip part (8) and the connecting piece (12) may have on their internal face a padding intended to give comfort to the user.
- This padding can advantageously be glued or sewn on the strip (8) or it can be removably arranged such as for example using a clip fast velcro type (registered trademark).
- the helmet of the invention (1) includes a plane vertical (P) of general symmetry, and that it comprises means allowing the adjustment extensions (11a, 11b) to move symmetrically with respect to this plane (P).
- These means are in the mode of execution described previously constituted by the elastic means (25) which mean that when the user unlocks their blindfold, thanks to their action on the unlocking members (23), the so-called elastic means act simultaneously and jointly to repel so symmetrical each of the adjustment extensions (11a, 11b).
- the figures 12a, 12b illustrate a variant according to which the displacement of one of the adjustment extensions (11a, or 11b), causes the displacement of the other adjustment extension (11b, or 11a).
- the two adjustment extensions (11a, 11b) are mechanically connected and kinematically by a central transmission pinion (30) mounted pivoting on the connecting piece (12) in the general plane (P).
- the said pinion (30) cooperates by diametric meshing with two additional extensions (31a, 31b) of the main strip, extending the adjustment extensions (11a, 11b).
- the device also includes the elastic means (25) of the first mode execution.
- the elastic means are constituted by an elastic system, not shown, such as a spring which acts on the transmission pinion (30).
