Definitions
- the present invention relates to a connector miniature coaxial switch including for electrically connecting a transmitter element to a couple of antennas.
- a switch connector of the type targeted by the invention is described in the US patent 5 174 775 and EP 0 497 704.
- This switch connector is used in particular to connect a telephone car portable to the antenna thereof. When this phone is used in portable mode to outside the car it is necessary to disconnect the antenna from the car, so that the phone can operate with its own antenna and its own power source.
- the radio frequency range transmitted by this type of switch connector is between a few hundreds of MHz and 3 GHz.
- the purpose of the present invention is to provide a coaxial switch or inverter connector presenting a simple structure, compatible with imperatives of miniaturization, facilitating the assembly of surface on a printed circuit board while allowing the transmission of frequencies included in the range above.
- the invention thus relates to a connector miniature coaxial switch, including for electrically connecting a transmitter element to a pair of antennas, comprising a hollow body of which protrusion at least two contact elements, inside from which a plunger is axially movable having, at one of its ends, a contact element electric, this plunger being stressed by means to a first position in which a electrical contact is established between the two elements of contact and said plunger being movable against the action means for returning to a second position in which the electrical contact element is in contact electric with one of the two contact elements and these the latter are electrically isolated from each other, characterized in that the two contact elements are contact blades located in the same plane and allow the connector to be mounted on the surface of a printed circuit board.
- the axial plunger thus moves simultaneously the end contact element intended for example to be connected to a car antenna, between a position in protrusion and a cleared position, and establishes contact either with one of the contact blades or with both blades.
- Such a construction is therefore simple to realize and miniaturize so that it can mount on a printed circuit board.
- the parts of the contact blades projecting out of the hollow bodies are located without a plane perpendicular to the axis of the plunger.
- the switch or reverse connector has advantageously an external casing in material conductive, for example made of metal.
- it includes a ground blade cut out from said housing, located in the plane of said projecting parts of contact blades.
- This arrangement also facilitates mounting of surface.
- the miniature coaxial switch connector surface especially for electrically connecting a transmitting element to an antenna, includes a hollow body cylindrical 1 from which two contact blades protrude 2, 3 and one or two ground blades 4, 4a, allowing the surface mounting.
- a plunger 5 Inside the hollow body 1 is mounted axially movable a plunger 5 in material electrically insulating bearing to one of its ends an electrical contact element at the end 6.
- the plunger 5 is stressed by means of reminder 8 to a first position (the one shown in FIG. 1), in which the contact element in tip 6 protrudes at one end 7 of the hollow body 1 and an electrical contact is established between the two blades contact 2 and 3.
- the plunger 5 is movable against the action of the return means 8 towards a second position (as shown in Figure 4), in which the end electrical contact element 6 is erased from the end 7 of the hollow body 1, is in contact electric with one of the two contact blades and the two blades 2, 3 are electrically insulated one of the other.
- the contact blade 2 is for example connected to the high frequency transmitter of a cell phone from car.
- the end contact 5 is in this example, intended to be connected with a car antenna.
- the other contact blade 3 is connected to the antenna belonging to the cell phone.
- Figure 3 shows that the parts of the blades contact 2, 3 protruding from the hollow body 1 are located in a plane perpendicular to the axis XX 'of the diver 5.
- the switch connector has a housing exterior 9 of conductive material such as metal.
- This housing 9 comprises one or two ground blades 4, 4a (see figure 2) cut out of the case, located in the plane of said projecting parts of the contact blades 2, 3 (see Figure 3).
- the end contact element 6 projects, in said first position, in a cavity 10 made, at one end of the hollow body 1, in an electrically insulating material 11 filling inside the hollow body 1.
- the plunger 5 has, on the opposite of the contact element at the end 6 a plate 12 perpendicular to the axis XX 'of the plunger 5 in support by one 12a of its faces on a return spring 8 in abutment against the bottom 13 of the hollow body 1.
- the other face of the plate 12 has an electrically element conductor 14 coming, in said first position of the diver 5 establish electrical contact with parts of the contact blades 2, 3 located in a plane parallel to plate 12.
- the above parts contact blades 2, 3 are located in the same plane that the parts of these blades that protrude out of the hollow body 1.
- one 2 of the two contact blades 2, 3 is extended beyond said part located in a plane parallel to the plate 12, by a part 2a moving away from the plate 12 and directed towards the element of end contact 6 of the plunger 5.
- This part 2a of the blade 2 can come into contact with the contact element at the end 6, when the plunger 5 is in the second position, shown in Figure 4.
- the part 2a of the blade 2 directed towards the element of end contact 6 is a sleeve coaxial with the plunger 5 and of greater diameter than end contact element 6.
- This sleeve 2a has (see Figures 2 and 5) two elastic tabs 15, 16 cut from the sleeve and whose ends 15a, 16a adjacent to the element contact tip 6 are close to the axis XX 'of the plunger 5.
- the ends 15a, 16a of the tongues 15, 16 can thus come into contact with the element of end contact 6 when the plunger 5 is in the second position shown in Figure 4.
- FIG. 5 shows the detailed form of each piece of the switch connector.
- Figures 1 and 4 also show that the insulating interior lining of the hollow body 1 is in two parts 11, 11a resting on each other along the plane in which the two blades of contact 2, 3.
- Part 11 of the insulating lining located opposite the plate 12 of the plunger 12 forms in the above plan two shoulders 21 parallel to the plate 12 against which the two blades of contact 2, 3.
- the part of the blade 2 directed towards the contact element in end 6 has at its end a part in the form of washer 22.
- part 5a of the plunger 5 located between the plate 12 and the contact element at the end 6.
- the position of the washer-shaped part 22, is such that she can come into contact with the element of end contact 6, when the plunger is in the second position, i.e. when element 6 is erased.
- the conductive part 14 could be circular which would avoid having to maintain it in rotation.
- the switch connector that we just describe can be used in a telephone installation car, to connect the radio transmitter to an antenna external.
- the socket of this external antenna has a coaxial plug whose central contact comes into contact with the contact element 6.
- the element of contact 6 protrudes into cavity 10 and the ends of the contact blades 2, 3 are in contact with with each other, as shown in Figure 1.
- the phone works with its own antenna and can be used outside the vehicle.
- the pin central of it comes into contact with the element of contact 6 and push it towards the inside of the body hollow 1.
- the plate 12 then moves away from the blades of contact 2, 3.
- the contact element in tip 6 comes into contact with the lamellae 15, 16 of the contact blade 2 thereby establishing a connection electric between the latter and the contact element at the end 6.
- the switch connector according to the invention has a diameter of the order of 6 mm. Its protruding blades 2, 3, 4 located in the same plane facilitate its assembly along the X-X 'axis of the connector on a printed circuit board.
- the element contact 6 could still be energized i.e. always in electrical connection with the blade contact 2. This can be achieved by increasing the length of the contact element 6 so that in the position of Figure 1, it is in contact with the part 2a.
- the plunger 5 carries an end contact element 5a which is clearly set back from the end 7 of the hollow body 1.
- one 2 of the two blades of contact 2, 3 is extended by a part 2a deviating of the plate 12 and directed towards the end contact 5a of the plunger 5.
- a connecting pin external 6a is pressed into the hollow body 1, the latter is first in electrical contact with part 2a directed towards the end and going beyond the tip contact end 5a of the plunger, then pushes on the contact end 5a of the plunger 5.
- part 2a of the blade directed towards the end contact element 5a is a sleeve coaxial to the plunger 5 and of diameter equivalent to this one.
- This sleeve 2a has elastic tabs coming into contact with the external connection pin 6a before the plunger 5 is in said second position.
