Definitions
- the invention relates to the field of type components. coaxial used for high frequencies. More precisely, it concerns a miniature component forming both connector and switch.
- the present invention relates to a connector-switch component. intended for automatic switching above when connecting and disconnecting the device to an external antenna. More specifically, when the device is used as a portable device outside of a car, the device circuit is connected to the external antenna via an internal contact. When the device is positioned in a car, it is placed on a connector incorporated in the car and connected to an external antenna, and this connector moves an assembly mobile which on the one hand ensures the connection between the antenna external and internal circuitry of the device and secondly the disconnection of the second contact connected to the internal antenna of the device.
- Document DE-U-9215031 describes a connector-switch component having the properties of the previous paragraph. More specifically, this document describes a component coaxial connector-switch for high frequencies which includes a conductive body defining a elongated cavity and intended to be grounded, a first contact supported by a first insulating member at a first end of the body's elongated cavity so that it either fixed relative to the body, a second contact supported by a second insulating organ in a wall of the body so that it is accessible on one side of the elongated cavity and that it is fixed relative to the body, a movable assembly in translation along an axis between a first and a second position and comprising a conductive member cooperating by sliding with the first contact with which it is in permanent contact, a third organ insulator arranged around the conductive member and ensuring its isolation from the body, and having a movable contact which cooperates with the second contact when the mobile assembly is in the first position and which is distant from the second contact when the mobile assembly
- the present invention relates to a connector-switch component. which not only moves the moving assembly which on the one hand ensures the connection between the external antenna and the internal circuit of the device and secondly the disconnection the second contact connected to the internal antenna of the device, but also which ensures the grounding of the second contact when it is disconnected.
- This grounding is particularly advantageous at high frequencies (especially beyond of 1 GHz) because the disconnected organ can otherwise introduce parasites affecting operation.
- the mobile contact is a lateral projection of the conductive member of the mobile assembly and the connector-switch component further includes a translational guidance device intended to prevent the rotation of the mobile assembly about its axis of movement.
- the guide device comprises a cylinder sector formed by the third insulating member and a complementary cylinder sector formed by the first insulating member, the two cylinder sectors cooperating by surfaces parallel to the axis of movement.
- the body of the component further comprises an impedance matching cavity formed in the body around the mobile contact.
- the mass conducting member is a conductive sleeve having a cylindrical body extended by two diametrically opposite arms, one of the arms being intended to come in cooperation with the second contact and the other of the arms being intended to guide the sleeve when moving the mobile assembly by cooperation with a groove of the first insulating member, so that the mobile assembly cannot rotate around its axis of movement as it moves in translation.
- the first contact includes a spindle arranged on the axis of displacement in translation of the mobile assembly.
- the reminder device comprises a helical spring disposed between an internal shoulder of the body and an external shoulder of the mobile assembly.
- the outer shoulder of the mobile assembly is a shoulder of the mass conducting member.
- the conductive member of the mobile assembly comprises, at the opposite end to that which comprises the movable contact, a fourth contact member forming with the body a connector part intended to cooperate with a complementary part of an external connector.
- the connector-switch component shown in the FIGS. 1 and 2 include a conductive body 10, advantageously formed of a metal. It delimits a cavity internal longitudinal 12 which successively comprises, from the external part represented on the right in FIGS. 1 and 2, a first and a second cylindrical part leading to an enlarged part 32 described below.
- the inner end (on the left in Figures 1 and 2) has a cylindrical hole closed by a first insulating member 14 which supports a first fixed contact 16.
- This contact 16 comprises, in its extension, a pin 18 positioned by a collar 20 against the insulator 14.
- the insulator 14 comprises a cylindrical part placed in the cylindrical hole of the end of the body 10 and a part placed inside of the body cavity 10 and having the shape of a half-cylinder 22 as shown in Figure 5. This part extends approximately to the end of pin 18. It has, on its outer face, a groove 24, used for a purpose described below.
- the body 10 also has a lateral hole in which is housed a second insulator 26 which supports a second contact fixed 28.
- the latter ends with a rounded head 30 protruding slightly inside the body cavity, on the side of it. Near the second contact 28 and more precisely of its head 30 placed inside the body, this one has an enlarged cavity 32 whose role is described below.
- the components described so far are fixed the relative to each other and are intended to be fixed to the body of a device.
- the component also includes a mobile assembly 34.
- the mobile assembly 34 includes a conductive member 36 analogous to an elongated rod.
- the conductive member 36 On the side facing the first contact 16, the conductive member 36 has a longitudinal hole 38 fitted on pin 18 of the first contact. We have shown a slit formed in this hole so that the pin 18 is slightly tightened by the conductive member 36 while able to slide in the hole 38. At the end of the member conductor turned towards pin 18, this comprises a tab 40 forming a movable contact.
- this mobile contact 40 is placed against the head 30 of the second fixed contact 28.
- this contact 40 is distant from the contact head 30 and is in the middle of the cavity 32 which then fully fulfills its function impedance matching.
- the other end of the conductive member 36 of the mobile assembly 34 has an element allowing the connection with an external connector member.
- this element connection is formed by a hole 42 similar to the hole 38 and intended to cooperate with a spindle.
- this is of a simple example, as a female element, but other female or male elements can replace it.
- the connector member 36 of the mobile assembly is surrounded by a third insulating member 44.
- This has a cylindrical shape of revolution. However, in its part facing the first fixed contact 16, it is cut and has the shape of a half cylinder as indicated by the reference 44 in FIGS. 3 and 5.
- the insulating member 44 surrounds member 36 practically over its entire length, except at level of a clear part intended to house the part semi-cylindrical 22 of the first insulating organ 14.
- the mobile assembly further includes a member ground conductor represented by a shaped sleeve 48 cylindrical.
- a member ground conductor represented by a shaped sleeve 48 cylindrical.
- the sleeve 48 carries a flange 50 and its cylindrical body is extended, towards the first contact 16, by arms 52, better represented on Figure 4.
- a spring 54 constitutes a return member intended to push the mobile assembly 34 towards the outside of the body 10.
- the spring 54 is supported on one side against the flange 50 of the earth conductive sleeve and, on the other side, against a shoulder 56 of the body.
- the body 10 When the component is mounted in a radiotelephone portable car, the body 10 is fixed in the housing of the radiotelephone and, since it is a conductor, it is grounded by a lug 58.
- the first contact 16 is connected to the electronic circuits of the device.
- the second fixed contact 28 is connected to the internal antenna of the radiotelephone.
- the tab forming the movable contact 40 of the conductive member 36 is placed against the head 30 of the second fixed contact 28.
- the member conductor 36 is also permanently connected to the first fixed contact 16 by sliding the hole 38 on the pin 18, the two fixed contacts 16 and 28 are connected.
- the internal radiotelephone antenna is connected to its electronic circuits. The radiotelephone can therefore be used as a portable station.
- the radiotelephone When the radiotelephone is to be used at inside a car it is housed in a cavity provided for this purpose.
- the body of the radiotelephone is then guided so that the component of figure 1 comes cooperate with a complementary connector member which, in the case of the particular component shown in the figures 1 and 2, has a pin surrounded by a bowl mass.
- this pin enters the hole 42 then pushes the movable member 34 while the end of the body 10 is housed in the additional connector cup.
- the mobile assembly is then moves to the position shown in Figure 2. In this position, the spring 54 has been compressed by movement of the flange 50 to the left in the figure 2. Consequently, the movable contact 40 has moved away from the contact head 30.
- the first fixed contact 16 is therefore no longer connected to the second fixed contact 28. However, it is connected to the pin that was introduced into hole 42 and there is therefore connected to an external antenna.
- the movement of the movable member 34 has caused the passage of a conductive finger 52 on the contact head 30, while the other conductive finger 52, by sliding in the groove 24 of the first insulating member 14, ensures the rotational positioning of the sleeve 48. Consequently, the second fixed contact 28 is then in contact with the sleeve 48 which is itself grounded by contact with the body, in particular via the spring 54 and the finger elastic guide 52.
- the cavity 32 ensures an adaptation impedance such as operation with the antenna is not disturbed and, simultaneously, the antenna internal is connected to ground and does not disturb the communication.
- the body 10 is formed a light alloy based on aluminum and the fixed contacts 16 and 28, the conductive member 36 and the sleeve 48 are formed of bronze or beryllium.
- Spring 54 is formed of steel.
- Insulators 14, 26 and 44 are advantageously formed of "Nylon".
- the total width of the component of Figures 1 and 2 is 4 mm, its length 11 mm and the stroke of the movable member 34 is 0.9 mm. he it is therefore a miniature component which, however, ensures sophisticated functions. Indeed, it allows switching between a first position in which the two contacts fixed are connected, and a second position in which one fixed contact is connected to an external contact and the other fixed contact is grounded. It therefore fulfills both connector, switch and switch functions.
- the mobile assembly was guided in translation, so that it cannot rotate, by cooperation of a semi-cylindrical part 22 of the first insulating organ 14 and a semi-cylindrical part of the insulator 44 of the mobile assembly 34.
- many other guiding devices can be used. Indeed, although in this embodiment, guiding is carried out between the two insulators, it can be made between an insulator and the movable conductive member 36 or between the movable conductive member and the first contact.
- the guidance of the sleeve 48 was secured by moving a finger 52 in a groove 24 of the insulation, other provisions are possible, for example the sliding of an integral lug of the sleeve 48 in a groove in the body 10.
- the fixed member 16 comprises a spindle cooperating with a female element represented by the hole 38 of the conductive member 36. Any other provision can be used, as long as it ensures conservation of the cooperation of the fixed contact 16 and of the organ conductor 36.
- the male-female arrangement can be replaced by a female-male arrangement.
