Description

The present invention relates to a switch electric rotary multi-position, especially for a motor vehicle anti-theft device.

The invention relates to a switch operable with using the ignition key at the option of the user and who, in depending on the angular orientation of the key, establishes different electrical circuits required for starting and vehicle operation, as well as when stopped.

The invention relates to a switch of the type comprising a housing of generally cylindrical shape which comprises:
  • an axially open front section forming a contact chamber, delimited transversely by a bottom and laterally by a cylindrical skirt, in which is mounted a rotor which carries a movable contact capable of establishing, as a function of the angular position (determined by the key contact which acts on the rotor), electrical connections between different fixed contacts arranged in the bottom of the contact chamber; and
  • a solid rear section comprising a central passage, coaxial with the housing, and peripheral passages arranged near the convex cylindrical lateral face of the rear section, each of which opens at its two opposite axial ends and receives a fixed contact and an associated conductive wire connected fixed contact.

According to a known design of such a switch, described and represented in document FR-A-2.701.160, the case is a massive piece that includes the different passages for fixed contacts and to which is associated a cover which is attached to one of the axial ends of the solid housing and whose side wall in the form of a skirt delimits the contact chamber in which the rotor.

This design makes the assembly of different particularly complex components and it only allows especially not its most complete automation possible. In addition, once the fixed contacts and the movable contact in place and after fitting the cover, the cylindrical wall side of the case remains an incomplete wall and the component constituted by the switch needs to be implanted in an additional envelope, i.e. it does not constitute a complete and autonomous component which can be established with the greatest possible freedom in combination with a lock.

According to another known concept, all the passages which receive the fixed contacts are made in the form of axial orientation channels in which the fixed contacts are introduced axially.

Each fixed contact is introduced axially from the rear end of the associated channel towards its front end which opens into the bottom of the contact chamber.

Each fixed contact ends with a free end front cut and rounded profile which projects axially in the bottom of the contact chamber to constitute the fixed contact surface with which the contact cooperates mobile.

Une telle conception présente de nombreux inconvénients.Such a design presents many disadvantages.

The fixed contact area consists of an edge rounded cut and the surface condition of this contact area fixed with which a contact zone cooperates by friction formed opposite the rotary movable contact, is little electrically satisfactory and causes wear premature contact areas.

The axial introduction of each fixed contact and its locking in the mounted position by a transverse finger of hood blocking do not allow to control specifies the axial position of the fixed contact with respect to the housing and therefore the position of the fixed end contact area by relative to the transverse bottom of the contact chamber.

Furthermore, the axial locking in the mounted position of each fixed contact is insufficient to the extent that it is ensured by the cooperation of the locking finger with two opposite abutment surfaces formed in a longitudinal edge fixed contact in the form of a plate formed by the edges lateral of a notch formed in this longitudinal edge.

There is too much functional play between the abutment surfaces and the portions facing the finger associated blockage.

In order to ensure correct axial positioning of each fixed contact, the hood locking fingers have ramps which, during the transverse insertion movement locking fingers are worn by friction against edges of the locking notch of the fixed contact plate corresponding.

During the axial insertion of each fixed contact, the longitudinal and front end edges of these constitute as many edges which deteriorate the surrounding walls of the passage formed in the massive plastic body insulating and lead to the formation of material chips plastic which are introduced into the contact chamber and which may prevent further operation of the switch.

The state-of-the-art design does not allow also not to ensure a polarization between the different fixed contacts, including peripheral contacts and it sometimes results in incorrect mounting of the fixed contacts resulting in a manufacturing defect in the switch.

Finally, the control of the rotary mobile contact, also called cursor, is sometimes insufficient especially for the determination of some of its angular positions by compared to fixed contacts.

The object of the present invention is to provide a new design of an electric switch of the type previously mentioned which overcomes these disadvantages, and which makes it possible in particular to produce a switch with a housing complete and allowing simplified mounting of fixed contacts.

The cover 34 consists essentially of a wall rear semi-cylindrical side 120 which, in position assembly of the cover 34 on the body 32, is provided for extend opposite the convex cylindrical side face 64 of the body 32, and by a second semi-cylindrical half-skirt 122 complementary to the half-skirt 62 of the body 32, that is to say which, in the assembled position, constitutes with the latter a cylindrical side skirt which delimits the contact 68 in association with the transverse bottom 66.

The annular edge 124 which delimits the skirt 122 by compared to the side wall 120 is intended to come opposite of the annular edge 100 of the side wall 64.

The half-skirt 122 has a window 126 which, in assembled position, is diametrically opposite a window symmetrical 127 formed in the half-skirt 62, these two windows being provided to receive the diametrical tabs opposite 128 of the plate 38 for the maintenance and fixing of the latter in the housing.

In the vicinity of its rear transverse edge 124, the internal concave face of the half-skirt 122 of the cover 34 comprises two raised ramps 130 which are provided for cooperate with the beaks 133 of the branches 44 and 46 of the cursor 42 to control the movements of the latter by relative to the fixed contacts during its rotation.

The half-skirt 122 is delimited by two edges opposite longitudinal sections 132 which, in the assembled position, are in look at the edges 72 of the half-skirt 62 of the body 32.

The half-skirt 122 is also delimited axially by a front annular edge 134 complementary to the edge front annular 76 of the half-skirt 62.

The assembly of the cover 34 on the body 32 is carried out in a transverse direction T perpendicular to the plane diametral division of the two half-skirts 62 and 122.

Assembly and fixing of the cover 34 on the body 32 is done by elastic interlocking.

For this purpose, the half-skirt 122 is extended according to the tangential direction by two front hooking legs 136 which are elastically and transversely deformable and each of which has a spout at its free end hook 138 which is intended to come to fit, in assembled position, behind a complementary side wing 140 but opposite in the half-skirt 62 at the level of longitudinal edges 72.

The fastening is completed by two longitudinal slots rear and diametrically opposite 142 formed in the wall lateral 120, near its annular end edge rear axial 144, in which are received, in position nested, two complementary hooking spouts 144 formed opposite one another in the side wall 64 of the rear section solid 58. Locking and fixing are thus ensured substantially "at the four corners" of the cover 34 and of the body 32.

The two fingers 148 and 150 extend transversely, that is to say parallel to the direction T, and they are located in the same transverse which, in the mounted position, is aligned with the transverse plane by means of the notches 92A, 92B, 92C of the rear section 58 of the body 32.

The locking finger 148 extends transversely over a great length, beyond the diametrical plane of the edges 132, while the locking finger 150 extends a very short length.

The hole 152 opens transversely inward in the front portion 86 of the central passage 78 at the level of the transverse bottom 112.

As can be seen in Figure 3, the first finger transverse blocking 148 has a first section of wide 154 and a free end section 156 reduced thickness.

The width, measured in the longitudinal direction by relative to the X-X axis of finger 148, like that of finger 150, is substantially equal to the width of the holes which receive them and to the distance between the opposite transverse faces of the notches 92A, 92B and 92C formed in the adjacent runners 90A, 90B, 90C.

The locking finger 150 extends over a length reduced transverse and it is received in a blind hole 158 formed, like hole 152, between adjacent notches 92A and 92B.

On its internal concave face 146, the side wall 120 also has two sets of three raised bosses 160A, 160B, 160C which extend radially inward. The first front series is located in the same plane transverse than the locking fingers 148 and 150 and that the funds 88A, 88B, 88C, in the mounted position, while the second rear series of bosses 160A, 160B, 160C is located axially opposite the rear portions 82A, 82B, 82C of the peripheral passages.

On décrira maintenant en détail le contact fixe de démarreur 50A en référence aux figures 13 à 17 et 27.We will now describe in detail the fixed contact of starter 50A with reference to FIGS. 13 to 17 and 27.

The fixed contact 50A essentially consists of a plate 170A, of generally rectangular shape, the parallel and opposite longitudinal edges 172A are spaced transversely of a distance corresponding to the distance transverse between the longitudinal edges opposite the 90A slides.

The front end of the 170A plate is a lug of fixed contact 174A folded radially inwards at an angle straight and whose axial end face 176A constitutes the fixed contact face with which are likely to cooperate the slats 46 of the cursor 42 while its face opposite rear transverse 178A is provided for, in position mounted, be in axial support against the portion facing the stud 102A.

Thus, advantageously, the contact face 176A is a laminated face during the development of the wafer, before folding, and is no longer, as in the case of the state of the technique, a cut side.

On its inner face 180A, that is to say on the one which, in the mounted position, is oriented towards the bottom 88A of the passage peripheral 90A, the wafer 170A has a boss in relief 182A which is planned, during one of the phases of the assembly, to be received in the depression corresponding 94A.

The width of the lugs 184A located towards the back, i.e. to the right considering the figures 13 and 14, is substantially equal and slightly less than the width, measured in the axial direction, of the opposite notches 92A.

In the case of the fixed starter contact 50A, the width of the lateral pins 184A is equal for both lugs of the same pair as well as the 92A notches which have the same width.

Likewise, the distance between two lateral pins adjacent along the same longitudinal edge 172A is slightly longer than the length of the front section of the 90A slide so as to allow introduction overall transverse of the fixed contact 50A with its wire conductor 51A in the direction of introduction "I" illustrated on Figure 15 so that it enters the peripheral passage correspondent 90A, as illustrated in FIG. 16.

In this introductory position, we brought the face lower 180A pressing against the bottom 88A with the boss 182A received in depression 94A.

The rear side pins 184A are received in the notches 92A and the terminal 84A with the wire 51A is received in the rear portion 82A of passage 90A.

The thickness of the material of the wafer is slightly less than the height of the slide grooves 90A so as to allow axial sliding according to the direction C indicated in figure 16, i.e. from the left to the right, so as to bring the fixed contact of starter 50A in its mounted position illustrated in the figure 17 in which the rear transverse face 178A of the tab fixed contact front 174A is pressing against the face in vis-à-vis the stud 102A thus ending an axial position precise of the fixed contact 50A with respect to the body 32.

In this precise axial mounting position, the notches 185A, delimited by the transverse edges opposite 183A of the lateral lugs 184A, are aligned transversely with notches 92A and lugs 184A are erased axially under the runners 90A preventing all radial contact exhaust.

During the axial movement towards its mounted position, from figure 16 to the position illustrated in Figure 17, the boss 182A leaves the depression 94A in climbing on ramp 96A to cross it and be received transversely inside the rear part 82 of the passage 90A axially behind the edge 98A.

The arrangement of the boss 182A and the depression 94A thus provides a nesting effect at the time of locking after sliding and locking in mounted position illustrated in figure 17.

The installation of the two other fixed contacts peripherals 50B and 50C in the peripheral passages 90B and 90C are performed in the same way.

We will not fully describe here the structure of fixed contacts 50B and 50C illustrated respectively in the figures 18 to 20 and 21 to 23 on which the same figures of reference that in FIGS. 13 to 15 have been reported indexed respectively with the letters B and C.

However, to constitute means of polarization in cooperation with the shapes and dimensions of the notches associated, we note that the opposite rear lateral lugs 184B and 184C have widths, measured according to the direction axial, different to prevent mounting of the fixed contact 50B in place of the fixed contact 50C and vice versa.

The mounting of a fixed contact 50B or 50C in place of the fixed contact 50A is impossible because the transverse width separating the longitudinal edges 172B and 172C is clearly less than that separating the longitudinal edges 172A from fixed contact 50A.

Enfin, du fait de cette largeur réduite séparant les bords longitudinaux 172A, le contact fixe 50A présente globalement une largeur réduite qui empêche son montage et son verrouillage en position montée en lieu et place de l'un ou l'autre des contacts fixes 50B ou 50C.Finally, because of this reduced width separating the edges longitudinal 172A, the fixed contact 50A has overall a reduced width which prevents its mounting and its locking in the mounted position instead of one or the other of the fixed contacts 50B or 50C.

On décrira maintenant la structure du contact fixe central 48 illustré aux figures 24 à 26.We will now describe the structure of the fixed contact central 48 illustrated in FIGS. 24 to 26.

Like the fixed peripheral contacts 50A, 50B, 50C, it is essentially constituted by a plate 170 whose front end edge, which projects axially into the bottom transverse 66, here is a cut edge 176, the central contact 48 having no contact tab folded down in front of so as to allow its axial introduction, from the rear towards the front, in its associated central passage 88.

The rear part 84 is formed by the terminal of crimping.

On its opposite longitudinal edges 172, the contact central fixed has two rear side pins 184 which extend laterally over different lengths of so as to constitute a means of polarization of the orientation angle of the plate 170 in the central passage 78 of so as to be sure that its terminal 84 with its 48A wire can well be introduced axially into the rear portion 82 of the passage 78.

This axial introduction continues until the forward-facing transverse edges 183 of the lugs side 184 abuts against the transverse bottom 112 separating the rear part 82 from the front part forming slide 86 of passage 78.

As can also be seen in Figures 24 to 26, one of the longitudinal edges 172, upwards considering FIG. 24 includes a notch 185 delimited towards the rear by the front transverse edge 183 of the lateral lug 184 and towards the front by a transverse edge 187 which has a ramp tilted 190.

As can be seen in the different figures illustrating the fixed contacts, these can be made by strip being connected together by connecting portions or coupling 200, illustrated in silhouette in Figures 13, 18, 21 and 24, which are attached to the contacts in the funds of notches 185, 185A, 185B, 185C and which, after their cutting for the separation of the contacts made in strip, do not therefore do not leave any burrs likely to deteriorate the plastics of the body 32 when putting in place of the contacts.

In addition, the connection areas of the portions of bond 200 do not change the geometry of the edges or the most functionally important contours for setting up and locking the contacts.

Une fois que tous les contacts fixes sont en position montée dans le corps, et que les autres composants de l'interrupteur 30 sont en position d'assemblage, l'opération finale consiste à assembler le capot 34 sur le corps en l'introduisant axialement selon la direction T.Once all of the stationary contacts are in position rise in the body, and that the other components of the switch 30 are in the assembly position, the operation final consists in assembling the cover 34 on the body in introducing it axially in the direction T.

During this introduction, the transverse fingers of blocking 148 and 150 respectively enter the holes 152 and 158.

The free end section 156 of the locking fingers 148 of great length is received in notch 185 of the central fixed contact 48 for immobilizing axially relative to to the body 32.

During its penetration, the section 156 cooperates with the ramp 190 formed in the edge 187 of the notch 185 to press the central contact 48 in the axial stop position so that its free contact end 176 occupies a precise position in relation to the transverse bottom 66.

The section forming a foot 154 of greater width of the transverse finger 148 is received simultaneously in the notches adjacent 92A and 92C and in the notches opposite 185A and 185C so as to immobilize the fixed contacts axially peripherals 50A and 50C.

In the same way, the transverse locking finger 150 of reduced length is received in blind hole 158 and simultaneously in the adjacent notches 92A and 92B and in the notches opposite 185A and 185B so as to axially immobilize the fixed contact 50A and the fixed contact 50B relative to the body 32 in the position mounted in which they were previously locked in and in which like the fixed contact 50C, they occupy a precise position with respect to the interior of the contact chamber 58 bearing on pads 102A, 102B and 102C.

At the end of the transverse movement of the cover 34 on the body 32 occurs locking in the nested position thanks to the locking means described above.

In the nested and locked position, the two series of boss 160A, 160B, 160C press radially towards inside the plates 170A, 170B and 170C against the bottoms 88A, 88B and 88C, that is, they keep them in radial and axial position relative to the housing 132.

As can be seen in Figure 27, the three fixed peripheral contacts formed by the three tabs folded contacts 174A, 174B and 174C all extend in the same transverse plane.

The angular position of rest of the cursor 42 is perfectly determined because its beaks 132 are received simultaneously in the two adjacent notches 108.

La partie centrale 49 du curseur 42 est quant à elle maintenue en contact contre le contact fixe central 48 par l'intermédiaire du ressort conique 43 (voir figure 1).The central part 49 of the cursor 42 is itself maintained in contact against the central fixed contact 48 by through the conical spring 43 (see Figure 1).
