Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates to an improved wing for application to boxes and casings for fire extinguishers, fire plugs and antifire and antiaccidents items.
  • As is known, in civil and industrial buildings there are usually provided casings or boxes,adapted to hold therein sleeves or lances for fire plugs, which are conventionally also associated with anti-fire covering elements,antigas masks and,in general with any desired types of antifire and antiaccident items.
  • The mentioned casings or boxes are closed by wings provided with glasses for allowing the contents of said casings or boxes to be seen from outside.
  • In the case of a fire in order to take up the above mentioned items and tools,it is necessary to break the glass.
  • This,however,can injure the operators for extinguishing fire as well as persons located nearby, because of chips which are generated as the glass is broken.
  • The document GB-A-756 170 relates to a transparent closure, which is adapted to rupture under predetermined explosion pressure and which then can be substantially restored to function as an effective closure.
  • This prior improved explosion closure is so designed as to rupture along predetermined areas under pressure resulting from an explosion, or from other pressures, and also so designed that the ruptured segments can be restored substantially to their original position.
  • In this prior closure, the segments resulting from the broken unit swing outwardly upon the flexible mounting edges in a hinging action.
  • The document EP-A-0 065 826 discloses a portion of a breakable plate wing which is enclosed in an outer wing, and includes a breaking line formed on the inner face of the plate wing portion, and a plurality of linear prebreaking regions formed on the inner face of the plate wing portion and which extend through only a part of the front surface of the wing portion.
  • The document FR-A-2 169 877 provides to form a breaking localized region, i.e. a region limited to a specific zone of a large size safety glass provided for large size windows.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • Accordingly,the aim of the present invention is to overcome the above mentioned drawbacks by providing an improved wing specifically designed for closing boxes and casings for fire extinguishers, fire plugs and antifire and antiaccident items which is suitable to prevent persons breaking the wing from being injured.
  • Within the scope of the above mentioned aim,a main object of the present invention is to provide such a wing which is very reliable and safe in operation,can be easily made staring from easily available elements and materials and which,moreover is very competitive from a mere economic standpoint.
  • According to one aspect of the present invention,the above mentioned aim and objects as well as yet other objects,which will become more apparent hereinafter are achieved by an improved wing specifically designed for closing a casing provided for containing therein extinguishers, fire plugs and antifire and antiaccident items, according to Claim 1.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • Further characteristics and advantages of the present invention will become more apparent hereinafter from the following detailed disclosure of a preferred,though not exclusive,embodiment of an improved wing specifically designed for closing boxes and casings for fire extinguishers,fire plugs and antifire and antiaccidents items,which is illustrated,by way of an indicative,but not limitative example,in the accompanying drawings, where:
  • figure 1 is a perspective view illustrating the improved wing according to the present invention, assembled on the casing or box to be closed thereby;
  • figure 2 is a cross-sectional view of the same wing;
  • figure 3 is a cross sectional view of the wing of figure 1;
    and
  • figure 4 illustrates the plate like element forming the wing according to the present invention.
  • DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
  • With refernce to the number references of the above mentioned figures,the improved wing specifically designed for closing boxes and casings for fire extinguishers,fire plugs and antifire and antiaccident items according to the present invention, indicated at the reference number 1, comprises a plate-like element 2,made of a clear or semiclear plastic material which,on the surface thereof, is provided with prebreaking hollow regions 3 comprising a plurality of spaced horizontal and vertical U or V-cross section linear hollow regions formed on the front surface of the plate-like element 2 and extending substantially parallel to the overall extension of the horizontal and vertical sides of the plate-like element and crossing one another to form through the overall front surface of the plate-like element a grid arrangement or pattern defining a plurality of square adjoining cases the sides of which are defined by the prebreaking hollow regions 3.
  • The mentioned regions have a V or U shape, or any other suitable configuration,and are formed on the plate 2 which,during a first step,is flat extruded by means of calendering rollers or the like,which will operate to reduce the thickness of said plate-like element at localized linear portions, and then by impressing on said plate like element said V or U shaped hollow portions.
  • In this connection it should be apparent that the mentioned plate like element can also be made by injection molding.
  • Moreover said hollow portions can also be formed starting from a flat plastic material plate and performing thereon suitable milling operations.
  • For forming the wing the above mentioned plate like element is engaged in a supporting frame 4 and then is mounted on a casing or box 5.
  • Thus, the prebreaking regions 3 and plastic material will allow the plate like element 2 to be broken very easily,without causing damages to those persons taking up the antifire articles held in the casing or box 5.
  • From the above disclosure it should be apparent that the invention fully achieves the intended aim and objects.
  • The invention,as disclosed,is susceptible to several modifications and variations all of which will come within the scope of the inventive idea.
  • Moreover,all the details can be replaced by other technically equivalent elements.
  • In practicing the invention,the used materials, provided that they are compatible to the intended use, as well as the contingent size and shapes can be any, according to requirements.
