Definitions
- the invention relates to a fuel supply system for a motor vehicle with a gasoline engine, which has a fuel injection system with an injection rail, with a fuel tank, pump, flow line system from the fuel tank to the injection rail and return line system from the injection rail to the fuel tank, the fuel tank being provided with a ventilation device and in the rest is separated from the free atmosphere.
- the characteristic flow pipe system denotes single, multiple and branched flow pipes.
- the term return line system is understood accordingly. Atmospheric pressure or overpressure can prevail in the fuel tank.
- Fuel supply systems of the basic structure described have been generally introduced and proven. They are exposed to considerable mechanical stress and are designed accordingly. They are also exposed to changing thermal loads and set up to absorb the resulting thermal expansions. The introduction of heat into the fuel supply system is accepted. It is disadvantageous and causes environmentally harmful fuel losses and fuel changes which are disadvantageous for the operation of the gasoline engine due to fuel evaporation. The easily evaporating components of the fuel distill off.
- the invention is based on the technical problem of avoiding disturbing fuel losses and fuel changes due to fuel vaporization in fuel supply systems for a motor vehicle with a gasoline engine.
- the invention takes into account the fact that a plurality of heat sources act on the fuel supply system for a motor vehicle with a gasoline engine, namely the fuel pump with its engine, if this unit is arranged in the fuel tank, the injection strip arranged on the engine block, the heat to the over the Return line system returns fuel, the exhaust system, if it is arranged in the vicinity of the fuel tank, and also the transmission of the motor vehicle, which heats up while driving.
- heat is introduced by solar radiation and hot engine exhaust air, which act on the supply line system and the return line system as well as on the fuel tank.
- the return system during normal operation of the motor vehicle as it were is switched off, a great advantage is already achieved with regard to the prevention of annoying heat introduction if only the fuel tank, the feed line system and the injection rail are insulated in an insulating manner.
- the invention is based on the knowledge that the disruptive influences of the heat sources described and others can be virtually completely interrupted by the combination of the specified features, and in such a way that annoying fuel evaporation with the resulting disadvantages no longer occurs.
- the thermal insulation is set up according to the rules of thermal insulation and insulation technology, taking into account the physics of the interrelationships in the operation of the motor vehicle and also in relation to the fuel and its temperature behavior.
- the invention suppresses the permanent fuel circulation via the supply line system, the injection rail and the return line system.
- the pump can be set up in different ways.
- One embodiment of the invention provides that the pump maintains a constant, static fuel pressure in the injection rail under all operating conditions when the gasoline engine is running.
- Another embodiment provides that the pump is connected to a control or regulating device which controls the delivery rate and / or the discharge pressure of the pump as a function of the speed and the load on the gasoline engine.
- the invention teaches that the components of the fuel tank, flow line system and return line system consist of plastic and consequently have poor heat conduction.
- These components can have a heat-insulating coating made of heat-insulating plastic, e.g. B. have polyurethane, for. B. cohesively connected to the components. This can be done in a simple way, e.g. B. by overmolding the components with the thermal insulation plastic.
- the fuel supply system shown in the figures is intended for a motor vehicle with a gasoline engine that has a fuel injection system and an injection rail.
- the motor vehicle and its gasoline engine were not drawn.
- the fuel tank 1 include a fuel tank 1, a pump 2, a flow line system 3 from the fuel tank 1 to the injection bar 4 and a return line system 5 from the injection bar 4 to the fuel tank 1.
- the fuel tank 1 is provided with a ventilation device 6 and in remaining separated from the free atmosphere.
- Fuel tank 1, pump 2, flow line system 3 and injection bar 4 form a fuel supply device, the pump 2 of which delivers when the gasoline engine is running in accordance with its different operating conditions.
- the return line system 5 is connected to the injection bar 4 via a controllable overflow valve 7, which overflow valve 7 can only be controlled briefly when the gasoline engine is started in the open position. There is therefore no excess supply, which would make a continuous overflow of the overflow valve and a fuel circulation necessary during the operation of the gasoline engine.
- the overflow valve 7 can be controlled via a starter control device 9 for the gasoline engine and / or via the pressure of the pump 2 when the gasoline engine is started in the open position.
- the pump 2 has a very high efficiency, so that the power loss is low and thus the amount of heat generated by the pump 2 and its drive is small.
- the heat generated by the running pump 2 is decoupled from the fuel tank 1 by suitable measures.
- corresponding heat-insulating measures could be carried out, even if the pump 2 with its drive is in the fuel tank 1.
- the pump 2 is arranged with its drive outside the fuel tank 1 and consequently the heat generated by the running pump 2 is decoupled from the fuel tank 1 in this way.
- the fuel supply must be set up accordingly.
- One possibility is to make the arrangement and design so that the pump 2 maintains a constant static fuel pressure in the fuel rail 4 with the gasoline engine running and all operating conditions. If the overflow valve 7 is to be opened briefly via the pressure of the fuel when the gasoline engine is started, the pump 2 generates a corresponding pressure pulse, which is directly or indirectly for the Control of the overflow valve 7 can be used. However, there is also the possibility of connecting the pump 2 to a control or regulating device 10, which controls the delivery rate and / or the discharge pressure of the pump 2 as a function of the speed of the gasoline engine.
- the components fuel tank 1, flow line system 3, return line system 5 are expediently made of plastic.
- FIG. 2 shows the fuel supply system according to the invention for a motor vehicle with a gasoline engine, which has a fuel injection system with an injection bar 4 and which is basically constructed as described for FIG. 1, but does not show a return line system 5 from the injection bar 4 to the fuel tank 1 having.
- the fuel tank 1 is thermally insulated.
- the pump 2 is arranged with its drive outside the fuel tank 1.
- the pump 2 is connected to a control or regulating device 10, which controls the discharge pressure of the pump 2 as a function of the speed of the gasoline engine.
- a demand-dependent fuel supply takes place via this control.
- the fuel supply system shown in FIG. 2 with a return line system with an overflow valve, which is already in the is only briefly controllable when the gasoline engine is started in the open position. It can be thermally insulated.

Abstract
Description
- Fig. 1
