Definitions

  • the invention relates to a washing machine with an at least approximately horizontally mounted laundry drum, which is partly filled with lye and laundry for washing, is operated at a speed at which the laundry does not abut the drum jacket, and with drivers arranged on the inside of the drum jacket Raising the laundry from the wash bath to a height from which it falls back into the wash bath, the drivers having an asymmetrical cross-sectional profile and their flanks standing at uneven angles on the drum jacket, and which is also set up for spinning.
  • Such a washing machine is known from US Pat. No. 2,214,131.
  • the drivers are profiled asymmetrically because the laundry drum is only rotated in a certain direction of rotation and the drivers should oppose the laundry load in this particular direction of rotation with a sufficiently large section modulus. They are therefore particularly stiff for this direction of movement of the laundry, although consisting of thin sheet metal, due to the asymmetrical profile.
  • the invention has for its object to make this known fact usable in a washing machine in such a way that items from different types of laundry fabric can be treated in a suitable manner in one and the same washing machine.
  • a washing machine in which water from the lowest area of the laundry drum is taken up by the drivers and guided through drain holes in one flank of the drivers from a certain upper position into the interior of the drum, can be in a washing machine according to the invention significantly improve the wetting effect if, according to the invention, the drum is preferably operated up to only in the direction in which the drainage holes are arranged in the front flank.
  • a washing machine which is suitable for carrying out such a method has drainage holes in that flank of each driver which is on the drum shell with the blunt of the two angles. This allows the greatest possible amount of water from each driver to the highest possible position before the water is released into the drum interior. This produces the best possible irrigation effect.
  • a method for washing laundry in a washing machine according to the invention can advantageously be set up in such a way that the drum when washing insensitive laundry (cottons, colored clothes) from the point of view of the driver cross-sections preferably in the direction of the obtuse flank angles and when washing sensitive laundry (wool , Delicates, Easy care) is preferably turned in the direction of the more acute flank angle.
  • the laundry can be treated more gently on the one hand and the formation of an indissoluble laundry ring can be prevented much better if, according to the invention, the drum is rotated in the direction of the more acute flank angles from the point of view of the driver cross sections.
  • the laundry drum 1 contains three drivers 2 uniformly distributed on the inner circle of the drum shell 3.
  • Their unevenly wide flanks 4 and 5 represent the parabola line of the cross-sectional profile, the apex 6 of which is eccentrically above the base lying on the drum shell 3.
  • the flanks 4 and 5 are accordingly based on different angles, namely the wider flank 4 with the more acute angle ⁇ and the narrower flank 5 with the obtuse angle ⁇ .
  • This asymmetrical design of the driver leads to laundry being lifted further from the view of the driver cross-sections in the direction of the obtuse angle ⁇ , that is to say in direction A (FIG. 1), than laundry which is being turned on in direction B when rotating the drum the respective wider edges 4 of the driver 2 comes to rest. From there, the laundry items slip off earlier and are therefore not raised as far as in the direction of rotation A.
  • These relationships can be used to advantage in a method for washing laundry according to the invention, by washing insensitive laundry, for example cottons or colored laundry, which Drum is preferably rotated in direction A. The laundry is raised higher in this direction before it falls back into the suds bath from this greater height. This introduces a greater amount of mechanical action on the laundry items.
  • Such a preference for the direction of rotation A can be given by ensuring that when setting the reversing times that the direction of rotation A is switched on longer is as the direction of rotation B. Variations of this direction of rotation ratio are suitable to take into account different degrees of laundry sensitivity.
  • the washing process can be better adapted to sensitive types of laundry (e.g. wool, delicates or easy-care items) in that the direction of rotation B compared to the direction of rotation A contains larger portions in the reverse rhythm.
  • the laundry is not lifted very often. Rather, it is mostly only slightly raised in direction of rotation B before it slides back into the caustic bath. So the laundry is loaded with only a small amount of mechanics.
  • the steepness of the angles ⁇ and ⁇ will preferably be adjusted to the extreme points of the sensitivity scale of items of laundry to be treated, e.g. choose a very acute angle ⁇ for wool, while the angle ⁇ for linen can be very steep.
  • the height h of the driver cross-section determines the possible fall height in conjunction with the choice of the angles ⁇ and ⁇ .
  • a variance of the values of the obtuse angle ⁇ is not as important as the variance of the heights h, while a variance of the values of the acute angle ⁇ has a greater influence on the drop height than the height h of the driver cross section.
  • the wetting effect is greatest when the drum is operated in a direction of rotation in which the drainage holes for the washing of the laundry are arranged on the front flank of the drivers. The greatest possible amount of water can then be lifted up by each driver and distributed over the laundry if the drain holes are arranged on the narrow flank 5 of the driver and the drum 1 is operated in the direction of rotation A.
  • the equipment of the laundry drum according to the invention accommodates the gentle treatment of laundry. If the laundry drum is moved in the direction of rotation B during the spin cycle, the laundry is distributed around the drum circumference in such a way that parts of the laundry rest on the wider surface of the flank 4 of the catches 2 and are finally pressed there.
  • the obtuse angle between the inner surface of the drum lying outside the driver and the outer surface of the flank 4 of the driver as a supplementary angle to the angle ⁇ ensures that the laundry is applied to the surfaces with almost no crease imprint. This is particularly important in laundry treatment programs in which spin phases with partially higher spin speeds (over 800 rpm) are used in the rinse section and in the final spin program.
  • washing rings that usually occur during spinning no longer form so stably along the drum jacket, because on the one hand the crease impression on the drivers is considerably less and on the other hand the laundry is largely hollow from the upper apex line of the drivers above the steeper flank 5, i.e. is not in direct contact with the drum jacket.
  • the measures according to the invention bring about a better mixing of the laundry without Tangles and with improvement of cleaning results.
