Abstract

A walking beam furnace for the heat treatment of piece goods, in particular metal sheets, which has a transport device for conveying the goods to be treated through the furnace, which device has two groups of longitudinal beams (1, 2) which alternately transport the goods stepwise. These longitudinal beams lie alternately at a spacing next to one another, there being provided under each beam a subconstruction (6) which supports it and is movable with it and which brings about the vertical movement and the horizontal movement in the longitudinal direction of the furnace of the longitudinal beam and of the comovable bottom part of the furnace, which is generally situated underneath the beam. Provided between each two adjacent subconstructions is a water gutter (8) which extends approximately over the entire furnace or oven length, is not movable with the subconstructions and in which immersion strips (9), which are arranged on the adjacent sub-constructions and movable with them, are immersed in order to seal the oven in a gastight manner at its bottom. The water gutters consist of individual longitudinal sections (10) which at their abutting front ends are of essentially flangeless design and are welded or cemented to one another. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a step-by-step furnace for the heat treatment of lumpy material, for example sheet metal, with a transport device for conveying the material to be treated through the furnace, which has two groups of longitudinal beams alternately transporting the material step by step. These longitudinal beams are alternately spaced apart, whereby under each longitudinal beam there is provided a substructure that supports and moves with it, which causes the vertical and horizontal movement of the longitudinal beam in the longitudinal direction of the furnace and the movable bottom part of the furnace, which is generally located below it. Between each two adjacent substructures there is a water channel that does not move with the substructures and extends over the entire length of the furnace or hearth, into which immersion strips arranged on the adjacent substructures and movable with them are immersed in order to close the furnace gas-tight on its bottom. The water channels are composed of individual longitudinal sections for design reasons.

In the known step-by-step furnaces of this type, the longitudinal sections of the water channels are provided at their abutting front ends with outwardly projecting flanges which are bolted to one another with the interposition of sealing strips in order to achieve a firm and liquid-tight connection of the longitudinal sections placed against one another.

In view of the fact that the piece goods to be treated in the furnace must be supported on at least two longitudinal beams per bar group and that sheet-like piece goods should not or only slightly protrude laterally on its edge for reasons of support, the smallest possible center-to-center distance between the neighboring walking beams of the two groups of beams are desirable. In the step-by-step furnaces known to date, however, it was not possible to achieve a center distance of less than 400 mm due to the design-related minimum cross-sectional dimensions of the water channels and dip strips and the supporting and substructures of the longitudinal beams located at approximately the same height, so that previously thin sheets were transported because of the risk of excessive side overhang that causes great problems.

The invention is therefore based on the object of reducing the center-to-center distance of the longitudinal beams in a step-by-step furnace of the type mentioned at the beginning, ie bringing it to a distance of less than 400 mm. This is achieved according to the invention in that the longitudinal sections of the water channels are essentially flangeless at their abutting ends and are welded or glued to one another. By eliminating the flanges, the maximum width dimensions of the water channels are significantly reduced, which also means that mutual minimum distance of the adjacent supporting or substructures of the longitudinal beams located on the sides of the water channels can be reduced. This makes it possible to reduce the center distance of two adjacent longitudinal beams to less than 400 mm. The welded or adhesive connection can easily be made sufficiently stable and liquid-tight so that there is no risk of leaks in the water channels.

.In the flangeless design of the longitudinal sections according to the invention, they are expediently butt at their ends, that is to say welded or glued to their abutting surfaces. If it should appear necessary for reasons of strength, the longitudinal sections can additionally be attached to at least one longitudinal wall, for example on the underside of the bottom wall, and e.g. by welding, gluing or the like. attached connecting straps to be connected to each other. .

Since in the inseparable connection of the longitudinal sections according to the invention, the water channels cannot be disassembled for repair or renewal purposes and can be moved out of the oven in separate sections and brought back to their place of use, it is expedient for the oven to be at its entry or exit end the ends of the water channels is designed so that the entire length of the water channels can be moved out of the oven in one piece in the longitudinal direction. This can be done in that the furnace is designed at this end free of obstacles for such moving out. This also makes sense because of the simpler assembly.

Fig. 1
zeigt einen Querschnitt durch den unteren Herdteil dieses Gleichschrittofens in vereinfachter Darstellung;
Fig. 2
The drawing shows a particularly advantageous exemplary embodiment of the step-by-step furnace according to the invention, which is described in more detail below:
Fig. 1
shows a cross section through the lower hearth part of this step-by-step furnace in a simplified representation;
Fig. 2
shows a water channel provided in this step-by-step furnace in a broken view in an oblique view.

The step-by-step furnace shown in the drawing has two groups of longitudinal beams 1, 2 lying next to one another in the cross section of the furnace, the beams 1, 2 of both groups being alternately spaced apart. Under each of these longitudinal beams 1, 2 is a base part 3 forming the hearth of the furnace, which is connected via supports 4 to the longitudinal beam 1 or 2 located above. These bottom parts usually consist of heat-resistant blocks, which are held in a version 5.

The longitudinal beams 1, 2 of each beam group, together with their base parts 3, perform a vertical and a horizontal transport step movement directed in the longitudinal direction of the furnace, for which purpose a correspondingly movable support and substructure 6 is provided on the underside of each base part.

In order to achieve a gas-tight closure of the furnace on its underside, are fixed under the gaps between the bottom parts 3 with each other or between the outer bottom parts 3 and the adjacent ones Sidewalls 7 of the furnace to the side of the support and substructures 6 water channels 8 are provided, which are filled with water, into which immersion strips 9, which effect the gas closure, are immersed, on the two lateral lower edges of the base parts 3 or on the edge of the outer base parts fixed side walls 7 of the furnace are arranged. Water channels 8 and immersion strips 9 extend essentially over the entire length of the furnace or stove, the water channels being fixed in the oven and the immersion strips arranged on the base parts 3 being moved with these base parts.

Because of the relatively large length of the water channels, they each consist of a number of longitudinal sections 10 arranged one behind the other in the channel longitudinal direction with wall thicknesses that are constant over their length. These longitudinal sections are welded or glued liquid-tight at their ends with their butted abutting surfaces.

By means of this welded or adhesive connection, the longitudinal sections of each water channel 8 are permanently connected to one another. They cannot therefore, like the releasably bolted longitudinal sections in the previously known step-by-step furnaces of the type mentioned at the outset, be detached from one another for the purpose of repairing or exchanging the channels and individually moved out of the furnace or brought to their place of use. Since the water channels in the step-by-step furnace just described is only possible in its entirety, that is to say in its entire length, it should be possible to carry out a repair or a replacement of the water channels in the simplest possible manner without extensive dismantling of furnace parts being necessary , the furnace at one of its ends, either at its entry or exit end in the area of the Front ends of the water channels should be designed so that there there are no obstacles for moving the water channels out of the furnace in the longitudinal direction.

In order to be able to disassemble and reassemble the water channels in their entire length without first removing the dip rails, the end walls of the channels should e.g. be removable by screws with the insertion of seals.
