Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a device complementary to skiing allowing the mounting of a set of bindings of a boot on a ski.
  • a shoe is attached to an alpine ski using a set of safety bindings comprising a stop located at the front of the shoe and a heel located at the rear thereof, the shoe whose sole is rigid being pinched elastically between the stop and the heel.
  • a first observation which is essential is that the ski area between the stop and the shoe fixing heel is, in conditions of use, stiffened by the shoe.
  • the longitudinal thrust force of the heel piece of the bindings on the boot tends to increase the camber of the ski.
  • the means envisaged are various and can be: a wedging of the base of the ski bindings, or an enhancement of the binding and boot assembly by interposition between the boot and the ski of a plate which can additionally serve as a shock absorber of vibrations, as described in document CA 1 215 403.
  • Document WO 83/03360 describes a plate carrying the bindings of the boot, the ends of which are fixed to the ski, and which delimits therewith a space filled with a damping material.
  • Document EP 0 182 776 describes a plate whose support on the ski is produced in two zones.
  • Document US Pat. No. 3,797,844 describes a plate for mounting the bindings, one end of which is fixed to the ski and the other of which has the possibility of sliding with respect to the ski.
  • the object of the invention is to provide a device complementary to skiing, studied and adapted in such a way that it plays a positive role in the behavior of skiing on snow by favorably modifying its functioning in terms of stiffness in bending and in torsion. .
  • the device which it concerns of the type comprising a plate which, receiving the set of bindings, is intended to be positioned at a distance from the upper face of the ski in a longitudinal orientation to the ski, without the possibility of movement in the lateral direction of the ski, comprises at least one slide, allowing sliding mounting of the plate, and two stops intended to provide elastic support respectively to the front and rear ends of the plate, the slide or slides as well as the two stops being intended to be fixed to the upper face of the ski and allow the plate to be kept at a distance.
  • the plate being disposed above the upper plane of the ski, raises the boot compared to the case where it rests directly on the ski.
  • this plate which is movable longitudinally against elastic means, leaves a free play to the deformations of the ski when it is in use.
  • this plate is mounted in a removable and interchangeable manner, which makes it possible to replace it almost instantaneously with another plate of different characteristics, or fitted with bindings intended for another ski size.
  • the elastic supports may consist of a visco-elastic material associated with the stops against which the plate bears, or by other elastic supports, such as coil or leaf springs.
  • the elastic supports can be prestressed definitively or equipped with means for adjusting the prestressing, by modification of the axial position of the stops or by displacement of a support member on the plate or on a elastic element associated with one or other of the stops.
  • the slides carrying the plate can be mounted in an adjustable manner longitudinally, laterally, or even be equipped with shims for adjusting their height.
  • a pad of visco-elastic material interposed locally between the plate and the ski makes it possible to dampen the parasitic vibrations.
  • the complementary ski plate can be made of aluminum alloy, of laminated material of glass fibers, of carbon, aramid (KEVLAR) or mixed, with an epoxy matrix, of alloy d laminate aluminum in a sandwich thin comprising a visco-elastic material: zicral-visco-elastic, laminate-visco-elastic, zicral-visco-elastic-laminate.
  • this plate can be ribbed.
  • the stops of the plate can be part of the structure of the ski.
  • the height of the guide zones of each slide is greater than the thickness of the parts of the plate guided in these zones, and at least one element made of visco-elastic material is supported by on the one hand against the underside of the plate and on the other hand against each slide.
  • the visco-elastic material thus constitutes one of the bearing surfaces of the plate during its longitudinal sliding movement. It ensures the sliding of the plate even if there is a certain inclination of the latter with respect to the slides. Thanks to the compressibility of the visco-elastic material, the risks of jamming are limited.
  • the visco-elastic material can be interposed between each slide and the plate at the level of the guide zones of each slide serving to guide the plate, or else be interposed between each slide and the plate, between the base of the slide fixed on the ski and the underside of the plate, or be arranged in these two arrangements.
  • the visco-elastic material located on each guide zone of each slide is of greater hardness than that of the visco-elastic material placed between the plate and the base of the slide.
  • the layer of visco-elastic material covering each guide zone of the slides forms a damped end stop.
  • the visco-elastic material interposed between the plate and the base of each slide can be in the form of strips, in the form of studs, or in the form of balls housed in a cage.
  • each visco-elastic element considered parallel to the plate, increases from the upper face of this element towards the lower face of the latter. It is thus possible to have a progressive reaction of each element of visco-elastic material as a function of the compressive strength.
  • each visco-elastic element has, in cross section, a trapezoidal section.
  • each visco-elastic element has several zones vertically offset from each other in the manner of steps.
  • each visco-elastic element consists of a composite part comprising a flexible part on the side of the base of the slide. and a part with sliding surface on the side of the plate.
  • the visco-elastic material has a hardness of between 40 and 80 shores A.
  • the value of the overhang of the plate with respect to the upper plane of each slide is greater than the value of the vertical clearance of the plate in the slides.
  • FIG. 1 represents an alpine ski 2 on which the boot of a skier is fixed by means of a fastening system comprising, in a manner known per se, a front stop 3 and a heel piece 4.
  • the fastening system 3 , 4 is not mounted directly on the ski as is usually the case, but on a plate 5 of rectangular shape, of length slightly greater than the cumulative length of the boot, the toe 3 and the heel 4.
  • the plate 5 which is made of a material having good mechanical strength, for example a light alloy, is mounted on the ski 2 by means of two slides 6, in the embodiments shown in the drawing.
  • the two slides 6 which are rigidly fixed on the ski, are oriented longitudinally thereto, and allow the engagement of the plate 5 by longitudinal sliding.
  • the two slides 6 whose length is variable and between 2 and 15 cm are arranged substantially at the front stop 3 and the heel 4.
  • each slide 6 is fixed to the ski by means of screws 7 which pass through elongated holes in the direction transverse to the ski. This allows a lateral adjustment of the position of each slide, in order to offset the plate 5 more or less laterally, or even form with the longitudinal axis of the latter an angle with the longitudinal axis of the ski, depending on the type of behavior sought by the skier.
  • the elevation of the fastening system makes it possible to increase the edge grip angle compared to a traditional assembly.
  • the permissible edge grip angle before the boot 8 takes support on the snow has a value A, taking into account the enhancement provided by the slides and the plate 5, this angle, in the case of the device according to the invention, designated by the reference B in FIG. 4, has a value greater than that of A.
  • the device according to the invention comprises two stops 9 and 10 forming part of the ski or fixed to the ski by screwing, the stop 9 being disposed at the front end of the plate 5 and the stop 10 being arranged at the rear end of the plate 5.
  • Each of the two stops 9, 10 comprises a slot 12 parallel to the plane of the upper face of the ski, opening out respectively towards the rear for the stop 9 and towards the front for the stopper 10.
  • Each of these slots 12 is filled over part of its depth by a visco-elastic material 13.
  • the front and rear edges of the plate 5 are supported inside the slots 12 against the material visco-elastic.
  • the mechanical characteristics of the plate 5 are advantageously taken into account when designing the ski.
  • the plate 5 does little disturb the deformation of the ski, all the parts of the latter working on the deformation in the same way, unlike traditional skis in which the part located at the level of the skier's shoe is blocked by it.
  • the stops 9, 10 are fixed to the ski by means of screws 14 engaged in elongated lights 15 oriented longitudinally while skiing. It is therefore possible, thanks to this arrangement, on the one hand to adjust the position of a given plate longitudinally, and on the other hand to adjust the preload of the visco-elastic elements 13.
  • FIG. 6 represents an alternative embodiment of this device in which the two abutments of the plate 5 are constituted by two leaf springs 16 fixed to the ski by screws 17.
  • FIG. 7 shows another variant of this device in which one of the stops corresponds to the stop 10 of the embodiment Figures 2 to 5, while the other stop 18 is a rigid stop comprising a support finger 19 against one of the end edges of the plate 5, the axial position of this finger 19 being adjustable by a nut 20.
  • the pressure exerted by the finger 19 against an edge of the plate makes it possible to adjust the preload of the visco-elastic material 13 associated with the stop 10.
  • FIG. 8 represents another alternative embodiment of this device comprising a stop 22 equipped with a rod resort 23 bearing against an end edge of the plate 5, the tension of this spring 23 being adjustable by a plug 24 screwed inside the body of the stop 22.
  • this device can finally comprise a blade 25 made of a visco-elastic material, disposed between the plate 5 supporting the set of bindings, and the upper face of the ski.
  • This blade of visco-elastic material without disturbing the deformation movements of the ski, has a damping of the combined vibratory movements of the ski body and of the plate 5, which improves the comfort of the skier and the precision of the ski handling. .
  • this device is interesting for the rental of skis because allowing, by interchangeability of the plates, the mounting on the same ski of fixing systems adapted to different shoe sizes, without requiring recourse, as is the Usually, to fastening systems with large adjustment ranges.
  • FIG. 9 represents a ski 102 equipped with two stops 103 and 104 respectively presenting slots 105 and 106 turned towards the rear and the front, the bottom of which is filled with a layer of visco-elastic material.
  • the plate 108 is equipped with a fixing stop 109, and a fixing heel 110 intended to grip an elastic boot.
  • FIG. 11 represents a first embodiment of the device according to the invention.
  • the slide 107 has two longitudinal guide zones 113 opening one facing the other, the height of each guide zone 113 being greater than the height of the edge 114 of the plate 108 which is intended to be engaged therein.

  • the guide zone of each groove 113 is coated with a layer 120 of visco-elastic material with a hardness greater than that of the material constituting the strips 117.
  • the visco-elastic material interposed between the underside of the plate 108 and the base of each slide 118 is constituted by a plurality of studs 122 of trapezoidal shape, the small surface of each stud being located on the side of the plate 108, while its large surface is located in contact with the base 118 of the slide.
  • Figure 14 shows yet another embodiment in which each visco-elastic element is in the form of a strip 123 the upper face of which comprises successive recesses 124 in the form of steps.
  • the plate 108 when the ski deforms, under normal conditions of use, the plate 108 can freely slide, without risk of jamming or disturbance of its sliding inside the slides, taking into account the possibility of crushing the elements of visco-elastic material.
  • the embodiments corresponding to Figures 13 and 14 allow a progressive reaction of each element of visco-elastic material depending on the compressive strength.
  • the invention is not limited to the sole embodiments of this device described above by way of examples.
