Description

The invention relates to a cosmetic applicator assembly comprising a cosmetic bar and a dispensing element, the assembly having the shape of a pen of the type of those comprising two parts: a tubular body and a cap which comes fix on said tubular body, one of the parts containing a mascara bar, at least partially hollowed out by a recess of conical or cylindrical shape, into which the dispensing element enters, for its loading, and the other part carrying a dispensing element, bearing against the mascara bar, the applicator assembly comprising a wetting device comprising a reservoir which contains a liquid used to moisten the dispensing element, the reservoir and the dispensing element being associated so that at the time of use, said element is moistened by said liquid.

EP-A-0 263 329 montre un ensemble applicateur de ce genre. L'élément de distribution est constitué par un applicateur en matière élastomère poreuse prévu à une extrémité d'un réservoir creux contenant un liquide, tel qu'un solvant ou un parfum qui, par capillarité, parvient jusqu'au contour extérieur de l'applicateur.EP-A-0 263 329 shows an applicator assembly of this kind. The dispensing element consists of an applicator made of porous elastomer material provided at one end of a hollow reservoir containing a liquid, such as a solvent or a perfume which, by capillary action, reaches the outer contour of the applicator .

With such an applicator assembly, when the container is full of liquid, at the start of use, the porous applicator will be heavily loaded with liquid, while at the end of emptying the reservoir, the porous applicator will be much less loaded with liquid. As a result, the humidification conditions of the cosmetic bread will vary, as the tank is emptied, without the user can intervene.

In particular, at the time of a cosmetic sample for application, the user may wish to moisten the cosmetic bread strongly. With the applicator assembly of EP-A-0 263 329, the user will have to be satisfied with the humidification imposed by the device, without being able, at the time of sampling, to increase this humidification.

This problem is particularly sensitive when the cosmetic is a solid mascara bar. The invention therefore aims to provide a mascara applicator assembly which allows the user to intervene on the humidification conditions of the dispensing element, in particular at the time of use.

It is further desirable that this applicator assembly remains compact.

According to a first aspect of the invention, a cosmetic applicator assembly comprising a cosmetic bar and a dispensing element, the assembly having the shape of a pen which comprises two parts, of the kind defined above, is characterized by the fact that the tubular body contains the solid mascara bar; the cap contains the liquid reservoir; and that the wetting device is controlled from the outside and comprises a pump, the suction line of which is connected to the reservoir, which is made of rigid material and mounted translatable in the cap of the applicator, the actuation of this pump being controlled by the movement of said tank.

The cap can be opened at its end which is furthest from the tubular body when the applicator assembly is in the closed position, one of the ends of the reservoir protruding from the cap, the pump being actuated by pressure on the part of the reservoir protruding from the cap.

The cap can be closed at its end furthest from the tubular body and include a bellows made of flexible material so that by pressing on the end of the cap, the bellows can be flattened and the tank moved in translation to actuate the pump.

According to another aspect of the invention, a cosmetic applicator assembly comprising a cosmetic bar and a dispensing element, the assembly having the shape of a pen, which comprises two parts, of the kind defined above, is characterized by the the tank is made of flexible material, part of the wall of flexible tank material being accessible from the outside and capable of being compressed to control the wetting device.

The end of the tank can be accessible from the outside, protrude from the cap and constitute a bellows.

The bellows can be fitted with a device allowing it to be blocked during transport.

The wetting device may comprise a channel connecting the reservoir to the rod of the dispensing element, at least part of which contains a porous material, which makes it possible to dispense by capillary action over the dispensing element the liquid coming from the reservoir.

The channel can be constituted by a tube filled with a porous material, or be entirely constituted by a porous material.

The channel can be provided, at its end fixed to the rod of the dispensing element, with an end piece made of porous material having more porosity. higher than that of the porous substance of the canal.

The mascara bread may contain, in addition to the wax and dyes, microcapsules whose wall resists the mascara pouring temperature, and protect from cosmetically active agents.

Advantageously, the liquid used to humidify the dispensing element is water or physiological saline mixed with at least one cosmetically active agent, which can be a gelling agent.

Preferably, the mascara bread is contained in a cup mounted inside the tubular body and translatable therein. A device makes it possible to move the cup in translation towards the opening of the tubular body.

The reservoir 4 is partially protruding from the cap 2 through the opening 23 and, at the end situated outside the cap 2, it is provided with a reinforcement 41 having, in cross section, a dimension such that it can come to bear on the rim of the opening 23. The reservoir 4 comprises, at the end opposite to that protruding from the cap 2, a tubular constriction 42 which is forced into the tubular constriction 61 of an intermediate air intake part 6 of the pump 5. The intermediate piece 6 is arranged in a bell above and around the pump 5 and provides, at its part furthest from the tubular constriction 61, between its wall and that of the pump 5 an annular space 62 for the air intake of the pump 5. The intermediate piece 6 is guided in the cap 2 by an annular shoulder 63, in which it can slide. The intermediate part 6 and, consequently, the reservoir 4 are integral with the piston of the pump 5. The pump 5 is a microdosing pump: the suction line 51 of the pump 5 opens in the intermediate part 6 towards the narrowing tubular 61 of the intermediate part 6. The discharge pipe 52 of the pump opens into a longitudinal chamber 24 a formed in the fixing 24 of the brush 3. The side wall of the fixing 24 is substantially in the extension of that of the cap 2 ; it comprises, at its end opposite to the discharge line 52, an opening 24 b into which the rod 31 of the brush 3 is forcibly inserted; it carries an external screw pitch 22 complementary to the screw pitch 12 of the tubular body 1. The rod 31 of the brush 3 is provided with a capillary groove 32. The brush 3 is a conical brush with capillary bristles.

The mascara bar 7 shown in FIG. 1 has the shape of a cylinder of revolution on the outside and it is hollowed out over part of its length of an axial recess 71 having a generally conical shape. The mascara bread 7 is contained in a cup 8 having a cylindrical side wall of section slightly smaller than that of the side wall 11 of the tubular body 1, so that it can slide longitudinally in said tubular body 1. The cup 8 has a bottom 81 perpendicular to the axis of the tubular body 1. The bottom 81 is secured to a helical spring 9, which is itself secured to the cover 10̸ constituting the bottom of the tubular body 1. The cup 8, the helical spring 9 and the 10̸ cover are made of plastic and constitute a single piece obtained by molding. The cover 10̸ is snapped onto the side wall 11 of the tubular body 1 by means of a skirt 10̸ a . The sub-assembly (cup 8, mascara bread 7, spring 9 and cover 10̸) can be removed from the tubular body 1 when the mascara is used up and can be replaced by another identical sub-assembly constituting a refill.

The applicator assembly illustrated in Figure 1 operates as described below. When the applicator assembly is closed, the user presses the reinforcement 41 of the reservoir 4 once or twice, protruding from the cap 2. This pressure is transmitted via the intermediate part 6 to the pump 5. liquid is sucked into the reservoir 4 by the suction pipe 51 of the pump and discharged through the pipe 52 into the chamber 24 a . The liquid circulates by capillarity along the rod 31 of the brush 3 through the capillary groove 32 and comes to moisten the brush 3. When the brush is moistened, the user unscrews the cap 2. Under the action of the spring 9, the cup 8 and therefore the mascara bar 7 are pushed towards the opening 13 of the body tubular 1. The user then rubs the brush 3 into the recess 71 of the mascara bar 7 until it obtains the desired mascara charge for making up the eyelashes. When the operation is complete, the user screws the cap 2 on again. The brush 3 pushes back the cup 8 containing the mascara bread, which crushes the spring 9; it keeps the cup 8 in place when the applicator assembly is closed.

If the user wishes to change the mascara bread 7, either because it is worn out or because she wishes to change its color, she removes the sub-assembly from the applicator assembly (cup 8 - spring 9 - cover 10̸ ) by acting on the skirt 10̸ a of the cover 10̸ and replaces it with another set.

When the reservoir 4 is empty the user can replace it by pulling it by the reinforcement 41 to disengage it from the tubular constriction 61 on which it is force-fitted by its tubular constriction 42. It takes a refill reservoir whose tubular constriction 42 is closed by a cover and presses the tubular constriction 42 onto the constriction 61 of the intermediate piece whose rim is cutting; the cover is therefore removed when the reservoir is put in place. It should be noted that the reservoir 4 can contain at least one ball 43 for stirring the liquid that it contains.

Cette bague comporte également un renflement annulaire interne 112c s'emboîtant dans une rainure circulaire correspondante de la fixation 124.Figure 2 shows in longitudinal section a second version of the applicator assembly according to the first embodiment of the invention This applicator comprises a tubular body 10̸1 and a cap 10̸2. The tubular body 10̸1 has a bottom 110̸ and a cylindrical side wall 111; it contains a 10̸7 cylindrical mascara bar having a conical internal recess 171. This 10̸7 mascara bar is mounted in a cup 10̸8 having a bottom 181 and provided on its side wall with radial fins 182 which cooperate with corresponding grooves in the tubular body 10̸1. The bottom 181 of the cup is in abutment against a metal helical spring 10̸9, itself in abutment against the bottom 110̸ of the tubular body 10̸1. The cap 10̸2 has an attached bottom 126 and a side wall 121, of flexible plastic material in which is formed a bellows 125 folded in the form of an accordion. The bottom 126 of the cap 10̸2 is a skirted cover fixed by snap-fastening to the side wall 121 of the cap 10̸2. The brush 10̸3 is fixed by its rod (not shown) to the fixing 124 of the cap 10̸2. The cap 10̸2 contains a liquid reservoir 10̸4 in rigid substance and a pump 10̸5; the skirt of the cover 126 is supported on the bottom of the reservoir 10̸4. The suction pipe 151 of the pump 10̸5 is connected to the reservoir 10̸4 and the delivery pipe 152 of said pump opens in a chamber (not shown) of the fastener 124. The fastener 124 is held in the tubular body 10̸1 with interposition of a cylindrical retaining ring 112. This ring 112 is integral with the tubular body 10̸1; it is provided, on one of its edges, with an annular flange 112 a which comes to bear on the end of the side wall of the tubular body which is closest to the cap 10̸2 when the applicator assembly is in the closed position . The ring 112 comprises, opposite the flange 112 a , an annular shoulder 112 b directed towards the inside of the tubular body 10̸1, which serves both as a wiper for the brush 10̸3 and as a stop for the cup 10̸8. This ring also has an internal annular bulge 112 c which fits into a corresponding circular groove in the fixing 124.

The applicator shown in Figure 2 works as described below. The user presses on the cover 126 of the cap and therefore pushes on the reservoir 10̸4; the bellows 125 is crushed, which allows the translation of the liquid reservoir 10̸4 in the cap 10̸2. As described in the case of FIG. 1, the reservoir 10̸4 actuates the pump 10̸5 and the liquid leaving the reservoir 10̸4 will moisten the brush 10̸3. The user then pulls on the cap 10̸2 to extract it from the tubular body 10̸1 after release of the annular bulge 112 c out of its associated groove from the fixing 124. The brush comes out of the recess 171 of the mascara bar and passes through the annular shoulder 112 b of the ring 112 where it is dewatered. The cup 10̸8 which was held in place by the brush 10̸3 is pushed by the spring 10̸9, until it comes into abutment against the bulge 112 b of the ring 112. The user then rotates the brush 10̸3 in the recess 171 mascara bread and load the mascara brush. The radial fins 182 of the cup 10̸8 prevent the latter from rotating during this operation. When the user has placed the desired load of mascara on the brush 10̸3, she proceeds to make up the eyelashes. When the makeup is finished, it closes the applicator assembly: the brush 10̸3 is reintroduced into the recess 171 and repels the cup 10̸8 by crushing the spring 10̸9.

The applicator shown in FIG. 3 consists of a tubular body 20̸1 and a cap 20̸2. The tubular body 20̸1 has side walls 211 and its bottom is closed by a snap-on cover 210̸. It contains a mascara bar 20̸7 provided with a conical recess 271; the mascara bread 20̸7 is itself contained in a cup 20̸8 which forms, as described in the case of FIG. 1, an assembly obtained by molding with a helical spring 20̸9 and the cover 210̸. The cap 20̸2 has an opening 223 at its end opposite to the tubular body 20̸1; at its other end, it is provided with a fixing 224 on the outside of which is formed an annular snap-fitting bulge 224 c corresponding to an annular snap-in groove 212 c of the retaining ring 212 described below. The reservoir 20̸4 is made of flexible material and one of its ends protrudes through the opening 223 out of the cap 20̸2. The protruding part 243 has the shape of a bellows and is protected by a removable cap 244. The channel 20̸5 is constituted by a rod of porous rigid material. One of the ends 251 of this rod is cut in a bevel; the other end carries an end piece 252 made of porous material having a higher porosity than that of the material of the rod; the rod 231 of the brush 20̸3 is force-fitted into this nozzle. The length of the rod 231 left free between the nozzle 252 and the brush 20̸3 is small, or even zero. The rod 20̸5 is force-fitted into a narrowed tubular part 242 of the reservoir 20̸4. The tubular body 20̸1 fits onto the fixing 224 of the cap 20̸2 with the interposition of a retaining ring 212. This ring 212 is integral with the tubular body 20̸1; it is provided on one of its edges with an annular flange 212 a , which comes to bear on the rim of the side wall 211 of the tubular body; at its opposite end, it has an annular shoulder 212 b directed towards the inside of the tubular body 20̸1, which serves both as a wiping lip for the brush 20̸3 and stop for the cup 20̸8.

The applicator assembly of FIG. 3 operates as follows. When the applicator is closed, the pressure exerted by the brush 20̸3 in the recess 271 of the mascara bread 20̸7 keeps the cup 20̸8 in place. To wet the brush, the user removes the cap 244, which protects the bellows 243 during transport, and presses on said bellows 243. The liquid contained in the reservoir 20̸4 is then pushed into the porous rod 20̸5 where it circulates by capillary action, then in the porous tip 252. It then forms at the end of this porous tip drops which fall on the brush 20̸3 and moisten it. The user then releases the cap 20̸2 from the tubular body 20̸1. The cup 20̸8 is pushed by the spring 20̸9 until it comes into abutment against the annular shoulder 212 b of the retaining ring 212. The user can then rub the brush 20̸3 against the mascara bar 20̸7 by rotating it in the conical recess 271. The brush 20̸3 is an oval brush whose dimension, in each cross section, is greater than that of the conical recess 271. Thus when it is fully inserted in the conical recess 271 and that the user turns it, it loads well with mascara. The user can re-moisten the brush if necessary by pressing the bellows 243 again. She then closes the applicator. The brush 20̸3 is inserted again into the recess of the mascara bar 271, which pushes the cup 20̸8 and crushes the spring 20̸9. The user finally puts on the cap 244 to protect the bellows 243 during transport. The molded assembly in one piece comprising the cover 210̸, the helical spring 20̸9 and the cup 20̸8 into which the mascara bread 20̸7 has been introduced. can be changed if the mascara bread contained in cup 20̸8 is worn out or if the user wishes to change the color of mascara. The reservoir 20̸4 can also be changed, for example when it is empty. The refill tank is initially closed at the end of its tubular constriction 242 by a cover, which is broken when it is forced into the bevel end 251 of the rod 20̸5.

In this version, the wetting device of the brush comprises a channel 30̸5 formed by a tube 351 filled with a porous substance 355. The applicator assembly comprises, on the one hand, a tubular body 30̸1 containing the mascara bread 30̸7 itself even contained in a cup 30̸8 and, on the other hand, a cap 30̸2 containing a reservoir 30̸4 provided with a bellows 343. The cap 30̸2 is extended at one end by a fixing 324 which carries a brush 30̸3. The tubular body 30̸1 fits onto the fastener 324, where an annular groove 324 c has been formed, with the interposition of a retaining ring 312 comprising an annular snap-in bulge 312 c and an annular shoulder 312 b forming a lip of spin and stop for the cup 30̸8. The tube 351 is inserted by one of its ends 352 open into the tank 30̸4; its other end is provided with a small opening 354 for the passage of the liquid and comprises a housing for the establishment of the rod 331 of the brush 30̸3. In the mascara bread 30̸7, is formed a conical recess 371. The cup 30̸8 has a tail 381, which projects out of the tubular body through the bottom 310̸ of the tubular body 30̸1 by a circular opening 310̸ a and which serves as a pusher. A helical return spring 30̸9 is disposed between an outer annular projection of the cup and the bottom 310̸ of the tubular body.

When the user presses on the bellows 343 of the cartridge 30̸4, the liquid contained in the reservoir 30̸4 is pushed through the porous substance 355 and leaves through the opening 354 to fall drop by drop on the brush 30̸3. After having disengaged the cap 30̸2 from the tubular body 30̸1, the user pushes on the tail 381 of the cup 30̸8 towards the ring 312: this movement can take place until the cup 30̸8 abuts against the shoulder 312 b . The user holds the cup 30̸8 in place and turns the brush in the recess 371 of the bread until she considers that the load of the mascara brush is sufficient. It then stops pressing on the tail 381 forming a pusher. After makeup, the user closes the applicator by fitting the cap 30̸2 into the tubular body 30̸1, the mascara bar being held in abutment against the brush by the spring 30̸9.
