The selector is articulated on the brake device which also carries the shaft of the propulsion lever. The brake device is itself adapted to turn about the drive shaft of the driving wheels. The selector carries a stop finger carrying a brake stop and a propulsion stop cooperating respectively with the brake device and with the propulsion device to prevent the movement which does not correspond to the position selected.

Description

The invention relates to a propulsion roller skate comprising a roller frame, on which a pedal, supporting the foot, pivots about a transverse axis from a standby position to actuate a two-position selection device controlling either a device of propulsion of the rollers, or a braking device, part of the organs of the propulsion and braking devices cooperating to prohibit in the selected position, the actuation of the device not selected.

European patent application EP-A 0 114 131 describes exemplary embodiments of propulsion roller skates which include means making it possible to select, from a waiting position, a propulsion position by pushing the heel on the rear. of the pedal and a braking position by a push on the front of the pedal, by tiptoe. When a position has been selected, it is not possible to select the other position without returning to the standby position.

According to an example described, the selection device consists of a part of the braking and propulsion devices, two elements of which are capable of bracing one above or below the other to select, at from the standby position, the propulsion or braking position.

The mechanism for selecting functions and implementing them is complex. The relatively large number of parts and, for some, their cable drive do not confer sufficient robustness to the product and could not result in sufficiently economical marketing.

The subject of the invention is the production of propulsion roller skates which are simpler and more robust than those previously known.

The pads, according to the invention, are remarkable in that the selection device consists of a selector on which the pedal is articulated, comprising positioning pins capable of cooperating with positioning notches provided on the chassis, lugs stop capable of cooperating with the braking device when the selector rotates about its axis, carried by said device, to select the "propulsion" position, and a stop finger comprising a propulsion stop and a braking stop, the stop propulsion system cooperating with a propulsion lever articulated on the braking device, itself articulated on a drive axis around which it is capable of turning in the "braking" selection position to act on the drive wheels, the stop of braking cooperating with a pawl to immobilize the braking device in the "propulsion" selection position, elastic means are provided to return the selector to the "standby" position when no pressure is exerted on the pedal.

The propeller roller skate according to the invention is shown in perspective in Figure 1, the selection mechanism being in the standby position. This position is obtained whenever the skate is no longer in contact with the ground and is suspended under the skater's foot.

The skate has a chassis on which the wheels are mounted, an actuation pedal on which the foot rests and selection and propulsion mechanisms.

The chassis 1 is approximately in the form of a U-shaped piece carrying at the front and at the rear two idler wheels 2 and 3. The axle 4 of the front wheel 2 is directly held by the wings 5, 6 of the chassis, while the axle 7 of the rear wheel 3 is mounted on a stirrup 8 fixed to the base 9 of the chassis.

The wings 5, 6 of the chassis carry, approximately half the length of the chassis, a shaft 10 at the ends of which the drive wheels 11, 12 are fixed. According to a characteristic of the skate, when the latter rests on a horizontal surface, only the driving wheels 11, 12 and a loose wheel 2 or 3 rest on said surface so as to reinforce the movement leading to the selection of the functions.

The wings 5, 6 have in the area close to the shaft 10 on their outer edge two positioning notches 13, 14 separated by a lug 15 whose edges form guide ramps for each of the notches.

L'axe d'entraînement 16 sert d'axe de rotation au dispositif de freinage 37, 38.The wings carry, behind the notches 13, 14, coaxial bores forming bearings for a drive pin 16 on the central part of which is fixed part of the drive means of the propulsion device, these means comprising a toothed pulley 17 driven by a toothed belt 18 cooperating with a propulsion lever. The drive axle 16 carries a drive toothed wheel 19 which cooperates with a toothed pinion 20 fixed on the shaft 10 of the drive wheels 11, 12. A freewheel coupling is provided in the drive kinematic chain . The drive axis 16 serves as an axis of rotation for the braking device 37, 38.

The pedal 21, on which the skater's foot is fixed, is essentially formed by a plate carrying near its rear end, on its edges the téral and perpendicular to its plane, two legs 22, 23 provided with bearings cooperating with two coaxial holding pins 24, 25 provided on the selector 26 and around which the pedal pivots.

The selector 26, shown on a larger scale and in perspective in FIG. 5, is in the form of a U-shaped part, the lateral branches 27, 28 of which are connected by one of their longitudinal edges to the transverse branch 29 The lateral branches each carry, from their free ends, a positioning stud 30, 31 and a hinge stud of the pedal 24, 25, directed outwards, a stop lug 43, 44 directed towards the inside, an axis of rotation 32 of the selector and at the rear end, a stop bar 41. The pins, pins, axis and stop are perpendicular to the vertical plane of symmetry of the selector.

The face of the transverse branch 29, located inside the lateral branches, carries in a perpendicular plane a finger with stops 33, the end of which has two notches transversely offset, the openings of which are directed towards the rear and towards the 'front of the skate, and which respectively constitute a propulsion stop 34 and a braking stop 35.

The axis of rotation 32 of the selector crosses the finger 33 and provides the connection with a part of the braking device 37, 38 itself connected to the chassis 1 by the drive axis 16 around which it is able to rotate freely.

The braking device consists at least in part of two flanges 37, 38 having approximately the shape of a rectangular trapezoid whose acute angle is directed towards the front of the skate and whose small base forms the upper part. The flanges carry at their lower part, near the rear, a bore in which the drive pin 16 freely passes around which the device can rotate. The flanges are held together by spacers and are arranged symmetrically with respect to the vertical plane of symmetry of the shoe. The flanges have near their upper edge a bore in which passes the axis of rotation 32 of the selector and in the upper rear corner a connecting spacer 39 on which is fixed the end of a tension spring 61 whose another end is hooked to the chassis 1. This spring keeps the braking device raised in the "waiting" and "propulsion" selection positions by abutting the lower rear angle 65 against the chassis. The upper edge of the flanges carries from the rear to the front a rear stop notch against which abuts the rear stop bar 41 of the selector 26 when the selector is in the "standby" or "braking" position; a front stop notch 42 against which abut the stop lugs 43, 44 of the selector in the "propulsion" position.

The lower edge of the flanges carries, between the bore of the drive axis 16 and the acute angle, braking means capable of cooperating directly or indirectly with the drive wheels 11, 12. According to the exemplary embodiment, there are provided housings 49, 50 carrying brake linings 51, 52 capable of cooperating with friction discs 53, 54 integral with the wheel shaft 10. There is also provided, in front of the housings 49, 50, a spacer spacer 55 against which an arm of the propulsion lever 57 rests.

The flanges carry forward a spacer axis 56 around which the propulsion lever 57 pivots. Depending on the characteristics of the device, the spacer axis 56, the drive axis 16 and the axis of rotation of the selector 32 determine a isosceles triangle whose apex is represented by axis 56.

Lorsque le sélecteur est en position propulsion, ledit cliquet coopère avec la butée de freinage 35 du sélecteur dans la position "propulsion".One of the flanges 38 carries at its rear lower part a hinge pin 45 on which is mounted a pawl 46 returned to the high position by a spring 47, fixed to the flange. When the selector is in the propulsion position, said pawl cooperates with the braking stop 35 of the selector in the "propulsion" position.

The fixings of two return springs 62, 63 fixed to the stop bar 41 of the selector are provided at the lower rear end of the flanges 37, 38.

The propulsion device comprises a propulsion lever 57 capable of turning around the axis 56 between two positions limited by a rear stop 55 and a front stop 58, under the action of the pressure exerted by the pedal 21 at the end front of the lever.

The stops can be produced in another form and for example the stop 58 can be eliminated and replaced by the stop of the pedal 21 against the braking device 37, 38.

The rear end of the lever cooperates with a belt capable of moving by driving the drive axis 16. According to the embodiment, a toothed belt 18, driven by the lever, passes over a toothed pulley 17, integral with the drive axis 16. One end of the belt 18 is hooked to a tension spring 68 fixed to the chassis 1. In order to allow a sufficient stroke of the end of the lever 57, the belt passes over a return pulley 64 provided on the chassis 1.

The drive axle 16 carries a toothed wheel 20 which cooperates with a toothed pinion 19 integral with the wheel shaft 10.

The propulsion lever 57 is separated into two arms, a front arm 66 and a rear arm 67, by the axis of rotation 56. According to the embodiment, the front arm 66 which cooperates with the pedal 21 which actuates it is more as long as the rear arm and has a contact surface with the pedal having a cam profile.

The purpose of this profile is to allow the displacement of the point of application of the propulsion force so that at the start of propulsion, the lever arm is as long as possible to reduce the effort necessary to overcome the inertia force and that at the end of the travel, the displacement of the end of the lever arm driving the belt is as large as possible.

A similar effect can be obtained by providing on the arm 66, for example, a retractable roller which only comes into action when the force necessary for propulsion is sufficiently low to allow actuation with a reduced length of lever arm.

The front end of the lever 57 carries in its part in lower a stop 58 which abuts against the chassis 1 at the end of the stroke of the propulsion movement.

The upper face of the rear end of the lever forms a hook 59 which, in the "standby" position of the selector 26, is perpendicular to the propulsion stop 34.

At this same end, the lever carries, on its face opposite the flange 38, a stud 60, perpendicular to its vertical plane of symmetry, capable of pressing on the pawl 46 against the action of the return spring 47 when the selector 26 is in the "standby" and "braking" positions.

The operating mode of the various parts constituting the pad is described below according to the selection made from the standby position.

In the "waiting" position (FIG. 2), no pressure is exerted on the sole 21 of the skate which is suspended from the skater's foot. The selector 26 is tilted upwards around its axis 32 under the action of the return springs 62, 63, the stop bar 41 being in contact with the stop notch of the braking device 37, 38 which is itself tilted upwards around the motor axis 16 under the action of the spring 61, the rear angles 65 of the flanges being in abutment against the chassis. The propulsion stop 34 secured to the selector is placed directly above the hook 59 of the end of the propulsion lever 57 without being hooked. The stud 60, carried by this same end, presses on the pawl 46 to tilt it down, against the action of the return spring 47 and keep it beyond the braking stop 35 carried by the selector finger 26 .

The propulsion selection position (Figure 3) is obtained, as previously explained, by pushing the heel on the back of the pedal, first putting the rear wheel in contact with the ground, the body weight then resting in the lift polygon delimited by said rear caster 3 and the drive wheels 11, 12. This thrust causes the selector to tilt around its axis 32 against the action of the return springs 62, 63 so as to engage the positioning pins 30 , 31 in the positioning notches 13 carried by the wings of the chassis and the stop lugs 43, 44 behind the front stop notches 42 of the braking device. This combined action results in the locking of the braking device. The stop finger 33 secured to the selector has tilted in a position such that the propulsion stop 34 clears the passage of the hook 59 thus allowing the propulsion lever 57 to be able to rotate on its axis 56 under the action of the pedal 21 while the braking stop 35 is positioned above the pawl 46 which rises to block the stop as soon as a movement on the front of the pedal, therefore of the propulsion lever, is initiated. This movement has the effect of removing the pressure of the stud 60 on the pawl 46 which is biased upwards by the spring 47 and is fitted into the stopper by blocking the selector in the propulsion position.

From this selected position, the forward tilting of the pedal and consequently the downward movement transmitted to the front end of the propulsion lever rotates it around the spacer axis 56 of the braking device. and produces the reverse movement of the rear end of the lever, which drives the toothed belt 18, against the action of the tension spring 68 fixed to the chassis, and produces the rotation of the toothed pulley 17 secured to the axis of drive 16 on which the toothed wheel 19 is fixed, which in turn drives the toothed pinion 20 of the shaft 10 carrying the drive wheels 11, 12.

At the end of the propulsion movement when the stop 58 before the propulsion lever 57 comes into contact with the chassis and the skater raises the foot, the selector returns to the "standby" position when the front end of the lever 57 is recalled upwards under the action of the spring 68 and the springs 69 for connection with the pedal, owing to the fact that the stud 60 of the propulsion lever presses on the pawl 46 and releases the braking stop 35.

From the standby position, the braking position is selected by pushing on the front of the pedal, with tiptoe. The pedal 21 then presses on the front end of the propulsion lever 57 which drives the braking device 37, 38 and the selector 26 via its axis of rotation 32 against the action of the spring 61. The assembly rotates then around the motor axis 16, the positioning pins 30, 31 of the selector coming into contact with the ramps corresponding to the positioning notches 14 provided in the wings of the chassis. The selector stop finger is then positioned so that the propulsion stop 34 is located above the hook 59 of the rear part of the propulsion lever, which comes to rest there as soon as sufficient effort is exerted on the 'before the pedal and therefore the lever, to rotate it around its axis. The cooperation of the hook 59 and the propulsion stop 34 prevents actuation of the lever and consequently propulsion while it secures the lever 57 and the braking device 37, 38 to allow its rotation about the axis of drive 16 and bringing the brake linings 51/52 into contact with the friction discs 53, 54 integral with the wheel shaft 10.

Once the braking position has been selected, it is possible to exert a greater or lesser braking force by pressing the front of the pedal more or less.
