Definitions

  • the invention relates to a method for packaging cigarettes by grouping them into groups of cigarettes and wrapping them in at least one blank of packaging material (tinfoil, paper or the like), the group taking along what is kept ready in a plane transverse to the conveying direction of the group Blank is inserted into pockets of a folding turret and folded during further conveyance, the folding turret being preceded by a group revolver which conveys the cigarette groups in pockets, the groups moving axially into the pockets with the cogettes aligned parallel to the group revolver and in the transverse axial direction be pushed out of these. Furthermore, the invention relates to a device for performing the method.
  • the subject of the invention is a packaging machine, in particular for cigarettes for the production of so-called soft packs.
  • These are usually designed as a soft cup pack, namely with an inner blank made of tinfoil, which completely surrounds the cigarette group to form a tinfoil block, and with a cup-shaped outer wrapper made of a paper blank. This outer covering is open at the top, so that the tinfoil block protrudes slightly from the cup pack.
  • the soft pack formed in this way is usually provided with a further outer covering made of cellophane or plastic film.
  • Such packaging is produced on high-performance packaging machines. These mostly contain revolving folding revolvers for successively folding the blanks.
  • the performance of the packaging machine is limited with intermittent folding turrets because clocked movements can only be carried out in limited speed ranges.
  • packaging machines with continuously revolving folding turrets or other folding conveyors higher turning speeds are possible.
  • the insertion of cigarettes or tinfoil blocks or packs into or out of the folding conveyor (s) requires special measures so that the continuity of the movement is maintained throughout. For this reason, continuously running packaging machines have only found limited use in practice.
  • the invention is based on the object of proposing a method and a packaging machine with cyclically driven folding turrets, in which, however, the output is increased considerably without the need for undesirably high switching speeds for the individual folding conveyors.
  • the cigarette groups are conveyed in pairs in two adjacent tracks, two cigarette groups being successively insertable into a correspondingly sized pocket in the area of an insertion station such that the cigarette groups within the pocket in the axial direction Are spaced from each other.
  • a special relative position of the group receptacles or pockets of the group revolver is provided, such that the pockets, preferably four, each located in a loading station are each directed transversely to the assigned shaft groups.
  • the longitudinal median plane of the pockets is oriented at an angle to both the radial and the tangential.
  • the pockets of the group revolver are open at least on one axially directed side and on the side lying outside in the radial direction.
  • a limitation or guidance or holder for the cigarettes is provided here during the filling and during the subsequent transport.
  • the formed cigarette groups are ejected in the area of an ejection station in a horizontal plane at a distance below the horizontal central plane of the group revolver and inserted into the pocket of a first folding revolver with the aid of a transverse cut. In the area of the same, parts of the blank are folded; additional blanks during ejection or in the area of a subsequent folding path.

  • a banderole is attached to the pack by a special banderole apparatus.
  • a banding apparatus is assigned to each lane, namely offset in the transverse direction and in the longitudinal direction.
  • Special benefits are achieved with careful handling of the cigarettes by the two-lane operation.
  • the group turret is designed for this purpose in a special way, namely with double-wide pockets in the axial direction.
  • the pockets are filled in a special way with two groups of cigarettes lying side by side in the axial direction.
  • the individual measures are carried out simultaneously on the two adjacent cigarette groups or tinfoil blocks or packs.
  • the group revolver can be designed according to the invention in such a way that the cigarette groups in the pockets are exposed to lateral pressure through an elastically compressible side wall of the pockets.
  • otherwise prefabricated tinfoil blocks are fed in two lanes to a block turret, which is comparable in structure and function to the group turret and which accommodates two tinfoil blocks adjacent to one another in the axial direction.
  • the tinfoil blocks are fed to the pockets of this block turret by means of special transfer turrets of different sizes, which are arranged in such a way that two tinfoil blocks are inserted one after the other into a pocket.
  • a cigarette group 21 consisting of three layers in the present case is first wrapped in an inner blank, namely in a tinfoil blank 22. This wraps the cigarette group 21 completely, that is, with front and bottom flaps.
  • An outer blank, namely a paper blank 23 is cup-shaped, that is to say only with bottom tabs. The upper area is open such that a partial area of the cigarette group 21 encased in the tinfoil blank 22, namely a tinfoil block 24, protrudes from the cup of the paper blank 23.
  • the device or packaging machine for the production of such (cigarette) packs 20 consists, according to the exemplary embodiment of FIGS. 1 ff., Of several units.
  • Individual cigarettes 25 are removed from a cigarette magazine 26 to form the cigarette groups 21.
  • the cigarette groups 21 arrive in a group revolver 28 rotating in cycles. From this area, the cigarette groups 21 are ejected in the area of an ejection station 29 and via an insertion station 30 into a first folding turret 31 together with a tinfoil blank 22 inserted.

  • the group turret 28 is also set up and designed for double-track operation. This means first of all that the pockets 64 are dimensioned in the axial direction in such a way that two cigarette groups 21 are accommodated side by side in each pocket. As shown, the pockets are designed like a blind hole with a insertion opening 68 on one side. A cigarette group 21 a which is first inserted into the pocket 64 is conveyed to the end of the pocket 64. The second cigarette group 21 remains in a position adjacent to the insertion opening 68. • the group turret 28 is advanced by one stroke after the tappet groups 56..59 are withdrawn. In the next position, no cigarette groups -21 are inserted into the (four) pockets 64 located in the insertion station 27. Rather, the cigarettes 25 in the cigarette shafts 43 of the shaft groups 46.49 have time after the plunger groups have been completely withdrawn to fall into the lower position. Only after switching the group turret 28 again are there two empty and two pockets 64a..64d which are already provided with a cigarette group 21a and are ready to receive in the area of the insertion station 27. The insertion process for all (four) pockets 64 can now be repeated.
  • the cigarette groups 21a, 21 are spaced apart from one another in the pockets 64, which are matched to the further packaging process.

  • the double blank 23 is divided into two individual blanks along a longitudinal dividing line 87.
  • the holding members for the cigarette groups 21 in the pockets 64 are set up for the double-track dimension.
  • Two pairs of holding fingers 76, 77 are arranged on a rotary shaft 88 on both sides of a pocket 64.
