Abstract

A steel ring (2) is attached to the upper ends of vertical supports (1), to which support arms (5) projecting both radially inwards and radially outwards are attached. A rectangular heat exchanger plate (6) with its upper narrow edge is freely suspended from each support arm (5). Wire brackets (10) protruding between the plates (6) prevent e.g. bending, swiveling and mutual contact of the plates under the influence of wind. Mutual support means which interfere with the free passage between the plates, as are necessary in the case of plate stacks, are eliminated.

Description

The invention relates to a heat exchange system which has heat exchanger plates mounted on a support at a distance from one another, the heat transfer channels of which are connected to one another.

Heat exchange systems of this type are known in which the heat exchanger plates are spaced one above the other and thus form a vertical stack. In order to achieve the greatest possible heat output or absorption power, relatively large-area but thin plates, expediently made of plastic and having a multiplicity of narrow heat transfer channels, must be used. Flawless stacking of such heat exchanger plates is usually difficult because, especially in the case of icing, excessive bending of the plates under their weight must be prevented or rendered harmless, which either results in large plate spacing with a correspondingly low space utilization or in relatively complicated support structures between the plates leads.

The present invention has for its object to provide a heat exchange system t , in which a large number of relatively large and therefore usually less dimensionally stable heat exchanger plates can be accommodated in a relatively small space, and in which the maintenance of the necessary plate spacing in order to create flawless flow channels with simple means is ensured.

This object is achieved in the heat exchange system according to the invention in that the heat exchanger plates are suspended freely downwards along an upper plate edge on horizontal support arms which are fastened at one end to the carrier arranged on supports.

An embodiment has proven to be particularly advantageous in which the carrier has a horizontal ring fastened on vertical supports, to which ring a first set of support arms projecting at uniform circumferential intervals, the length of which is smaller than the ring radius, and a second one are fastened Set of radially outwardly projecting support arms of the same length, offset circumferentially from the support arms of the first set, a rectangular heat exchanger plate being attached to each support arm in a freely hanging manner with an upper narrow side.

The hanging of the mostly relatively thin, and therefore mostly not dimensionally stable heat exchanger plates on horizontal support arms allows the combination of a large number of heat exchanger plates in relatively large systems, without the need for relatively complicated clamping frames and the adjacent plates supporting elements are required.

The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing, for example. The drawing shows:

The drawn, tower-like heat exchange system has a plurality (for example four) of U-shaped supports 1 arranged on a circle, the upper ends of which are connected to one another by a horizontal flat steel ring 2. For example, another horizontal steel ring 3 (FIG. 2) is attached to the supports at about half the height of the supports. This creates a stable cylindrical tower frame. U-profile pieces 4 sit on the steel ring 2, the vertical legs of which have beads 4a, 4b which rest against the inside of the steel ring 2 with their backs. Each of the U-profile pieces 4 has on the radially inner leg a centrally arranged vertical and partially cylindrical cross section 4a and on the radially outer leg two to the vertical by a few, for example between 5 ° and 15 °, expediently by 6 ° towards the same side inclined and ver to the side 4a ver set analog beads 4b. The arrangement of the U-profile pieces 4 on the steel ring 2 or the mutual spacing of the two beads 4b are chosen so that the number of the spacing between the same, with a radially inward view of the tower axis 4a is half as large as the number of under equally spaced, radially outward facing beads 4b. In each of these beads 4a, 4b the cross section, which is round in cross-section, sits at the closed end of a bracket-like support arm 5. These have support arms 5 welded vertically or slightly inclined to the U-profile piece 4 in accordance with the course of the beads flat legs each have an outwardly curved longitudinal stiffening bead 5a. Since the support arms 5 are attached in groups to individual profile pieces 4 and not directly to the steel ring 2, storage, transport and assembly of the individual parts of the tower system are made considerably easier.

Between the two legs of each support arm 5, the upper narrow edge of a rectangular heat exchanger plate 6 is inserted, the length of which is a multiple of its width. The expediently made of plastic, known per se, for example, from CH-PS ...... (G 5323/83), have 6 heat exchangers / plates have a plate body 7 with a plurality of longitudinal channels 7a (Fig.5) which the narrow sides of the plate body open into a distribution or collection channel 8a formed in a butt welded, cross-sectionally U-shaped channel piece 8; the channel pieces 8 are provided at one longitudinal end with a connecting piece 8b. The channel pieces 8 have a slightly larger wall thickness than the plate body per 7, so that at the transition of the two plate parts 7, 8 a narrow shoulder is formed, with which the heat exchanger plates 6, whose plate body thickness corresponds to the distance between the legs ' of the support arm 5, rest on the upper narrow side of these support arm legs. As indicated at 9 in FIGS. 1 and 3, the free leg ends of the support arm 5 are connected to each other by a screw, which prevent undesired spreading of the support arm legs and allow the heat exchanger plate 6 to be clamped in the support arm 5 under a slight contact pressure. Of course, the radial length of the (equally long) support arms 5 is considerably smaller than the radius of the steel ring 2, and the mutual distance between the radially inner support arms 5 is selected so that their radially inner ends and thus also their radially inner longitudinal edges of the they have suspended heat exchanger plates 6 still have a sufficient distance from each other so as not to touch

Thanks to the cylindrical tower structure of the system with the heat exchanger plates 6 hanging freely downwards on the radial support arms 5, a compact heat exchange system that can be set up outdoors is created, which allows a very large heat exchange surface to be accommodated with little construction effort, not only by below, above and radially outside, but, thanks to the radially inner plate-free tower space, is also accessible from the inside for the air serving as the external heat transfer medium. Thanks to the slight inclination of the radially outer heat exchanger plates 6, it is achieved that the air layers between the radially outer plates with the air layers of the radially inner plates to one another are slightly inclined, which leads to a corresponding separation and mixing of the different air flows at the transition from one ring-shaped plate set to the other when air flows radially through it; the heat absorption or emission between the air and the heat carrier circulating in the plates can thereby be considerably improved. Although in the example shown the radially inner heat exchanger plates 6 are suspended vertically hanging downwards, these plates could also be inclined to the vertical, in the same direction of inclination as the radially outer plates, or in the opposite direction of inclination. To the. To prevent inclined plates 6 from bending in the vertical direction, leading wires 5 can be provided from the support arms 5 from top to bottom, which ensure the inclined position of the plates from top to bottom.

In the case of relatively long (for example 3 to 6 m) heat exchanger plates 6, which are usually only 40 to 50 cm wide, it may be necessary to provide means which prevent the freely hanging plates from becoming too strong with their lower edge portions, for example under the influence of wind approach or even touch. For this purpose, in the example shown, steel wire brackets 10 projecting radially between the plates 6 are fastened to the lower steel ring 3 (two such additional steel rings 3 arranged at a vertical distance from one another on the supports: 1). The width of these horizontally lying brackets 10 is selected so that they practically touch the correctly hanging plates 6 and thus determine their mutual distance, so that deflection of the plates, for example due to wind, prevents them and mutual contact of these plates is problem-free is freely impossible. On the other hand, the brackets 10 formed, for example, of relatively thin steel wire cannot noticeably disrupt the passage of air between the plates.

In addition to the steel wire brackets 10 which ensure the plate spacing, a steel ring with the associated support arms 5, which is attached to the supports 1 in the region of the lower narrow sides of the freely hanging heat exchanger plates 6 and attached to the supports 1, can be fastened in vertical alignment or in accordance with the inclination of the radially outer plates, with laterally offset U-profiles be in which the lower channel pieces 8 of the heat exchanger plates 6 are secured both against lateral pivoting and against falling. In this case, the steel wire brackets 10 prevent undesired bulging of the plates.

Although the described tower-like structure of the system with two radially inner or radially outer sets of heat exchanger plates 6 suspended on a single upper steel ring 2 has proven to be particularly expedient, only a single radially inner or radially outer set of heat exchanger plates 6 could be provided. If heat exchanger plates 6 of shorter length (e.g. from 1.5 to 3 m) are to be used, two steel rings, each provided with support arms, can be provided on the supports 1 at a corresponding vertical distance above one another.

Although the cylindrical tower structure is particularly advantageous thanks to its independence from the respective air flow direction, the tower structure could also have a rectangular shape. For example, a straight line connecting the upper ends of two supports Niger support can be provided, on which on both sides and, for example, offset from each other, a set of horizontal, mutually parallel support arms is attached, on which the heat exchanger plates are suspended with their upper narrow edge.

The construction and assembly of the heat exchange system according to the invention, which of course can be used both for heating and cooling the heat carrier circulating in the plates, are simple and the design effort for securely fixing and spacing the heat exchanger plates is considerably less than in known systems of this type.
