- the present invention relates to an arrangement for a heat exchanger which has at least one internal duct for a flowing fluid and external mutually parallel fins, in the space between which air is caused to flow by means of a fan or the like.
- the aim is to increase the exchange of heat between the fluid and the air by increasing with fans the flow-speed of the air, i.e. the amount of air which flows per unit of time between the fins. Since the flow-speed at the fins is virtually nil the increased flow speed does not increase the transfer of heat to a corresponding degree.
- a prime object of the present invention is to increase the transfer of heat both by increasing the heattransfer surfaces of a heat exchanger and also by dividing the stream of air into a plurality of lesser spaces, with a more uniform flow-speed.
- the arrangement comprises a device which is made from thermally conducting material and is designed to be fitted in the said space in thermal contact with the fins on either side of the space, and which is constructed so that, when thus fitted between the fins, it effects the division of the space between them into at least two parallel ducts.
- the said device has a zig-zag or wave-shaped cross-section with its apexes adjoining the fins, it is possible for the invention to be of simple design and for the invention to be used with existing heat exchangers as well.
- the said device may comprise a wall disposed approximately centrally between the fins with flanges projecting from it and with the tips of these flanges adjoining the fins of the heat exchanger.

- the dividing device may also be fixed in the space between the fins 3, 4 by the engagement of the apexes of the zig-zag shaped dividing device with corresponding grooves 9 and projections 10.
- the said device may be fixed between the fins 3, 4 by gluing, soldering, or welding.
- the invention makes it possible to exploit the so-called chanelling effect to increase the transfer of heat by the heat exchanger.
