Description

The invention relates to a transfer drum for sheet-fed printing machines, in particular for board machines, with at least two gripper bridges, which can be adjusted to different paper thicknesses, according to the preamble of claim 1.

From GB-A-2 098 966 a device for raising and lowering the gripper pad of a gripper bridge of a sheet-guiding cylinder is known. The adjustment of the gripper pad to the thickness of the paper to be processed is carried out with an adjusting rod which is arranged in the axial direction of the cylinder against spring force by means of a screw and is arranged directly under a gripper pad extending over the entire cylinder length. Since the contact surfaces of the gripper pad and adjusting rods run in the opposite direction in the longitudinal direction of the cylinder, a displacement of the adjusting rod causes the radial height shift of the gripper pad.

Although this known device enables all individual gripper pads of a gripper bridge to be adjusted jointly, the alignment of the individual gripper pads to one another is therefore not feasible.

In cardboard machines, it is known that it is advantageous for register-containing sheet transport if the sheet-guiding cylinders and drums have a relatively large diameter, for example in offset machines, twice the diameter of plate and blanket cylinders. A gripper bridge must be provided for each sheet guiding surface of a cylinder or a transfer drum. Transfer drums with double diameter therefore have two and three with triple diameter gripper bars. If more than one gripper bridge is arranged on a cylinder or a transfer drum, even minor processing errors such as center offset or non-linearity of the individual gripper pads with respect to one another have a particularly disadvantageous effect on the register. Furthermore, it is time-consuming to individually adjust the gripper pads of several gripper bridges to the thickness of the paper or cardboard to be processed. The gripper pads of a transfer drum have to be set to exactly the same height, which certainly presents considerable difficulties.

The invention is therefore based on the object of being able to adjust the gripper pads of all gripper bridges of a transfer drum in a time-saving manner to the respective paper or cardboard thickness to be processed.

The task is solved by the objective features of the characterize part of the. A common adjustment of all gripper supports of a transfer drum via a single central adjustment device shortens the set-up time and enables easy handling. A transfer drum with several gripper bridges that could be adjusted by themselves would have to be brought into the positions by jog mode, in which each gripper bridge would be accessible. This typing alone would be very time consuming. The same height of all individual gripper pads is required, i.e. all contact surfaces must be on one level, and there must be no play in the adjustment means at any height setting. Minor manufacturing and assembly inaccuracies can be taken into account through the adjustment options provided, so that, despite several gripper bridges on a transfer drum, a good, uniform register is guaranteed for all prints of a print run. If several transfer drums according to the invention are provided in a printing press, they can be installed in such a way that the adjustment devices of all transfer drums are accessible in a certain position of all cylinders.

A transfer drum 1 according to FIG. 1 takes over a printed sheet from a printing cylinder 2 of the preceding printing unit and transfers it to its printing cylinder 3 of the subsequent printing unit. In order to achieve a safe transport not only of sheets, but also of cardboard, the transfer drum 1 is provided with a diameter which is three times as large as that of the printing unit cylinders, not shown. The diameter ratio of the pressure cylinders 2 and 3 to the transfer drum 1 is 2 to 3. Accordingly, the transfer drum 1 has three sheet support surfaces 4. A gripper bridge 5 is provided at the beginning of each arch support surface 4. These gripper bridges 5 are arranged symmetrically on the circumference of the transfer drum 1. They are attached to the drum body 6. Grippers 7 of the gripper bridge 5 act together with a continuous gripper support 8, on which a single gripper support 32 - also called support blocks - is provided for each gripper 7. The Gripper support 8 is attached to the gripper bridge bracket 9 so that it can be adjusted in the radial direction by means of screws 10. The gripper pad 8 is connected in an articulated manner to an adjusting disc 12 via a link 11. The articulation of the link 11 on the adjusting disc 12 is such that the gripper pad 8 can be displaced in the radial direction by means of the toggle lever principle by rotating the adjusting disc 12.

The handlebar 11 is provided with adjusting means 13, which allow a change in length of the handlebar 11 and thus an individual adjustment of the gripper pad. The links 11 engage at the front end of the gripper pad 8. Accordingly, an adjusting disk 12 is provided on each end of the transfer drum 1 on a shaft shoulder 14. The handlebars 11 are thus between a machine side wall 15 and the drum front wall 16. All joints must of course be made free of play.

A central adjusting device 17 is provided in an easily accessible manner on one of the three gripper bridges 5. It consists of a hexagon screw 18 with scale 19 and a screw 20 which is attached to the lower free end of the hexagon screw 18. As can be seen in particular in FIG. 2, there is a worm wheel 21 which interacts with the worm 20 on an actuating shaft 22 which is rotatably mounted in the end walls 16 of the transfer drum 1. On the respective free end of the actuating shaft 22 protruding from the end wall 16, an adjusting pinion 23 is fastened, which engages in a toothed ring section 24, which is provided on the circumference of the adjusting disks 12.

By turning the hexagon set screw 18, each of the three gripper pads 8 can be radially adjusted simultaneously by a certain amount via the worm drive 20, 21, adjusting shaft 22, setting pinion 23, adjusting disk 12 and link 11. The set height can be read on the scale 19. Due to the release of play and the individual adjustment possibility of each gripper support 8, all three gripper supports 8 are simultaneously raised or lowered precisely by the same amount. In addition, the gripper pads 8 are individually adjustable.

The embodiment of the invention shown in FIG. 3 shows a transfer drum 1 with only two gripper bridges 5. This is because the transfer drum 1 has twice the diameter of the adjacent pressure cylinders 2 and 3. The two gripper bridges 5 are diametrically opposite. They are each arranged at the beginning of the arch wing 4. The gripper pad 8, as can be seen in particular from FIG. 4, is designed as a resilient clamping beam. It has a longitudinal opening 25 which leaves only narrow webs 26 at the ends of the gripper support 8. The opening 25 divides the gripper support 8 in its longitudinal direction into a resilient tensioning rail 27 and a rigid gripper support carrier 28. In its central region, the tensioning rail 27 is fastened to the drum body 6 by screws 29. The entire gripper pad 8 is thus connected to the drum body 6 exclusively via the screws 29.

At the two ends of the gripper support 8, at the height of the webs 26, two adjusting screws 30 are screwed into threaded bores in the clamping rail 27. The respective lower end 31 of these adjusting screws 30 is supported on an adjusting cam 33. This is attached to an adjusting disc 12, which in turn is rotatably mounted on a shaft shoulder 14 between the drum end wall 16 and the machine side wall 15. The two adjusting disks 12 are connected to one another in a rotationally fixed and stable manner via cross members 34. The central adjusting device 17 is fastened to one of the two drum end walls 16 of the drum body 6. It has a bearing block 35 in which an adjusting screw 37 is mounted by means of an adjusting screw 36. This is in engagement with a ring gear segment 38, which is provided on the associated adjusting disc 12 and corresponds to its design according to a worm wheel.

By turning the adjusting screw 36 using a key, both adjusting disks 12 are rotated either clockwise or counter-clockwise via the adjusting screw 37 and toothed ring segment 38. Accordingly, the adjusting cams 33, which are fastened on the circumference of the adjusting disks 12, are rotated. Because of the pitch of these adjusting cams 33, which can follow an Archimedean spiral, for example, the adjusting screws 30 are moved radially upwards or downwards. Accordingly, the clamping rail 27 of the gripper support 8 bends. The rigid gripper support support 28 remains practically unaffected by this slight bending process and is thus moved radially up or down by the amount to be adjusted. This bracing process thus causes the height adjustment of the gripper supports 8 of both gripper bridges 5. Since the adjusting screws 30 are also individually adjustable, the gripper bridge halves can be adjusted such that the gripper support 8 runs linearly. In addition, all adjusting devices can be set or installed without play.

In a third embodiment according to FIGS. 5 and 6, the diameter ratio of the transfer drum 1 to adjacent printing cylinders 39 and 40 is four to two, i.e. the central transfer drum 1 has four gripper bridges 5 which are distributed symmetrically on the circumference. The adjacent pressure cylinders 39 and 40 have two gripper bridges 5 corresponding to the diameter ratio, which are diametrically opposed, but are not shown in FIG. 5.

The gripper pad 8 of these gripper bridges 5 is pivotally suspended around the gripper shaft 41 of the gripper 7. At each end of the gripper support 8, a double lever 43 is cast on, which receives the bearing for the gripper shaft 41, and the free end of which rests against compression springs 42 which are supported on the gripper bracket console 9. Depending on the drum width, several double levers 43 or bearings can be provided. The compression springs 42 press the gripper support 8 counterclockwise around the gripper shaft 41, so that the gripper support 8 inevitably rests against the free end of an adjusting screw 30.

As can be seen from FIG. 6, a plurality of adjusting screws 30 are provided, but at least in each end region of the gripper support 8. These are screwed into a threaded bore of a hollow shaft 45. The hollow shaft 45 is rotatably supported in the outer wall 46 of the drum body 6. The hollow shaft 45 is formed at its lower free end as a bevel gear 47 which is in engagement with a further bevel gear 48 which is fastened on the actuating shaft 22. The adjusting screw 30 is prevented from rotating by a tensioning tab 57 provided above the hollow shaft 45 in connection with the locking pin 58. The clamping tab 57 is tightened after the basic adjustment of the adjusting screws 30.

The adjusting shaft 22 is rotatably supported in the drum end walls 16. A free end of the adjusting shaft 22 carries the adjusting pinion 23, which is in engagement with the adjusting disk 12. As can be seen from FIG. 5, each gripper bridge 5 is assigned an actuating shaft 22, the actuating pinion 23 of which is positively engaged with the actuating disk 12.

Only one adjusting disk 12 is provided for adjusting all four adjusting shafts 22. It is rotatably arranged on the shaft shoulder 4 of the drum body 6 between the end wall 16 and the machine side wall 15. The central adjusting device 17 is assigned to each of the four adjusting shafts 22, specifically the one free end of each of the four adjusting shafts 22, namely at the end to which the adjusting pinion 23 is attached, is designed as an adjusting hexagon 36. By turning any desired hexagon 36, pinion 23, adjusting disk 12, adjusting shafts 22, bevel gear drives 47, 48 and adjusting screws 30 set all four gripper pads 8 exactly the same distance higher or lower, the gripper pads 8 against or with the support of the pressure of the compression springs 42 can be pivoted about the gripper shaft 41.

The embodiment shown in FIGS. 5 and 6 thus allows a basic adjustment of each gripper support 8, as well as the common adjustment of all four gripper supports 8 by means of the central adjusting device 17th

The gripper pad 8 according to the invention can also, as can be seen from FIG. 7, be fastened to a cantilevered spring beam 49 which, viewed from the gripper pad 8, is fastened behind the gripper bridge 5 to the drum body 6 by means of screws 29. The self-resilience of this relatively rigid spring beam 49 is sufficient to keep its underside always flush against one or more adjusting screws 30. By radial adjustment of the adjusting screws 30, the spring bar 49 is bent and the gripper pad 8 is adjusted in the radial direction, i.e. set higher or lower to the paper thickness to be processed.

Diese Schwenkung dient der Höheneinstellung der Greiferauflage 8.In Fig. 8, the gripper pad 8 is attached to a swivel bearing 50 instead of a spring bar 49, the bearing arms of which have approximately the length of the spring bar 49. The pivot bearing 50 itself is therefore, as seen from the gripper support 8, also arranged behind the gripper bridge 5 on the drum body 6. A tension spring 52 ensures that the gripper pad 8 always bears against the upper end of an adjusting screw 30. The gripper support 8 is pivoted about the pivot bearing 50 by radially adjusting the adjusting screws 30. This pivoting is used to adjust the height of the gripper pad 8.

It enables the gripper pad to be aligned across the drum width. The gripper pad 8 consists of an upper bar 59 and a lower bar 60, which are separated from one another by the opening 25. At each end of the gripper support 8, webs 56 connect the two beams 59, 60 to one another. The thickness of the bars 59 and 60 can be chosen to be the same or different depending on the requirements. Both bars 59, 60 are connected to one another via the opening 25 by means of clamping screws 53. A large number of such tensioning screws 53 can be provided at regular intervals from one another over the length of the gripper support 8. In the area of each clamping screw 53, the opening 25 has a recess 54 in which a double clamping nut 55 is provided, through the inner bore of which the clamping screw 53 is passed. With the help of the clamping screws 53 in cooperation with the double clamping nuts 55, a height adjustment of each individual gripper pad or an area of the gripper pad 8 can be carried out.

Figure imgb0001
It is conceivable to provide a motor drive for the central actuating device 17 and to control this motor from the control panel of the printing press or from a central control panel of several printing presses. Of course, means would also have to be provided that report the respectively set position of the gripper pads 8 to the control panel.
