Abstract

The invention relates to the manufacture of furniture by bending cardboard or comparable materials. The aim of the invention is to obtain a cupboard, dresser or piece of furniture of the same kind from a small number, for example two, of precut blanks provided with folding lines. The blanks may be transported in a flat position and assembled on site, the piece of furniture being then dismountable so as to transport it again to another place. A first blank is used to obtain the front face (1), the sides (10), the bottom (2) and the front part (6) of the upper face. A second blank is interconnected in the first blank to form the back face and the remaining part (22) of the upper face. Notches insertable into each other provide for the rigidity of the assembly.

Description

The present invention relates to a method for obtaining a cabinet from a flat sheet of rigid material.

The process was developed for the construction of a doll wardrobe from a sheet of cardboard, but it also applies to the construction of a wardrobe for children or adults, using resistance materials. suitable mechanical.

For a number of years, a great development has been observed in the technique of making packages from a sheet, or blank of cardboard or similar material, which undergo in the factory a preparation consisting essentially of cutting and making folding lines, then sent flat to the place of use, where they are folded and possibly glued to obtain the desired packaging. This allows significant savings on the cost of transporting empty packaging, as well as a reduction in the number of such packaging that is damaged before use.

Such processes have also been proposed in the field of furniture. We can cite for example the French patents published under the number 2.424.006 and under the number 2.440.709, relating to removable seats. However, the problems relating to seats do not allow the mounting systems to be transposed from one type of furniture to another.

There is therefore a need for a method of obtaining a cabinet from a sheet of rigid material, and which allows the transport flat of the construction elements, the easy assembly of the cabinet, its easy disassembly for the purpose of '' a new flat transport followed by a new reassembly.

The object of the invention is to provide such a method, which also makes it possible to obtain a cabinet from a single sheet of material, cut into a small number of unitary assemblies, two for example.

It should be noted here that the word "wardrobe" also includes, in the present text, all the furniture such as "sideboards, sideboards, etc. which have a bottom, a top and four vertical walls, and which are open on at least one of their vertical walls.

  • c) procéder au montage du premier flan en pliant dans le même sens les rabats latéraux à chaque fois de 90° autour de chaun de leurs lignes de pliage, puis en pliant de même les rabats inférieur et supérieur, les premières encoches venant s'insérer dans les troisièmes encoches et les secondes encoches dans les quatrièmes encoches;
The present invention therefore provides a method which comprises the following steps:

    • - two third lateral flaps each connected to a second lateral flap by a seventh fold line parallel to the sixth;
    • first two notches provided on the extreme edge of the second lower flap, these two notches being at a distance from the axis of the central part which is equal to that which separates the fifth fold line from the same axis, less the distance which separates the sixth and seventh fold lines;
    • - two second notches provided on the extreme edge of the second upper flap, and located at the same distance from the axis as the first notches;
    • - two third notches provided on the lower side of the third lateral flap, at a distance from the seventh fold line equal to the distance between the fifth and sixth fold line minus the distance between the first and second fold lines;
    • - Two fourth notches provided on the upper side of the third lateral flap at a distance from the seventh fold line equal to the distance between the fifth and sixth fold lines reduced by the distance between the third and fourth fold lines;
    • - An opening which can be provided with a door and situated in the central part of the central part;
  • b) prepare a second blank comprising:
    • - a second rectangular central part, the half-width of which is at least equal to the half-width of the central part of the first blank reduced by the distance between two adjacent fifth and sixth fold lines and of height at least equal to the height the central part of the first blank reduced by the distance between the second fold line and the extreme edge of the second lower flap;
    • - a first upper flap of the second blank connected to the second central part for an eighth fold line;

  • d) mount the second blank by folding the upper flaps of the second blank in the same way, the fifth notches also being inserted in the fourth notches which are provided with a width double the other notches.

The invention will be explained in more detail with the aid of a practical embodiment illustrated by the drawings, among which:
  • Fig. 1 is a half plan view of the first blank before folding.
  • Fig. 2 is a half plan view of the second blank before folding.
  • Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the assembled piece of furniture, showing its lower face and its front face.
  • Fig. 4 is a view similar to FIG. 3, showing the rear face of the cabinet.

Indeed, this one being symmetrical in the whole compared to an axis, it is not necessary to represent it in whole. The parts corresponding to the top of the cabinet in the position of use, and which are called, for example "upper flaps" are at the top in FIG. 1.

Le premier flan comprend:

  • - une première partie centrale 1 de forme générale rectangulaire;
  • - un premier rabat inférieur 2 relié à la partie centrale le long d'un des bords de ladite partie centrale par une première ligne de pliage 3;
  • - un second rabat inférieur 4 relié à un premier rabat inférieur par une seconde ligne de pliage 5 parallèle à la première;
  • - un premier rabat supérieur 6 relié à la partie centrale par une troisième ligne de pliage 7 sur le bord opposé de ladite partie centrale;
  • - un second rabat supérieur 8 relié au premier rabat par une quatrième ligne 9 de pliage parallèle à la troisième;
  • - deux premiers rabats latéraux 10 reliés chacun à l'un des côtés libres du panneau central par une cinquième ligne de pliage 11;
  • - deux seconds rabats latéraux 12 reliés chacun à un premier rabat latéral par une sixième ligne de pliage 13 parallèle à la cinquième;
  • - deux troisièmes rabats latéraux 14 reliés chacun à un second rabat latéral par une septième ligne de pliage 15 parallèle à la sixième;
  • - deux premières encoches 16 prévues sur le bord extrême du second rabat inférieur 4, ces deux encoches étant à une distance /1 l'axe de la partie centrale qui est égal à celle /2 qui sépare la cinquième ligne de pliage 11 du même axe, diminuée de la distance /3 qui sépare les sixième 13 et septième 15 lignes de pliage;
  • - deux secondes encoches 17 prévues sur le bord extrême du second rabat supérieur 8, et situées à la même distance /1 de l'axe que les premières encoches;
  • - deux troisièmes encoches 18 prévues sur le côté inférieur du troisième rabat latéral, à une distance de la septième ligne de pliage 15 égale à la distance /4 entre les cinquième 11 et sixième 13 lignes de pliage diminuées de la distance /5 entre les première 3 et deuxième lignes de pliage;
  • - deux quatrièmes encoches 19 prévues sur le côté supérieur du troisième rabat latéral à une distance /6 de la septième ligne de pliage égale à la distance /4 entre les cinquième et sixtème lignes de pliage diminuées de la distance /7 entre la troisième et quatrième lignes de pliage;
The first blank includes:
  • - A first central part 1 of generally rectangular shape;
  • - a first lower flap 2 connected to the central part along one of the edges of said central part by a first fold line 3;
  • - a second lower flap 4 connected to a first lower flap by a second fold line 5 parallel to the first;
  • - a first upper flap 6 connected to the central part by a third fold line 7 on the opposite edge of said central part;
  • - a second upper flap 8 connected to the first flap by a fourth fold line 9 parallel to the third;
  • - Two first side flaps 10 each connected to one of the free sides of the central panel by a fifth fold line 11;
  • - Two second lateral flaps 12 each connected to a first lateral flap by a sixth fold line 13 parallel to the fifth;
  • - Two third lateral flaps 14 each connected to a second lateral flap by a seventh fold line 15 parallel to the sixth;
  • - First two notches 16 provided on the extreme edge of the second lower flap 4, these two notches being at a distance / 1 the axis of the central part which is equal to that / 2 which separates the fifth fold line 11 from the same axis , minus the distance / 3 between the sixth 13 and seventh 15 fold lines;
  • - Two second notches 17 provided on the extreme edge of the second upper flap 8, and located at the same distance / 1 from the axis as the first notches;
  • - two third notches 18 provided on the lower side of the third lateral flap, at a distance from the seventh fold line 15 equal to the distance / 4 between the fifth 11 and sixth 13 fold lines reduced by the distance / 5 between the first 3 and second fold lines;
  • - two fourth notches 19 provided on the upper side of the third lateral flap at a distance / 6 from the seventh fold line equal to the distance / 4 between the fifth and sixth fold lines reduced by the distance / 7 between the third and fourth fold lines;
  • - An opening 20 which can be provided with a door and located in the central part of the central part (1).

As can be seen in FIG. 1, the distances / 4 and / 5 are equal, so that the notch 18 is adjacent to the seventh fold line 15.

The opening 20 is the only non-symmetrical element of the first blank, in the example described. Indeed the central part (1) of the blank is cut along a line which follows the lower and upper sides of a rectangle, and only one of the lateral sides, a fold line intended to operate in the opposite direction to the other fold lines mentioned above, constitutes the other lateral side of the rectangle. It is understood that this cutout delimits a door which can pivot around the fold line.

Le bord inférieur du sixième rabat 12 est oblique, de telle façon que le bord inférieur du septième rabat 14 est un prolongement de la première ligne de pliage 3.It will be noted in the figure that the central part 1 comprises, at its lower angles, a triangular extension 31 limited by the fifth fold line 11 and by an oblique incision 32 which connects the end of the first fold line 3 to the edge of the blank. The lower edge of the fifth flap 10 is parallel to the fold line 3 but is shifted down relative to it by a length corresponding to that of the triangle 31. The lower edge of the sixth flap 12 is oblique, so that the lower edge of the seventh flap 14 is an extension of the first fold line 3.

On the other hand the central part 1 has, at its upper corners a triangular extension 33 limited by the third fold line 7 and by an oblique incision 34 which connects the end of the fifth fold line 11 to the edge of the blank. The lateral edge of the third flap 6 is parallel to the fifth fold line 11 but is further apart from the axis by a length corresponding to that of the triangle 33. The lateral edge of the fourth flap 8 has a first oblique part 35 which is contiguous to the fourth fold line 9, and which makes an angle with this fold line equal to that made by the incision 34 with the third fold line 7, but in the opposite direction.

In connection with the presence of the triangle 33, a first additional notch 36 is provided on the upper edge of the fifth flap 10 and a second additional notch 37 is provided on the upper edge of the fourth flap 8. The distance / 8 of the first additional notch 36 to the fifth fold line 11 is equal to the distance / 7 between the third and fourth fold lines. Like the notch 19, the notch 36 is of sufficient width to receive two thicknesses of the cardboard from which the blanks are made.

Two other additional notches 38, 39 are provided on the upper edge of the blank, they are adjacent to the sixth and seventh fold lines 13 and 15.

In the lower part of the sixth and seventh flaps 12 and 14 is provided a horizontal notch 40, which does not open to the outside. This cut starts from the sixth fold line 13, crosses the seventh fold line 15 and stops in the seventh flap before reaching its outer edge.

In the fourth flap 8, an opening 41, elongated in the horizontal direction is also provided.

On va maintenant décrire le second flan.We will now describe the second blank.

Celui-ci comprend:

  • - une seconde partie centrale 21 rectangulaire, dont la demi, large /9 est au moins égale à la demi largeur /2 de la partie centrale 1 du premier flan diminuée de la distance 13 entre deux cinquièmes et sixièmes lignes de pliage adjacentes et de hauteur au moins égale à la hauteur de la partie centrale du premier flan diminué de la distance /10 entre la seconde ligne de pliage et le bord extrême du second rabat inférieur;
This includes:
  • - a second rectangular central part 21, the half-wide / 9 of which is at least equal to the half-width / 2 of the central part 1 of the first blank reduced by the distance 13 between two fifths and sixth adjacent fold lines and height at least equal to the height of the central part of the first blank minus the distance / 10 between the second fold line and the extreme edge of the second lower flap;
  • a first upper flap of the second blank 22 connected to the second central part by an eighth fold line 23.
  • a second upper flap of the second blank 24 connected to the first upper flap of the second blank per a ninth line 25 the sum of the distances / 7, / 11, between the third and fourth fold lines and between the eighth and ninth fold lines being at most equal to the distance 14 between the fifth and sixth fold lines,
  • - two fifth notches 26 provided on the extreme edge of the first upper flap of the second blank, arranged symmetrically with respect to the axis of the second central part and spaced from the latter by a distance / 1 equal to that which separates the seconds notches 17 of the axis.

It will be observed in the figure that the width 19 is in fact exactly equal to the difference (/ 2- / 3).

The second blank further comprises a lower flap 51, connected to the central part 21 by a tenth fold line 52. The height of the central part 21, that is to say the distance / 12 between the eighth 23 and tenth 52 fold lines is equal to the distance between the upper edge of the seventh and eighth flaps 12, 14 and the notch 40.

The shape of the second upper flap of the second blank 24 is identical to that of the fourth flap 8, these two flaps are superimposable. The flap 24 therefore has an additional notch 53 which corresponds to the additional notch 37, an oblique edge 54 which corresponds to the oblique edge 35, and an opening 55 which corresponds to the opening 41.

Ces encoches s'arrêtent avant d'atteindre la ligne de pliage 23.The central part 21 of the second blank has an extension 56 in the shape of a trapezoid, limited by the eighth fold line 23 and by a broken line which comprises an oblique part 57 which starts from the end of the. fold line 23 and makes with it the same angle as the incision line 34 with the third fold line 7, and a portion 58 parallel to the fold line 23. In this line are provided two notches 59, 60 , the first of which is placed along the lateral edge of the central part 21, and the second of which is spaced from the first by a distance / 3 equal to that which separates the sixth and seventh fold lines 13 and 15. These notches s 'stop before reaching fold line 23.

The lower flap of the second blank 51 is wider than the central part 21. Its half-width is equal to the half-width / 2 of the central part 1 of the first blank, and it has, on its lower edge, a notch 61 which is spaced from the lateral edge of said flap by a distance / 3 equal to that which separates the sixth and seventh fold lines.

The position of this line 62 is not critical, except provided that it is more spaced from the eighth fold line 23 than the bottom of the notches 59, 60, and preferably than their mouth, and spaced from the tenth fold line 52 by a distance greater than that of the lower flap 51 However, it is preferable, for better sealing of the rear face of the cabinet, to provide this line 62 towards the middle of the height of the central part 21.

We will now describe the assembly of the cabinet:
  • The first blank is first assembled by folding the side flaps in the same direction each time by 90 ° around each of their fold lines, then folding the lower and upper flaps in the same way, the first notches 16 coming from fit into the third notches 18 and the second notches 17 in the fourth notches 19.

In addition, the second additional notches 37 are inserted into the first additional notches 36, which has the effect of maintaining the seventh flap 14 in a position parallel to the fifth flap 10. The front face, the sides and the bottom of the 'cupboard are thus made, as well as part of the upper face.

Next, the second blank is assembled by folding the upper flaps 22, 24 of the second blank in the same way, the fifth notches 26 also being inserted in the fourth notches 19 which are provided with a width twice the size of the other notches.

In addition, the additional notches 53 come, like the additional notches 36, to be inserted into the corresponding additional notches 36.

The lower flap 51 is folded horizontally, and the notch 61 is inserted into the notch 40 and constitutes a shelf board, the insertion of the flap 51 is made possible by the flexibility that existence provides. of fold line 61.

The two notches 59 and 60 are inserted respectively in the notches 39 and 38.

The flaps 8 and 24 come in superposition, and the openings 41 and 55 being in coincidence constitute a single opening in which it is possible to hang, for example, coat racks.

Figures 3 and 4 show the general appearance of mounted furniture. It can be seen that the feet are formed by the lower edges of the flaps 10 and by the triangles 31, located at the bottom of the central part 1. The edges of the flaps 10 can be indented if desired.

It is also noted that the rear part of the cabinet is constituted by the assembly of the flap 4 of the two flaps 12 and of the central part 21 of the second blank.

The upper face of the cabinet is constituted by the flaps 6 and 22, juxtaposed, it is wider than the body of the cabinet, the connection being made by the oblique lines 32, 35, 57 and 54 providing an advantageous aesthetic effect. .

Cet intervalle peut ne pas affecter toute la largeur du rabat 4.To facilitate disassembly, a small interval is provided between the extreme edge of the flap 4 and the fold line 52 allowing the hand to be inserted in order to remove the flap 51. This interval may not affect the entire width of the flap 4.

The cabinet that has just been described can be made of corrugated cardboard cut out by laser if it is a child's toy. In the case of an adult wardrobe, it will obviously be made of an appropriate material: plastic material in sheets, plywood or sheet metal provided with joints or hinges at the place of the fold lines.
