Abstract

The invention relates to a hand-held firearm comprising a muzzle silencer (9) and a barrel (11) which is provided with transverse bores and is surrounded by an expansion area (15) into which the transverse bores extend. The transverse bores (14) enable the muzzle velocity of the bullets to be less than Mach 1, in spite of the use of conventional ammunition, and there is consequently no supersonic boom of the bullet. To selectively eliminate the reduction in firing energy involved therein and be able to shoot with maximum firing force, the transverse bores (14) are selectively closable by a locking device (16) which is preferably in the form of a sleeve (16) which surrounds the barrel (11) and is mounted for rotation thereon and is furthermore provided with an actuating member (21) for setting the open or closed position. The actuating member may take the form of a tube section (21) surrounding the barrel (11) in spaced relationship thereto at least over part of its length and delimiting the expansion area (15), with its both ends connected with the barrel in sealed relationship and mounted on the barrel (11) for rotation. The tube section is connected with the sleeve (16) for rotation therewith (FIG. 2).

Description

The invention relates to a handgun with a muffler and a cross-drilled barrel, with a locking device for optionally closing the path from the cross hole to the outside, the locking device being a sleeve surrounding the barrel and rotatably mounted on it, with an actuator for adjusting the The open position or the closed position is provided, the sleeve having a channel which can be brought into congruence with the transverse bore.

In such a weapon known from DE-A-2 542 758, a sleeve is provided which, as a result of its channels incorporated in the longitudinal direction on the inside, allows it to be fired either at full energy or with reduced energy because part of the combustion gases overtake the projectile can. In the known weapon, the sleeve cannot be removed from the weapon without removing the barrel, as may be necessary for repair, for example.

Bei abgenommener Hülse sind die den Lauf durchsetzenden Bohrungen offen.US-A-2 451 514 discloses a muzzle brake for rifles which reduces the shot bang and can be switched on or off as desired. For this purpose, the barrel has bores, and a sleeve which has cutouts and can be removed from the barrel is rotatably mounted on the barrel. Depending on the rotational position of the sleeve, combustion gases may or may not escape from the barrel through the recesses in the sleeve. When the sleeve is removed, the holes passing through the barrel are open.

The invention has for its object to design a handgun of the type described in such a way that an expansion space with a larger volume than the volume of the channels in the sleeve of the known weapon can be provided, and in which the muffler and the part of the expansion space delimiting the outside Muffler can be easily removed without having to remove the barrel. Since the weapon is still ready to fire in this case when the silencer is removed, a hazard to the shooter from combustion gases escaping from the side of the barrel should be avoided.

This object is achieved in that an expansion space is provided which is delimited by a pipe section which surrounds the barrel at least over part of its length and serves as an actuating element for the sleeve, the two ends of which are connected to the barrel in a sealed manner such that the pipe section is rotatably mounted on the barrel and is connected in a torsionally rigid manner to the sleeve via a form-fitting coupling, which can be disengaged by axial displacement, that the pipe section can be plugged together with the muffler connecting before the barrel muzzle, and that the pipe section and the muffler with a common connecting piece are provided, which can be connected in the manner of a bayonet lock to the barrel in the area of the barrel muzzle, and that the arrangement is such that when the tube section is turned into the position in which the muffler can be axially removed from the barrel together with the tube section n, the cross hole is covered by the sleeve and is not connected to the channel. A bayonet lock creates a connection by a combination of a sliding and a rotating movement. Bayonet connectors are components known in the art as bayonet catches.

Advantages of the invention lie in the simple construction, since there is not necessarily a connection from the expansion space to the muffler. The expansion space also has a sufficient volume and does not interfere with the weapon. The weapon with which the silencing device can be switched on or off can thus either work with full projectile energy or with reduced projectile energy. If the muzzle silencer is removed from the weapon together with the pipe section without disassembling the barrel, which is simply possible because of the bayonet lock, the weapon is still ready to fire, but a danger to the shooter is avoided because the muzzle silencer and the pipe section are only removed is possible in the rotational position of the sleeve in which the sleeve closes the transverse bore of the barrel, so that no combustion gases can escape laterally from the barrel. The coupling consists of an outer ring gear of the sleeve and a matching inner ring gear of the pipe section. Such a coupling reliably transmits the occurring forces and is easy to dismantle and put back together. The fact that the pipe section together with the muffler connected in front of the barrel muzzle can be removed, i.e. the pipe section with the muffler is assembled into one unit, has technical handling advantages because the muffler, the pipe section and the sleeve are mostly used together anyway. It is advantageous that, on the one hand, because of the sufficient diameter of the pipe section, a sufficient adjusting force can be applied to the sleeve and, on the other hand, that no protruding levers or fittings, possibly giving rise to faults or disabilities, are required for the actuation of the sleeve.

The weapon according to the invention is suitable for special missions, for example in command companies, in which in some cases soundproofing and firing with reduced projectile energy is required, but in other cases the full projectile energy of the ammunition is to be available.

In one embodiment of the invention, in which the sleeve is provided on its inner surface with incorporated longitudinal channels, the egg nes end extends into the area of the transverse bores machined into the barrel, it is provided that the longitudinal channels open at the other end of the sleeve into the sleeve wall penetrating transverse bores. The cross bores, together with the longitudinal channels, form a connection system that leads from the barrel through its cross bores to the expansion space.

In the drawing, an embodiment of the invention is shown in a simplified and schematic representation, which is subsequently explained. In a simplified and schematic representation, omitting details that are not necessary for understanding the invention:
  • 1 is a weapon with attached muffler,
  • 2 shows a partial longitudinal section through the barrel and the adjacent parts of the weapon according to FIG.

Die Waffe gemäss der Darstellung von Fig. 1 ist bekannt (MP 5 SD 3 der Firma Heckler & Koch GmbH).The submachine gun shown in FIG. 1 comprises a housing 1 with a handguard 10 covering the barrel, a sight 2 and a loading device 3. The weapon also comprises a pistol grip 4 with a trigger box 5 and a trigger 6, as well as a shoulder rest 7, a rod magazine 8 and a muzzle muffler 9 which is attached to the barrel muzzle. The weapon according to the illustration in FIG. 1 is known (MP 5 SD 3 from Heckler & Koch GmbH).

According to FIG. 2, a barrel 11, which has a cartridge chamber 12 at its rear end, is closed by a breech 13, which is only indicated in the drawing. Cross bores 14 penetrating the barrel wall are machined into the barrel at a short distance in front of the cartridge chamber 12. Through these cross bores 14, propellant gas penetrates into an expansion space 15 after the shot, whereby the energy imparted to the projectile is reduced so much, even when using conventional ammunition, that the muzzle velocity of the projectile is below the speed of sound, thereby avoiding the bullet bang (supersonic bang) .

In order to be able to interrupt this connection at will, as a result of which a shot can be fired with full projectile energy, a sleeve 16 is rotatably supported to a limited extent on the barrel 11, being axially fixed by a cross pin 17 which engages in an outer circumferential annular groove 18. In the sleeve 16, three longitudinal channels 19 are incorporated evenly distributed around the circumference into the inner surface, each of which merges into a transverse bore 20 at its end facing the barrel mouth, which penetrates the sleeve wall and which opens into the expansion space 15. With the corresponding angular position of the sleeve 16 relative to the barrel 11, the channels 19 each cover one of the transverse bores 14 with their end adjacent to the closure 13 the longitudinal channels 19 are offset tangentially to the transverse bores 14 and thereby closed. In order to achieve a seal between the sleeve and the barrel, the opposing surfaces can be designed in the manner of a labyrinth seal.

The expansion space 15 is bounded on the outside by a tube section 21, which can be slid onto the sleeve 16 in its area adjacent to the closure 13, a sealing ring 22 being inserted into an annular groove. The pipe section 21 is provided with an internal toothing 23 and the sleeve 16 is provided with an external toothing 24 which are in engagement with one another when the pipe section 21 is attached. By rotating the pipe section 21, the sleeve 16 can thus also be rotated. The other end of the tube section 21, which is adjacent to the mouth of the barrel 11, is closed by a ring 25, to which the muffler muffler 9 is also fastened with its end facing the closure 13. The ring 25 can be slid axially onto the mouth region of the barrel 11 and, limited by a pin 26, can be pivoted through a predetermined angle. Within the expansion space 15, a support ring 27 is fastened to the barrel, on which a helical compression spring 28 rests, which is supported on the other hand on the end face of the ring 25 facing it. In the ring 25 and the barrel 11, a bayonet lock 32/33 is incorporated, the pivot angle of which is limited by the pin 26. When the bayonet lock is released, the spring 28 presses the ring 25 and thus the pipe section 21 in the weft direction.

The barrel 11 is provided on its outer surface in the region of the front end of the sleeve 16 with longitudinal grooves 29 which receive the axial webs 30 when the sleeve 16 is pushed on and thus fix the radial position of the sleeve 16 relative to the barrel 11. The - in each case the same - locking position shown in Figures 3, 4 and 5 corresponds to the position for unreduced full projectile energy: the transverse bores 14 are covered by the sleeve 16. If the sleeve 16 is now taken along via the toothing 23/24 by rotating the pipe section 21, then the clockwise rotation in FIGS. 4 and 5 causes the transverse bores 14 to be covered by the channels 19, which corresponds to the position for reduced projectile energy. 4 and 5, the transverse bores 14 remain covered by the sleeve 16 - on the ring 25 and barrel 11, the restraining elements return to the starting position and the muffler 9 together with the pipe section 21 can axially from the barrel 11 can be withdrawn, the teeth 23, 24 coming out of engagement.

Since the tube section 21 can assume an increased temperature when firing bursts of fire, the hand protection 10 is usually attached, which covers the tube section 21 and is preferably connected to the tube section 21 in a rotationally rigid manner.

The ring 25 is drilled axially to produce a direct connection from the expansion space 15 to the interior of the muffler 9, the interior of which in turn is vented to the outside in a known manner.

Claims (3)

1. Hand firearm with a muzzle silencer and a transversely bored barrel (11), with a closure device for optional closure of the path outwardly from the transverse bore (14), the closure device being a sleeve (16) encircling the barrel (11) and being mounted to rotate thereon, and being provided with an actuating member for adjusting the open position or closed position, the sleeve (16) having a port (19) adapted to be brought into a position coincident with the transverse bore (14), characterised in that an expansion chamber (15) is provided which is bounded by a tube portion (21) which serves as a sleeve actuating member and which, with a gap, passes around and over at least a part of the length of the barrel (11), the two ends of the tube portion (21) being connected in seal-tight fashion to the barrel and in that the tube portion (21) is rotatably mounted on the barrel (11) and is rotationally rigidly connected to the sleeve (16) via a form-locking coupling (23, 24) which can be disengaged by axial displacement and in that the tube portion (21) can be fitted on together with the muzzle silencer (9) which has to be connected in front of the barrel muzzle, and in that the tube portion and the muzzle silencer are provided with a common connector (25) which is adapted for connection to the barrel (1) in the region of the muzzle by a bayonet type connection, and in that the arrangement is so contrived that when the tube portion (21) is rotated into the position in which the muzzle silencer (9), together with the tube portion (21), can be pulled axially off the barrel (11), the transverse bore (14) is covered by the sleeve (16) and does not communicate with the port (19).
2. Hand firearm according to Claim 1, in which the sleeve (16) is on its inner surface provided with machined longitudinal ports (19), of which one end extends into the region of the transverse bores (14) machined into the barrel (11), characterised in that the longitudinal ports (19), at the other end of the sleeve, discharge into transverse bores (20) which pass through the sleeve wall.
3. Hand firearm according to Claim 1 or 2, characterised in that a hand guard (10) is fitted onto the tube portion (21).
