Definitions

  • the invention relates to an edge planer for machining both mutually opposite edges on the surfaces of a plate, consisting of two knife holders arranged in mirror image to one another, of substantially identical design, which contain at least one cutting tool and which each have two - preferably perpendicular to each other - guide surfaces and their spacing is adjustable from one another via a displaceable spacing device to the thickness of the plate to be processed.
  • Such an edge planer has become known from DE-C-569.595.
  • the two tool halves are connected to one another in such a way that the two spars are provided with a guide plate which is pushed into a slot and clamped in place by means of two wing screws.
  • a fixed distance be set in a relatively complex manner, but two tools with differently set knives are usually required, each of which causes pre-cutting and re-cutting.
  • the knife holders additionally contain re-cutting knives which are arranged at an angle to the guide surfaces, so that in use the edges precut by the cutting tool are chamfered and that at least one spring is arranged between the two knife holders, which is designed either as a compression spring against whose force the distance between the knife holders can be adjusted, or as a tension spring against whose force the knife holders can be pulled apart to the required distance.
  • the pieces to be machined are not so true to size that a fixed setting of the spacing device could be used to find the length. Such tolerances can be compensated for by the spring.
  • At least one, preferably two, tension springs can be provided between the tool holders as a spring, in particular at least one spring being assigned an adjusting device for adjusting its tensile force.
  • the tension spring can then immediately apply at least part of the force required for the guides to bear against the associated surfaces of a plate or the like.
  • the adjustment device is advantageous either to adjust their tensile force to one another when two tension springs are arranged and thus to ensure a uniform cut, or to set the contact pressure to be applied by the spring for the guides on the workpiece depending on the type of the spring can.
  • At least one, preferably two, compression springs are provided between the two tool holders as a spring, because then the contact pressure can be regulated more easily by hand. If each tool holder has a gripping surface, both tool holders can be comfortably gripped with one hand, and the two tool holders are involuntarily pressed together under this handle against spring force.
  • the guides of the edge planer on the surfaces of the plate or the like also result naturally because the hand itself exerts force and counterforce. Nevertheless, it is also conceivable in this embodiment that the clamping is carried out against the force of one or more compression springs with the aid of a tensioning device.
  • springs may be sufficient for the spacing device.
  • the spring can easily be bent, overstretched or otherwise damaged.
  • This disadvantage can be avoided in that the spacing device has at least one guide rod between the two tool holders, which thus prevents relative displacement in the longitudinal direction.
  • the arrangement can be such that the guide rod is hollow and has a helical spring inside, which is then protected. Moreover, such an arrangement is less space-consuming.
  • Another advantageous embodiment consists in that the spring is detachably connected to at least one tool holder and is not, for example, firmly anchored (in the case of a leaf spring, for example, by rivets or the like). This makes it possible for workpieces in which only one edge is to be machined to detach the two tool holders from one another and to use one of them like a conventional edge planer in the usual way.
  • the two tube sleeves 6, 7 are each firmly connected to the tool holders 1, 2, possibly even made in one piece with them, or only inserted into corresponding bores which have a corresponding pressure gauge.
  • the length of the tube sleeves 6, 7 is dimensioned such that both tool holders 1, 2 can be pressed against each other against the pressure of a helical spring 4 until they come into contact with one another.
  • the helical spring 4 can, if desired, also be designed as a tension spring, the two tool holders 1, 2 being pulled apart and placed on the plate 100 to be machined for machining a workpiece.
  • the train can optionally be adjustable by a construction according to FIG. 4.
  • the coil springs 4 are surrounded by the telescopic guide rods 6, 7 and are protected inside. Parts 4 to 7 keep the two tool holders at a distance at an adjustable distance. However, it is easy to imagine that when using tension springs, parts 4 to 7, conversely, set the respective minimum distance. This makes it easy to adapt to standard panel thicknesses - usually 12 to 24 mm. It is also easy to understand that the two tool holders 1, 2 are then easily separated from one another and used for processing individual edges, e.g. B. on the edge of wide areas, can be used if the springs 4 are not anchored with their ends to the body of the tool holder (for example, embedded in plastic).
  • a detachment of the two tool holders 1, 2 from one another is particularly possible, for example, in that the springs 4 are inserted loosely into the sleeves 6, 7 (in the case of compression springs). Another detachable fastening results from the example of tension springs with reference to FIG. 4. If necessary, the sleeves themselves can only be inserted into the associated bores, but they are then expediently designed as a plug connection so that the two tool holders, particularly under the pressure of the Springs 4 are not unintentionally separated when placing them. For this purpose, one-piece sleeves 6 (similar to FIG.
  • the spring tongues can be provided at their ends with spring tongues cut out of their outer surface, each of which at the end has flanges which protrude radially outwards and which extend in longitudinal grooves of the bores receiving the sleeves which do not extend completely to the open end the tool holder 1, 2 are guided.
  • the spring tongues are either pressed down by hand or are provided with oblique lugs which press the spring tongues down when they are inserted.
  • the spring tongues either have to be pressed down by hand or also have a bevel on this side which slides over the wall closing off the longitudinal groove on the outside.
  • Grooves 8 are provided within the recess 3 for receiving the protruding veneer edges to be planed. As can be seen, the grooves 8 each extend from one guide surface 22 flush with the boundary surface of the recess 3 forming the other guide surface 23. As can be seen from FIGS. 2 and 3, the respective groove 8 is approximately in the middle of the edge planer with a Outlet opening 10 connected for the edge protrusions to be separated.
  • a wall 26 of the respective outlet opening 10 extends to the recess 3 at an angle ⁇ of approximately 40 °.
  • a re-cutting knife 12 is fastened to this wall 26 by means of a screw 17, a wedge 19 or the like being preferably provided on it for better fixation.
  • a pre-cutting knife 16 is fastened to each tool holder 1 or 2 by means of a screw 18, the cutting edge of which lies approximately in the plane of the side surface 22 of the recess 3.
  • the bearing surface 24 of the pre-cutting knife 16 is, however, at an angle a slightly, z. B. inclined by about 3 ° to 5 ° to the cutting direction of the edge planer.
  • the pre-cutting knife 16 cuts parallel to or, if necessary, in alignment with the workpiece surface 122 or 222, e.g. B. ironed, edge covering 47 approximately along the dash-dotted line 116.
  • the cutting course of the re-cutting knife 12 is selected according to the line 112, so that the covering edge pre-cut by the pre-cutting knife 16 is chamfered. This cuts a facet on the pre-cut edge, eliminating the need for rework.
  • each knife can be provided with an elongated hole 20.
  • an edge planer can be used, the guide surfaces 22 of which are also inclined or can even be adjusted in a known manner. Instead of the aligned position of the cutting line 116, this can if desired, to be offset inwards or outwards relative to the plane of the workpiece surface 122 or 222 (on which the guide surfaces 22 of the edge planer are guided).
  • the plate 100 is provided with a side veneer 46 which also has to be cut after the gluing.
  • edge protrusions 146 indicated by dashed lines are to be separated, for which purpose the edge planer according to the invention can optionally be equipped or optionally equipped in a manner not shown, each with a knife lying approximately in the plane of the guide surface 23.
  • a screw sleeve 31 with a fit is inserted into a bore 30 of the tool holder 1, into which a hollow screw 32 is screwed.
  • the screw 32 can be screwed more or less deeply into the sleeve 31 with the aid of a knurled wheel 33 and carries in its interior the helical spring 4 which is designed as a tension spring and which has its end 4 ′ on an outer surface of the knurled wheel 33 or on an intermediate surface Washer 34 supporting pin 35 is releasably anchored.
