Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a bar track brake consisting of two bars on both sides of each track of a track, or from only two bars on both sides of a track, running parallel to the same with bars arranged next to each other as brake pads, the one between them for the brake pads, the one between them for the to be braked wheels of a moving railroad car form certain braking groove, the longitudinal sides of the beams facing each or the rail having elongated recesses.
The beam track brakes of this type have the task of braking the railway carriages running in a marshalling yard to a certain speed or of bringing them to a complete stop. During braking, the wagon wheels are pressed laterally by two bars of the track brake, which are raised from their starting positions. The braking process produces shrill, squeaky noises of considerable volume. These noises are caused by vibrations of the wagon wheels due to the friction between the brake pads of the brake beam and the wagon wheels. Such noises are a nuisance to the environment.
Various means have been used to at least reduce the noise generated when braking. For example, the contact surfaces between the brake pads and the vehicle wheels were sprayed with liquid or semi-liquid braking agents made from carrier fluid and granular brake material. Attempts have also been made to cover the friction surfaces with aqueous pastes, oil / water emulsions or liquid foam prove which means brought relatively small results and were also expensive because they were used in large quantities.
According to German patent specification No. 2 254 005, the vibrations of the wagon wheels during the braking process are absorbed by a rail made of rubber-elastic material which is arranged next to the running rail and engages the wagon wheels during their passage. The squeaking noises that occur when braking are thus suppressed.
Although the wagon wheels only slightly touch the rubber-elastic rail, it is destroyed over time, especially by locomotives or entire trains. In addition, the procurement and installation of such additional rubber-elastic rails is expensive.
For railway cars to be braked, the running speed of which is greater than 2 to 3 m / s, according to AT-PS 337 246 brake bars are proposed which are equipped with brake pins that are pinned on the side and screwed on. The segments are attached to one another at a mutual distance from one another on the inner longitudinal sides of the brake beams by means of horizontal screw bolts and dowel pins, which also absorb the contact and braking forces. With such segments, the noise development can be largely suppressed because, due to the friction between the brake beams and the wheel bandage of the car to be braked during braking, only the segments attached to the contact surfaces of the brake beam are excited to vibrate naturally.
The disadvantage of such brake bars provided with laterally attached segments is that the squeaking noise occurs again at intensities that are below 2 to 3 m / s at a similar intensity to that of unsegmented brake bars. The assembly and disassembly of the segments from the side is space lack complicates.
It is the object of the invention to provide a bar track brake with which the desired noise reduction when braking railway wagons running is achieved even in the low speed range. The bar track brake should be designed so that the brake pads can be replaced quickly and effortlessly.
According to the invention, these objects are achieved in the beam track brake mentioned at the outset in such a way that the floor area of each cutout, which lies in the horizontal plane, is wider than the cutout height and that the cutouts are separated from one another by webs running transversely to the longitudinal axes of the beams, in which Recesses the segments are installed in a fixed position.
The segments are advantageously held in the recesses by vertically running bolts, the side surfaces of the segments being supported against the webs and the longitudinal surfaces of the segments forming the actual braking surfaces being exposed and projecting beyond the inner longitudinal edges of the beams.
- Fig. 1 is a schematic view of an outer bar section with segments of a bar track brake and
- Fig. 2 shows a cross section through the one pair of bars of the track brake according to FIG. 1 with a carriage wheel indicated in dash-dotted line.
From FIG. 2 it can be seen that a
As can also be seen from FIG. 1, the inner longitudinal side of each
The
The
The segments can be worn by about 10 mm on each of the long sides, and the respective level of wear can be determined immediately by visual inspection. A final measurement with a measuring instrument is unnecessary. Thanks to the fastening of the
The arrangement of the segments on the brake beams described above brings a very significant reduction in both the frequency and the average intensity of the squeaking noises when braking the running railroad cars. The reduction is 10 to 15 dB (A). The squeaking noises occur up to 30 times less frequently than with the brake beams according to AT-PS 337 246.
