Description
PflasterkunststeinPaving stone
TECHNISCHES GEBIET 05TECHNICAL AREA 05
.?rlage gesetzt. The present invention relates to an artificial stone for a pavement. Pavements serve, for example, as a surface for streets and/or sidewalks or other paved or walkable surfaces. As a rule, such stone or pilasters are set by hand in a layer of gravel, chippings or mortar on a layer of gravel or crushed stone.
New paving areas are often created as part of state or village center renovations. Surface paving is also increasingly being used to create traffic-calmed zones and in pedestrian areas. For such paving, small paving is often preferred in the area of edgings, decorative strips, areas and gutter areas, i.e. paving consisting of paving stones with relatively small dimensions, which allows a wide variety of variations to be achieved when using such small paving stones in terms of the surface structure and pattern of the paving. Such paving should have a certain minimum compressive strength and a certain abrasion resistance so that the quality of the paving can be maintained over a longer period of time.
On the one hand, such paving must have a relatively flat surface overall and, on the other hand, a certain degree of slip resistance must be ensured by the surface of the paving. This is achieved on the one hand by laying the individual stones of the paving precisely and, on the other hand, by selecting a sufficiently rough surface of the

Steine. Stones. In addition to the high demands on safety and durability, there are increasingly high demands on the visual appearance of the paving.
The economic use of the" x^ger paving stones as a mass product requires not only efficient laying but also cost-effective production of the stones themselves.
STAND DER TECHNIK 10STATE OF THE ART 10
Gleichzeitig können die geforderten Materialwerte gewährleistet werden.^ It is known to use so-called concrete blocks as paving stones. These stones are often standardized in their dimensions. The use of prefabricated formwork elements enables efficient and cost-effective production of such stones in the concrete block factory. At the same time, the required material values can be guaranteed.
In addition to these concrete blocks, natural stones are often used, for example those made from basalt lava, diorite, gabbro, granite or greywacke. Such natural stones are often used as so-called small paving stones, particularly for edgings, decoration strips or gutters. The individual small natural paving stones are broken out of * large blocks. The resulting broken surfaces of the individual stones create a visually pleasing appearance, which is often desired. At the same time, such natural stones are relatively strong. However, the use of such natural stones is very expensive. This is due on the one hand to the fact that natural stone is very expensive as a material and at the same time breaking individual small paving stones requires a relatively high level of effort, since the blocks from which these stones are broken have a wide variety of dimensions, so that automation during production requires a relatively large amount of equipment.

-3-DARSTELLUNG DER ERFINDUNG-3-PRESENTATION OF THE INVENTION
The invention is based on the object of specifying an artificial stone for paving which achieves the strength properties of the known stones, which has a visually favorable appearance and with which a simplified and rapid factory production is possible and which can therefore be used cost-effectively overall.
The artificial stone according to the invention is given by the features of / claim 1. Advantageous embodiments and further developments are the subject of the subclaims.
This invention is therefore characterized by the fact that the stone has a broken surface structure, at least in some areas, created by artificial splitting. Compared to natural stones with a broken surface, the artificial stone according to the invention can be produced much more cost-effectively. This is because this stone can be produced in a simple manner by artificially splitting prefabricated concrete blocks. Because an easy-to-produce concrete block with predeterminable dimensions can be used as the starting product, a high degree of automation is possible in the production of such artificial stones with broken surface structures. In addition to high compressive strength and abrasion resistance, the artificial stone according to the invention has a visually similarly advantageous external appearance to that of a broken natural stone. The production costs of a stone according to the invention are, however, significantly lower than those of a natural stone.

Hierbei kann insbesondere als (nicht gebrochener) Ausgangsbetonstein einPreferably, the stone has a cubic or cuboid shape. This geometrically simple spatial shape of the individual stone makes it possible to keep the equipment required for splitting the stone relatively small. In this case, a (non-broken) starting concrete stone can be used.

It has proven to be advantageous to choose the dimensions for the length, width and height of an artificial stone in the range between 4 and 16 cm. In this range, especially with regard to the relatively large dimensions, it is still possible to split the stone in a controlled manner so that the roughness of the surface structure of the broken stone still meets the requirements with regard to walkability.
An abrasion-resistant stone with relatively high compressive strength is achieved when cement is used as a binding agent and sand and/or similar granular material as aggregates.
The decorative character of such artificial stone or of a pavement made with such artificial stones can be improved by adding color pigments to the artificial stones. This also makes it possible to achieve a visually appealing surface for a pavement. In particular, it is possible for the pavement itself to serve as an information carrier for people walking or driving on the pavement by using artificial stones of different colors.
Deratig künstlich gealterte Steine werden bevorzugt im Bereich der Altstadtsanierung eingesetzt, da ein derartiges Pflaster in Kombination mit den angrenzenden Altbauten einen architektonisch gewünschten optisch günstigen GesamteindruckIn a preferred further embodiment of the artificial stone according to the invention, its broken surface has been subjected to an artificial aging process by Rumpein. Stones artificially aged in this way are preferably used in the area of old town renovation, since such a paving in combination with the adjacent old buildings creates an architecturally desired optically favorable overall impression.

-6-WEGE ZUM AUSFÜHREN DER ERFINDUNG-6-WAYS TO CARRY OUT THE INVENTION
The artificial stone 10 shown in Fig. 1 has a broken surface structure on its outer surfaces 12, which was created by artificial splitting. After the splitting process, the artificial stone 10 shown was subjected to artificial aging. This artificial aging was carried out by rumbling, i.e. several stones are placed together in a rotating drum, which then rotates at a predetermined speed for a predetermined period of time. During the rotating process, the individual stones hit each other or the wall of the rotating drum, which in turn breaks the edges 14 of the individual stones, so that overall a stone with relatively round broken edges is created.
The starting point for the manufacture of a stone is a cuboid concrete block 20, the length and width of which are significantly larger than its thickness. This concrete block ^.&ugr; is then split in a controlled manner along orthogonal splitting lines 22, 24. After the splitting process, artificial stones, particularly suitable for small paving, are available with a broken surface. The stones 26 in the interior of the concrete block 20 thus result in artificial stones which have a total of four sides with a broken surface structure. The curbstones 28 and the corner stones 30 each have three or two side surfaces with a broken surface structure. In principle, the stones which have at least one side surface with a broken surface structure are suitable for use as paving stones, since this side forms the surface of the paving and the other side surfaces are not visible when the paving is finished.
