Description
- Technisches Gebiet der Erfindung
- Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft im allgemeinen das Verschweißen oder Verbinden nicht-metallischer Fluorpolymerteile miteinander. Insbesondere betrifft die Erfindung eine Haltevorrichtung nach Anspruch 1.
- Hintergrund der Erfindung
- Eine bekannte Technik zum Verschweißen oder Verbinden von Kunststoffteilen oder Werkstücken miteinander ist die Strahlungserhitzung, welche manchmal als Infrarot- oder IR-Schweißung bezeichnet wird. In einem bekannten Prozess werden die Werkstücke erhitzt und dann zusammengepresst und deren Abkühlung zugelassen. Eine Erhitzungsvorrichtung wird zum Bereitstellen einer Strahlungswärmungsquelle verwendet, welche nahe an diejenigen Abschnitte der Werkstücke gehalten wird, die miteinander zu verbinden sind.
- Es gibt zahlreiche Nachteile in dem bekannten IR-Schweißsystemen. Unter diesen befinden sich die schlechte Wiederholbarkeit, die Unbeständigkeit der Schweißung und lange Schweißzykluszeiten. Diese können einer Reihe von Faktoren zugeordnet werden, wovon sich viele auf den Umstand beziehen, dass der Schweißer visuell ermitteln muss, wann jedes Werkstück ausreichend erhitzt ist. Bei TeflonTM-Materialien, wie z. B. PFA, achtet der Schweißer beispielsweise auf die Undurchsichtigkeit des Werkstückes. Dieses ist eine sehr subjektive Ermittlung und führt zu unbeständigen Schweißungen.
- Bekannte Systeme sind nur für die Verschweißung von zwei Werkstücken desselben Materials und nur für Materialien, wie z.B. PFA, die schmelzverarbeitbar sind, brauchbar. "Schmelzverarbeitbar" bezieht sich auf Materialien, die geschmolzen und beispielsweise durch Einspritzformung oder andere Verarbeitungstechniken, in welchen das geschmolzene Material liegt, weiterverarbeitet werden können. Materialien, die nicht schmelzverarbeitbar sind, wurden bisher unter Verwendung bekannter IR-Systeme nicht für IR-verschweißbar gehalten. Eine weitere signifikante Einschränkung bekannter Systeme besteht darin, dass eine sehr geringe Kontrolle darüber vorliegt, wie viel von dem Werkstück erhitzt wird. Für einen typischen Schweißvorgang bedarf üblicherweise nur ein kleiner Teil des Werkstückes einer Erhitzung. Bekannte Systeme erhitzen jedoch andere Abschnitte des Werkstückes als die tatsächliche Schweißstelle. Außerdem verwenden bekannte Schweißsysteme typischerweise Haltevorrichtungen, um die Werkstücke während der Schweiß- und Abkühlzeitperioden festzuhalten. Diese Haltevorrichtungen schränken typischerweise eine axiale Bewegung der Werkstücke während der Abkühlung ein, und erzeugen somit Restspannungen in der Schweißstelle.
- WO900970 offenbart das Verbinden von thermoplastischen Teilen durch das Einwirken von Wärme an ausgewählten Oberflächenbereichen davon und durch Zusammendrücken der Teile.
US 5,62,8859 offenbart ein Verfahren zum Schweißen mittels elektromagnetischer Strahlung, um das Verbinden aus Kunststoffen bestehender Komponenten miteinander zu ermöglichen.JP 8108479 - Es besteht weiter Bedarf nach einem Strahlungsschweißverfahren und einer Vorrichtung zum Verschweißen von Kunststoffteilen miteinander, um wiederholbare Schweißungen hoher Qualität zu erzeugen. Ein derartiges Verfahren und eine Vorrichtung sind insbesondere jedoch nicht ausschließlich zum Verschweißen von zwei Werkstücken unterschiedlicher Materialien miteinander geeignet, welche unterschiedliche Schmelz- und Zerlegungstemperaturen besitzen.
- Zusammenfassung der Erfindung
- Gemäß der vorliegenden Erfindung wird eine Haltevorrichtung für ein Werkstück bereitgestellt, das mit infrarotwärme geschweißt wird, wobei die Haltevorrichtung umfasst: eine Basis; ein Element, das sich von der Basis aus erstreckt und so eingerichtet ist, dass es mit dem Werkstück in Eingriff kommt, wobei das Element das Werkstück radial ausrichtet und das Werkstück axial hält, bevor mit Wärme auf das Werkstück eingewirkt wird; wobei das Werkstück an dem Element axial nicht festgehalten wird, nachdem das Werkstück als Teil eines Schweißvorgangs erhitzt worden ist.
- Gemäß einem Aspekt der Erfindung werden die zu verschweißenden Werkstücke auf Haltvorrichtungen montiert, welche die Ausbildung annehmbarer Schweißungen ermöglichen. Gemäß diesem Aspekt der Erfindung wird wenigstens einem von den Werkstücken ermöglicht, sich axial und frei im Bezug auf das andere Werkstück während einer Zeitperiode nach der Schweißung zu verschieben. Diese freie Bewegung ermöglicht es der Schweißstelle sich ohne Erzeugung von Restspannungen an der Schweißstelle abzukühlen. In einer Ausführungsform der Erfindung wird eine Haltevorrichtung verwendet, welche ein Werkstück während eines Teils des Schweißvorgangs festhält und axial das Werkstück während einer Schweiß- und Abkühlperiode freigibt.
- Diese und weitere Aspekte und Vorteile der vorliegenden Erfindung werden ohne weiteres aus der nachstehenden detaillierten Beschreibung der Erfindung angesichts der beigefügten Zeichnungen ersichtlich und verständlich.

- Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein Haltevorrichtungskonzept gemäß Darstellung durch die
8A –8C und9A –9D - Obwohl die Erfindung hierin unter spezifischer Bezugnahme auf die Verschweißung eines PFA-Teils mit einem modifizierten PTFE-Teil (d.h., eines schmelzverarbeitbaren Materials mit einem nicht-schmelzverarbeitbaren Material) beschrieben wird, sind diese zwei lediglich zwei Beispiele von Fluorpolymeren, welche mittels Vorrichtungen und Verfahren verschweißt werden können, die die vorliegende Erfindung verkörpern. Die vorliegende Erfindung kann auch zum Verschweißen von zwei Teilen desselben Materials miteinander (z.B. einem aus einem schmelzverarbeitbaren Material, wie z.B. PFA, bestehenden Teil mit einem schmelzverarbeitbaren Teil, oder einem aus einem nicht-schmelzverarbeitbaren Material, wie z.B. einem modifizierten PTFE, bestehenden Teil mit einem nicht-schmelzverarbeitbaren Teil) verwendet werden.
- Obwohl die Erfindung hierin mittels exemplarischer Ausführungsformen zum Verschweißen von zwei Werkstücken unterschiedlichen Materialien beschrieben wird, wird der Fachmann auf diesem Gebiet ohne weiteres verstehen, dass verschiedene Aspekte der Erfindung zum Verschweißen von Werkstücken aus demselben Material miteinander verwendet werden können.
- Zusätzlich sollten, obwohl eine Anzahl alternativer Ausführungsformen oder Beispiele hierin dargestellt werden, derartige Beispiele keine erschöpfende Liste sein und sollte nicht als solche betrachtet werden. Viele unterschiedliche elektrische, mechanische und Materialvarianten für die beschriebenen Ausführungsformen werden für den Fachmann auf diesem Gebiet unabhängig davon, ob sie hierin explizit angeführt werden oder nicht, ersichtlich sein, und derartige Varianten können ohne Abweichung von dem Erfindungsgedanken und Schutzumfang der Erfindung ausgeführt werden.
- Eine Bezugnahme hierin auf "Schweißen" sollte in ihrem weitesten Sinne verstanden werden, d.h., als Verbinden oder Vereinen von zwei Werkstücken durch das Einwirken von Wärme. Die Erfindung befasst sich mit Strahlungs- oder die IR-Erhitzungstechniken durch Konvektion von Wärme aus einer strahlenden Oberfläche auf das Werkstück ohne direkten Kontakt des Werkstückes mit der wärmestrahlenden Oberfläche. Dieses stellt eine saubere Schweißung sicher.
- Unter Bezugnahme auf die
8A –8C zieht die Erfindung Haltevorrichtungskonzepte in Betracht, welche die EndSchweißqualität und Festigkeit verbessern, indem im wesentlichen die aufgebrachten Kräfte und Restspannung an der Schweißstelle reduziert werden. Diesbezüglich wird wenigstens eines von den Werkstücken in einer Haltevorrichtung so angebracht, dass, wenn die Schweißstelle abkühlt, das Werkstück sich axial frei im Bezug auf die Haltevorrichtung bewegen kann. Dieses ermöglicht es, dass die Schweißstelle ohne axiale Einschränkung oder Restspannung abkühlen kann. - In der exemplarischen Ausführungsform der
8A –8C ist ein erstes Werkstück W1 in diesem Beispiel ein Gewindeanschlußrohrende mit einem zweiten Werkstück W2, wie zum Beispiel einem Ventil zu verschweißen. Die Zeichnungen sind zur Verdeutlichung vereinfacht und stellen nur die Werkstücke und eine von den Haltevorrichtungen dar. In diesem Beispiel ist das Ventil W2 das bewegliche Werkstück. - Das in den
8A –8D verkörperte Konzept betrifft ein rohrförmiges Werkstück mit einer zentralen Bohrung200 dadurch. Das untere Ende202 (gemäß Betrachtung in den Zeichnungen) des Werkstückes W1 ist das Ende, das mit einem entsprechenden Rohrende204 an dem anderen Werkstück verschweißt wird. Diese Enden202 ,204 definieren die Schweißstelle. Die Haltevorrichtung202 in diesem Falle ist die bewegliche Haltevorrichtung, welche das Verbinden der Werkstücke (wie hierin vorstehend unter Bezugnahme auf die3A –3G beschrieben) ermöglicht. - In diesem Falle ist die zentrale Bohrung
200 kein tatsächlicher Zylinder, sondern besitzt eine leichte axiale Verjüngung, da das Teil ein Spritzgußteil ist. Das Haltevorrichtungskonzept kann jedoch auch auf Werkstücke angewendet werden, die nicht verjüngt oder spritzgegossen sind. Die Haltevorrichtung206 enthält eine Basis208 , die auf einer geeigneten (nicht dargestellten) Unterstützungseinrichtung installiert ist. Die Basis208 ist mittels einer geeigneten Betätigungsvorrichtung beweglich. Aus der Basis208 erstreckt sich eine Haltevorrichtungsträger oder Bolzen210 . Der Bolzen210 ist entsprechend so bemessen, dass er einen leichten Press- oder Reibungssitz mit der Werkstückbohrung210 besitzt, bevor das Werkstück als ein Teil eines Schweißvorgangs erhitzt wird. - In
8A wird das Werkstück W1 auf der Haltevorrichtung210 vor der Erhitzung befestigt und eng anliegend auf den Bolzen210 festgehalten. In8B ist das Werkstück als Teil eines Schweißvorgangs erhitzt worden. Während der Erhitzungszeitperiode "wächst" das Werkstück so, dass es im wesentlichen einen reduzierten Eingriff mit dem Bolzen210 besitzt, jedoch mit ausreichend Resteingriffkraft so, dass das Werkstück nicht von dem Bolzen210 herunterfällt. Der verringerte Reibungseingriff zwischen dem Werkstück und der Haltevorrichtung206 nimmt bis zu dem Punkt ab, dass das Anschlußteil in der Lage ist, entlang dem Bolzen210 während der Abkühlung der erzeugten Schweißstelle zu gleiten. Nachdem die Werkstücke ihre entsprechende Schweißtemperatur erreicht haben, werden die Teile miteinander verbunden und die Haltevor richtung und der Bolzen210 in ihrer Position festgehalten. In8C wird während der Abkühlung (beispielsweise von etwa 400°C auf etwa 270°C) die Haltevorrichtung206 in ihrer Position gehalten, während die Schweißstelle abkühlt. Da der Reibungssitz im wesentlichen beseitigt worden ist, zieht die Schrumpfung, die aufgrund der Schweißabkühlung auftritt an dem Werkstück, welches nun frei ist, um axial entlang dem Bolzen210 zu gleiten. Der Fachmann auf diesem Gebiet wird erkennen, dass die beschriebene Bewegung ziemlich klein aber signifikant ist. Wenn das Werkstück nicht frei entlang dem Bolzen210 gleiten könnte, würden sich Restspannungen in der Schweißstelle ausbilden. Das Werkstück wird von dem Bolzen210 vor einer vollständigen Abkühlung entfernt, da ansonsten das Werkstück in seine ursprünglichen Abmessungen zurückkehren würde und fest auf dem Bolzen210 festgehalten würde. Diese vollständige Abkühlung kann jedoch, falls erforderlich durchgeführt werden. Die leichte axiale Verschiebung des Werkstückes entlang dem Bolzen210 ist als der Spalt212 in8C zur Verdeutlichung übertrieben dargestellt. Das Werkstück W1 ist während der Abkühlung immer noch radial ausgerichtet, wird jedoch axial nicht festgehalten, so dass sich die Schweißstelle mit wenig oder keiner Restspannung abkühlen kann. - Unter Bezugnahme auf die
9A –9D wird eine alternative Ausführungsform des Haltevorrichtungskonzeptes dargestellt. Diese Ausführungsform ist für Teile, wie z.B. ein Endanschlußteil250 eines Standard ISO Rohrs nützlich, welcher im wesentlichen eine zylindrische Innenbohrung252 besitzt. Das ISO Anschlußteil ist das bewegliche Werkstück W1 und ist in diesem Beispiel mit einem Ventilkörper W2 zu verschweißen. - Ein Standard ISO Anschlußteil ist durch einen sich radial nach aussen erstreckenden Flansch
254 gekennzeichnet. Die Haltevorrichtung260 ist so konfiguriert, dass die lose das Anschlußteil250 erfaßt und in einer radialen Ausrichtung mittels eines Bolzens262 festhält, der sich in die zentrale Bohrung252 des Anschlußteils erstreckt. Die Haltevorrichtung260 umfasst eine Hülse264 , die radial das Anschlußteil250 erfasst, und besitzt einen sich nach innen erstreckenden Flansch265 , der axial den Befestigungsflansch254 erfasst.9A stellt den Anfangsaufbau mit dem in der Haltevorrichtungsvorrichtung260 eingesetzten Anschlußteil250 dar. Ein leichter Preßsitz mit dem Bolzen262 kann, falls es erforderlich ist, angewendet werden. Das Anschlußteil250 ist axial nicht festgehalten, sondern wird innerhalb der Haltevorrichtung260 unterstützt. In9B sind die Werkstücke erhitzt worden und in9C sind die Werkstücke miteinander ver bunden worden. Wenn das Anschlußteil250 erhitzt ist, besitzt es keinen Preßsitz mit dem Bolzen262 mehr. Gemäß Darstellung in9C wurde, wenn die Schweißverbindung270 ausgeführt worden wird, das Werkstück250 gegen einen Anschlag266 in der Haltevorrichtung260 gedrückt. Während die Schweißstelle270 abkühlt, kann sich das Anschlußteil250 frei zurückziehen und wird axial nicht festgehalten, während es gleichzeitig immer noch radial ausgerichtet ist. Somit ermöglichen die erfindungsgemäßen Haltevorrichtungen ein Abkühlen der Schweißstellen, wobei wenigstens eines von den verbundenen Werkstücken axial nicht festgehalten wird. - Die exemplarischen Ausführungsformen
8A –8C und9A –9D haben spezifische strukturelle Merkmale, die aufgrund der der verschweißten spezifischen Anschlußkonstruktion oder -geometrie verwendet werden. Diese Ausführungsformen sollten nicht in einem einschränkenden Sinne betrachtet werden. Das eigentliche Merkmal besteht darin, dass wenigstens eines von den Werkstücken während des Erhitzungsschrittes unterstützt wird, jedoch während des Abkühlschrittes nach der Schweißung axial nicht festgehalten wird, um Restspannungen zu eliminieren. - Die Erfindung wurde unter Bezugnahme auf die bevorzugte Ausführungsform beschrieben. Modifikationen und Änderungen sind für andere nach dem Lesen und Verstehen dieser Beschreibung ersichtlich. Alle derartigen Modifikationen und Änderungen sollen mit erfasst sein, soweit sie in den Schutzumfang der beigefügten Ansprüche fallen.
Claims (3)
- Haltevorrichtung (
206 ) für ein Werkstück (W1), das mit Infrarotwärme geschweißt wird, wobei die Haltevorrichtung umfasst: eine Basis (208 ); ein Element, das sich von der Basis aus erstreckt und so eingerichtet ist, dass es mit dem Werkstück (W1) in Eingriff kommt, wobei das Element das Werkstück (W1) radial ausrichtet und das Werkstück (W1) axial hält, bevor mit Wärme auf das Werkstück (W1) eingewirkt wird; das Werkstück (W1) an dem Element axial nicht festgehalten wird, nachdem das Werkstück (W1) als Teil eines Schweißvorgangs erhitzt worden ist. - Haltevorrichtung (
206 ) nach Anspruch 1, wobei das Element einen Bolzen (210 ) umfasst, der mit dem Werkstück (W1) in Presspassung verbunden ist, bevor das Werkstück (W1) erhitzt wird. - Haltevorrichtung (
206 ) nach Anspruch 1, wobei das Element eine Hülse (264 ) umfasst, die einen entsprechenden Flansch (254 ) an dem Werkstück (W1) einschließt.
