Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method for destroying and suppressing of foam areas on liquid surfaces.
The problem of foam formation occurs in many chemical processes on. Especially in the textile industry, for example when dyeing textiles, foam is noticeable. For this Basically, anti-foam chemicals are used in large quantities Pressing this foam formation used. Among other things, too biological anti-foam chemicals based on rapeseed oil, de However, their use is a major uncertainty factor, especially when dyeing textiles. From environmental technology The reason for this is the use of large quantities of antifoam chemicals lien no longer wearable.
It is therefore the object of the present invention, a method To provide a cheap, reliable and environmentally friendly destruction and suppression of foam on liquid surface areas allowed.
According to the invention this object is achieved in that the foam area is irradiated with electromagnetic radiation.
The use of electromagnetic radiation has the advantage with the fact that the use of anti-foam chemicals is eliminated. Without anti-foam chemicals, the not inconsiderable cost for any missing parts, along with chemicals and additional wastewater costs be saved. Foam bubbles can already occur in the development process be destroyed. The necessary electrical energy is minimal there the mass of the foam to be destroyed is very low. Principle This process can be integrated into any existing system be grated.
A preferred embodiment of the invention provides that To irradiate the foam area with microwaves. The use of micro Waves is particularly suitable for all types of foam, the Liquid component has a dipole moment.
The frequency of the microwave radiator is advantageously through tunable and the microwave power variable to the process pa parameters to substances with different surface tensions fit.
It has also proven advantageous to use an electrically iso to fix the metal grille over the surface of the liquid conditions that the microwaves are reflected on this grating. It can thus be avoided that microwave energy from the rivers liquid is absorbed, which represents an unnecessary loss of energy would ask. It can also prevent that the liquid is heated by the microwave radiation.
The foam area can either be from above, from the side or from below, with respect to the surface of the liquid. Thereby, that the position of the microwave transmitter is not at a position is restricted, the method can be used in any existing system to get integrated. If the foam area is irradiated from below, there is the advantage that the liquid, if necessary, too can also be heated.
Another embodiment provides for the foam area To irradiate laser light. The use of laser light brings that Advantage with it that no further shielding precautions like it are required for example in the microwave process must be opened. The foam area can either be from above or laterally, with respect to the liquid surface, who is irradiated the.
In a further embodiment of the present invention a high voltage is applied to at least one electrode which is above the Liquid surface is arranged in the foam area. It is sufficient to use an electrode when the pelvis with the liquid as a counter electrode, for example is grounded. However, several electrodes can be placed over the Liquid surface can be arranged in the foam area. Depending on Charge capacity can deflect or vaporize the foam bubbles become. The discharge and thus the evaporation of the foam bubbles between the electrodes is done by lowering the isola tion resistance in the presence of foam.
Applying AC voltage to at least two electrodes in the same way over the liquid surface in the foam area are arranged, has the advantage that the electrodes are less destroyed by redox reactions than with DC chip nung.
Advantageously, the high voltage or high frequency AC voltage to an electrode comb that is above the liquid surface is arranged in the foam area. This arrangement tion has the advantage that foam prevents large areas and can be destroyed. The voltages can be adjusted using a varia Blen series resistor can be applied. The tensions can continue also be applied in the form of voltage pulses, so that at for example, a voltage pulse is always applied when Foam is detected by a show detector. One of those described control enables a reliable and energy saving process to keep foam formation under control.
In an advantageous embodiment, platinum wires are used as electrodes used in a glass or kera containing electrolytes micro-bodies are melted.
Exemplary embodiments of the invention are described below with reference to Drawings explained in more detail.

Fig. 1, the method for destroying and suppressing should on liquid surfaces of the present invention illustrate foam areas. 6 denotes a basin that is filled with liquid 1 . The foam area 3 to be destroyed is located above the liquid surface 2 . A radiation source 4 is arranged above the basin to destroy and suppress the foam 3 . The radiation source 4 directs its electromagnetic rays onto the foam area that is to be destroyed or prevented. As a result, the liquid film of the foam bubbles, or foam bubbles formed, is evaporated spontaneously, which leads to the destruction or prevention of the foam. As already mentioned, microwave transmitters, lasers or high-voltage electrodes can be used as radiation sources.
Fig. 2 shows the structure of the device, as already shown in Fig. 1, but here a microwave transmitter 4 is used as radiation source. For this reason, an electrically insulated metal grid 5 is placed over the liquid surface 2 . The microwave radiation can thus be reflected by the grating 5 , as a result of which there is no undesired absorption of energy and therefore no energy losses through the liquid 1. It is thus further ensured that the foam formation is reliably suppressed or the foam is reliably destroyed without heating the liquid by the microwave radiation.
Fig. 3 shows a further device for destroying and suppressing foam areas according to the high voltage process. As in the previous exemplary embodiments, liquid 1 is located in the basin 6 , the foam area 3 being arranged above the liquid surface 2 . Above the liquid surface 2 , projecting into the foam area 3 , there are two electrodes 4 a, 4 b, to which a voltage U E can be applied using a high-voltage power supply 7 . The high-voltage power supply has a safety switch 9 . The voltage is applied to the electrodes 4 a, 4 b via a variable resistor 8 . As electrodes 4 a, 4 b, platinum wires 11 are used, for example, which are melted into a glass or ceramic body 13 , which contains an electrolyte 12 . If a voltage UE is applied to the electrodes 4 a, b, a discharge can occur in the discharge region 10 between the electrodes if the insulation resistance between the electrodes is reduced by the presence of foam. Thus, the foam bubbles can be effectively destroyed by evaporating their liquid film. Depending on the charge capacity, the foam bubbles can be deflected or evaporated.
As is to be clarified in FIG. 4, the voltage can also be applied to an electrode comb 4 c, 4 d. With the help of this electrode comb, larger foam areas can be treated.
In order to make the process for destroying and suppressing foam even more efficient, a foam detector (not shown) can be attached to the basin 6 , which indicates the presence of foam.
Fig. 5 shows the voltage-time diagram for a detector signal, and the electrode voltage. If foam is detected at a time t 1 , this is indicated by the detector signal S D. A voltage U E is then applied to the electrodes 4 a, b at time t 2 , which leads to the destruction of the foam. If the foam is destroyed at time t 3 , this is indicated by the voltage detector in that the detector signal S D falls back to 0, whereupon the electrode voltage U E drops to 0 at time t 4 .
The inventive method described is both in large-scale can be used as well as for use in the laboratory suitable, and thus enables a simple and reliable Zer disruption and prevention of foam of all kinds.
