Patentirt im Deutschen Reiche vom ii. December 1886 ab.Patented in the German Empire from ii. December 1886.
In the case of valves on containers for liquid carbon dioxide, there is the problem that while they are open, owing to evaporation of liquid and expansion the acid that has become gaseous is a build-up of solid carbonic acid on the valve cone as forms on the valve seat, which both prevents the gas from flowing out freely, as well as when screwing down the cone, the tight seal of the same is impaired. Also can Solid particles accidentally getting between the cone and its seat have the same effect bring forth. In addition, these valves, like other valves, have a high The pressure of the gases and liquids to be shut off are exposed to the difficulty present to keep the stuffing boxes tight.
The present invention now aims, on the one hand, to replace the seat surfaces of the valves by peculiar, to clean wipers or scrapers connected to the valve cones if an attachment preventing the outflow has formed or the valve is to be screwed on, on the other hand the stuffing boxes with a Packing and a cuff, so that the latter can do the former of the existing gas or liquid pressure and in relation to it. At the same time, the sleeve can be used to clean the valve cone.
The valve cone α made of one piece with the rod b and shaped like its seat with slightly converging sides has an extension d which is provided with two lateral cutouts d l and a hole connecting them. A piece of rubber s , which forms the wiper mentioned, is inserted into this hole, the length of which is slightly greater than the largest diameter of the cone, but which can be pressed into the cut-out d 'in such a way that it extends with the extension d into the bore c of the valve housing able to penetrate. If, with the valve open, Fig. 2, carbonic acid crystals or other solid particles have attached themselves to the valve seat, and the valve cone is then screwed down, the piece of rubber wipes the seat clean when the cone is turned, and the valve closes tightly. If the valve was only slightly ventilated and consequently only a weak attachment could form in the opening gap, this leads to the weak convergence of the sides of the sealing surfaces. the rotation of the cone alone brings about purification and complete closure.
Dabei verhindert eine an diesem Ringe befindliche Nase die Drehung des Ringes, wenn derselbe zur Wirkung kommt.FIGS. 5 and 6 show a valve in which the wiper consists of a rubber ring s which is pushed onto the pin q and is held in place by a ring r. A nose located on this ring prevents the ring from rotating when it comes into effect.
Diese Schaber liegen in seitlichen Einschnitten der Verlängerung d und bilden die Köpfe zweier an d According to FIGS. 7 to 10, the wiper is replaced by a scraper t made of metal. These scrapers lie in side incisions of the extension d and form the heads of two at d
befestigten Federn. According to the arrangement indicated in the drawing, the springs are combined with a ring u , which is pushed onto a pin g similar to the one mentioned above and is held in place by the ring ν .
The new stuffing box arrangement has, on top of the packing k and the two metal rings / and / ', the rubber sleeve m , which is inverted U-shaped and extends outward against the wall of the valve housing, inward against the valve rod d and upward against the ring Z 1 sets. The ring Z 1 rests above the cuff on a shoulder in the housing and can be moved in this. The cuff will therefore not only produce a seal itself, but will also compress the packing k as a result of the pressure acting on it from below and in proportion to its strength. In order to be able to use the cuff to clean the valve cone α , the length of the rod b is dimensioned so that, when it is screwed back completely, the cone enters the cuff and on this, due to the existing pressure as well as on the rod b is also pressed against the cone, stripping off any existing approach.
