Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf zusammengesetzte Beschichtungsmaterialien und Verfahren zur
Erhöhung der Korrosionsbeständigkeit von Metallteilen, insbesondere gegenüber einer SaIz-Sprüh-Korrosion.

Das Oxidieren oder Rosten von Metallteilen bei
längerer Verwendung in der Umgebung ist bekannt und stellt ein vielfaches industrielles Problem dar. Ein besonderes Problem ergibt sich bei der Automobilindustrie hinsichtlich der Oxidation
metallener Fahrzeugteile, wie Bolzen, Muttern
und dergleichen. Insbesondere handelt es sich um ein Ersatz- oder Austauschproblem. Eine Oxidation oder ein Rosten bei einer galvanischen SchweiBung macht es unmöglich, den verrosteten Bolzen oder die verrostete Mutter zu entfernen, so daß sich die Notwendigkeit sie mit einem Brenner oder einem
längerer Verwendung in der Umgebung ist bekannt und stellt ein vielfaches industrielles Problem dar. Ein besonderes Problem ergibt sich bei der Automobilindustrie hinsichtlich der Oxidation
metallener Fahrzeugteile, wie Bolzen, Muttern
und dergleichen. Insbesondere handelt es sich um ein Ersatz- oder Austauschproblem. Eine Oxidation oder ein Rosten bei einer galvanischen SchweiBung macht es unmöglich, den verrosteten Bolzen oder die verrostete Mutter zu entfernen, so daß sich die Notwendigkeit sie mit einem Brenner oder einem

ähnlichen Werkzeug abzubrennen. Außerdem kann ein Bolzen oder eine Mutter so stark oxidiert
sein, daß sie bricht. Hierdurch kann wiederum ein Bruch oder eine Schwächung entscheidender
Konstruktionsteile herbeiführen, wobei mögliche Beschädigungen oder gar Unfälle mit dem Fahrzeug
in Betracht kommen können.
Um das Problem des Röstens von Befestigungselementen oder anderen Komponenten des Fahrzeuges
zu beherrschen, haben die Kraftwagenhersteller bestimmte untere Korrosionsrichtlinien aufgestellt.
Wenn ein Befestigungsorgan diesen Richtlinien nicht genügt, ist er für eine Verwendung
ungeeignet. Der am meisten übliche Industrietest ist ein Salz-Sprüh-Korrosionstest, bei dem ein
Befestigungsorgan einer Salz-Sprüh-Atmosphäre für eine bestimmte Zeit ausgesetzt wird. Der
Umfang der Korrosion des Teiles nach Ablauf der vorbestimmten Zeit entscheidet darüber, ob der
Teil verwendbar ist oder nicht.
Daher sind Befestigungsorgane, die voraussichtlich die Korrosions-Widerstandsprüfung der Kraftfahrzeugindustrie
überstehen sollen, mit einer Phosphatlösung, beispielsweise einem Zinkphosphat oder
dergleichen, nach bekannten Techniken behandelt. Darauf wird der Metallteil mit einem phosphatierenden
öl ("phosphating oil") oder einem anderen gegen salzresistenten Material überzogen. Jedoch
bieten die auf diese Weise behandelten Teile bei den Korrosions-Widerstands-Prüfungen erhebliche
Schwierigkeiten.
Der Erfindung liegt demgegenüber die Aufgabe zugrunde, diese bestehenden Schwierigkeiten
auszuräumen und ein Überzugsmaterial zu schaffen, das den aus Metall bestehenden Befestigungsorganen und anderen Metallteilen eine Korrosionsfestigkeit
verleiht, die erfolgreich den Test der Automobilindustrie übersteht.
Dieses Material unterscheidet sich von den bekannten bisher verwendeten Zusammensetzungen.
Beispielsweise zeigt die US-PS 4 216 032 ein verbessertes phosphatierendes öl, dem ein
wirksamer Anteil an Polyvinylpyrrolidon und Zinkpulver zugegeben ist.
Diese Aufgabe wird bei einem Material nach dem Oberbegriff des Hauptanspruches dadurch gelöst,
daß es aus einem phosphatierendem öl und einer Siloxanverbindung besteht, die entweder ein
Alkylpolysiloxan oder ein Polyalkylsiloxan ist.
Das erfindungsgemäße Material ist eine wäßrige Lösung, die aus ca. 5 bis 35 Vol.-% des phosphatierenden
Öles und aus ca. 0,1 bis 25 Vol.-% des Siloxanes besteht mit einem Rest auf Wasserbasis.
Vorzugsweise besteht das Material aus ca. 5 bis 25 Vol.-% öl und aus 0,1 bis 10 Vol.-% Siloxan.
Das Überzugsmaterial, das eine wäßrige Lösung bildet, wird auf ein Befestigungsorgan oder
einen anderen metallischen Teil aufgetragen, nachdem dieser einer Phosphatbehandlung unterzogen
worden ist. Das Überzugsmaterial wird bei Umgebungsbedingungen und bei einer an sich beliebigen
geeigneten Methode aufgetragen, beispielsweise durch Sprühen, Bürsten, Tauchen oder dergleichen.
Die auf diese Weise behandelten Teile haben eine ausgezeichnete Fähigkeit, einen 400 Stunden dauernden
Salz-Sprüh-Test zu überstehen. Die nachfolgenden Darlegungen und Ausführungsbeispiele dienen
dem weiteren Verständnis und der weiteren Erläuterung der Erfindung.
Wie eingangs gesagt, handelt es sich bei der vorliegenden Erfindung um ein Überzugsmaterial
zur Erzielung einer Korrosionsfestigkeit von aus Metall bestehenden Befestigungsorganen
oder anderen Teilen, das im allgemeinen aus einer wäßrigen Lösung einer Mischung aus einem
phosphatierenden öl und einem Siloxan besteht.
Insbesondere besteht das Überzugsmaterial aus einer wäßrigen Lösung aus ca. 5 bis 35 Vol.-%
öl und ca. 0,1 bis 25 Vol.-% des Siloxans. Vorzuziehen sind ca. 5 bis 25 Vol.-% und
ca. 0,1 bis 10 Vol.-% Siloxan mit einem Rest praktisch aus Wasser. Unter dem Begriff
phosphatierende öle ist ein eine lange Kette besitzendes aliphatisches oder cycloaliphatisches
öl, wie beispielsweise Rizinusöl, Tungöl, Leinöl, Naphthenöl und dergleichen zu verstehen. Typische
phosphatierende öle sind im Handel erhältlich und bestehen aus wäßrigen Emulsionen der öle,
die Stabilisatoren, Emulgiermittel und andere Additive enthalten. Die phosphatierenden öle
sind unter einer Vielzahl von Warennamen und Warenzeichen erhältlich, wie beispielsweise
Permoil WS der Detrex Chemical; NAPREX der
TJ
Mobil Oil Corporation; Tectyl der Ashland Petroleum Company und andere.
Alle diese auf dem Markt greifbaren phosphatierenden
öle haben in der Hauptsache eine gleiche Wirkung.
Die Siloxane werden, wie bekannt, im allgemeinen hergestellt durch die Kondensation der Siloxane
zur Bildung der charakteristischen Si-O-Si Bindung. Diese hier verwendbaren Siloxane sind
die Polyalkylsiloxane und die Alkylpolysiloxane, ebenso auch ihre Mischungen. Die hier verwendeten
Siloxane sind vorzugsweise Polyalkylsiloxane, bei denen das Alkyl-Radical ca. 1 bis 4 Kohlenstoffatome
und ihre Mischungen enthält.
Es wurde gefunden, daß für die vorliegende Erfindung in der Praxis aminofunktionale Polyalkylsiloxane
in hohem Grade geeignet sind. Diese aminofunktionalen Polyalkylsiloxane sind Handelsprodukte, wie sie beispielsweise von der
Dow Corning unter den Bezeichnungen DOW CORNING und DOW CORNING 536 vertrieben werden. Diese
Produkte werden als copolymere aminofunktionale Polydimethylsiloxane beschrieben mit folgenden
physikalischen Eigenschaften:

Aminofunktionale Siloxane sind an sich in der
Literatur beschrieben, beispielsweise in den US-PS 3 508 933, 3 836 371 und 3 890 271 und
auch in der canadischen PS 1 031 485.
Um den Korrosionswiderstand der aminofunktionalen
Polysiloxane zu verbessern, können sie außerdem mit einer einfachen und auch mit einer Fettsäure,
beispielsweise Azetylsäure, Stearinsäure, Isostearinsäure, Laurinsäure, ihren Isomeren und Derivaten,
und auch ihren Mischungen reagiert werden. Bei Verwendung einer Säurereaktion wird vorzugsweise
das Siloxan mit einer Fettsäure reagiert. Die Reaktion von aminofunktionalen Polysiloxanen mit
Fettsäuren ist in der Technik an sich bekannt.
Bei der Herstellung des erfindungsgemäßen Uberzugsmaterials
wird allgemein eine wäßrige Lösung benutzt. Die wäßrige Lösung wird hergestellt durch
Zugabe der Silikonkomponente zu dem phosphatierenden öl, das üblicherweise als wäßrige Emulsion
vorliegt. Das sich ergebende zusammengesetzte Beschichtungsmaterial besteht aus ca. 5 bis 25 Vol.-%
phosphatierenden Öles, aus ca. 0,1 bis ca. 25 Vol.-% des Siloxanes und aus dem Rest Wasser. Bei der
Herstellung der wäßrigen Lösung liegen das öl und das Siloxan in einem volumetrischen Verhältnis
von ca. 40:1 bis ca. 1:1 vor.
Es können zusätzliche Bestandteile in das Material inkorporiert werden, beispielsweise Emulgierungsmittel,
surfactantes Lösungsmittel und dergleichen, um die Lagerungsfähigkeit, die Löslichkeit und
dergleichen zu erhöhen.
Es ist festzustellen, daß der durch die Erfindung erzielte Erfolg überraschend und unerwartet war
angesichts der Tatsache, daß die Literatur von einer Mischung eines phosphatierenden Öles
und eines Polysiloxans abrät.

Das erfindungsgemäße Beschichtungsmaterial wird
angewendet auf ein Metallteil, beispielsweise ein aus Metall bestehendes Befestigungselement
oder dergleichen, nachdem es phosphatiert worden ist. Das Phosphatieren eines Metallteiles,
üblicherweise eines Eisenteiles, besteht, wie bekannt, darin, daß das Teil einer heißen oder
erwärmten Phosphatlösung, beispielsweise heißem Zinkphosphat, heißer Phosphorsäure oder einer
ähnlichen heißen Lösung ausgesetzt und anschließend gekühlt wird zur Passivierung des
Metallteiles.
Bei der Anwendung des Beschichtungs- oder Uberzugsmaterials
kann jede Technik angewendet werden, beispielsweise das Tauchen, das Sprühen, das
Bürsten und dergleichen. Die Anwendung des Materials erfolgt bei einer Temperatur zwischen ca. 16 und
ca. 80° C, und vorzugsweise zwischen 21 und 65 C. Diese Temperaturen dienen der Förderung der
Löslichkeit des Materials.
Die nachfolgenden Ausführungsbeispiele dienen der weiteren Erläuterung der Erfindung, stellen jedoch
keine Beschränkung der Erfindung dar.
Das Beispiel zeigt die Wirksamkeit des erfindungsgemäßen Materials hinsichtlich seiner Fähigkeit ι
einem Test der Kraftwagenindustrie zu widerstehen, bei dem mit Farbe bestrichene Metallteile einem
240 Stunden dauernden Salzsprühtest unterworfen werden nach Waschung einer 0,5%igen Lösung mit
dem unter der Bezeichnung RALLYE bekannten Waschmittel der Firma Dupont.
Eine Reihe von Eisenbolzen wurden phosphatiert durch Eintauchen in einer starken Zink-Phosphat-Lösung.
Darauf wurden die Bolzen gespült und in üblicher Weise versiegelt. Dann wurden die
Bolzen getrocknet und mit einer schwarzen Farbe (55 second viscosity) bestrichen. Nach dem Bestreichen
wurden die Bolzen im Ofen bei 180 C bis zum trockenen Zustand nachbehandelt. Nach
dem Härten wurden die Bolzen in eine wäßrige Uberzugslösung eingetaucht aus 20 Vol.-% eines
phosphatierenden Öles der Firma Detrex Chemical mit der Bezeichnung PERMOIL WS; aus 20 Vol.-%
einer aminofunktionalen Polydimethylsiloxanlösung mit einem Gehalt von 7 Vol.-% Siloxan,
und aus 60 Vol.-% Wasser.
Nach dem Tauchen wurden die Bolzen 24 Stunden lang bei Raumtemperatur an der Luft getrocknet.
Dann wurden die Bolzen in einer 1/2 %igen wäßrigen Waschlösung mit der Bezeichnung RALLYE gewaschen. Die
Bolzen wurden dann gespült in Leitungswasser und im Luftstrom getrocknet.
Darauf wurden die Bolzen in ein Salz-Sprüh-Cabinett gegeben und nach einer 312 Stunden dauernden
Behandlung in dem Cabinet zeigten sie kein Anzeichen von Rost.
Bei der Durchführung dieses Beispieles war das aminofunktionale Polydiraethylsiloxan ein im
Handel unter der Bezeichnung POLYBRITE erhältliches Produkt mit folgender Zusammensetzung:

(1) ist einAlkanolamid-Emulgierer mit der Bezeichnung
WITCAMIDE 511.
(2) ist eine Mischung aus Kerosin und Benzin (mineral spirits)
Beispiel I wurde wiederholt unter Verwendung von Permoil WS und einer wäßrigen aminofunktionalen
Dimethylsiloxanlösung wie folgt: 25

Bei der Herstellung dieser Zusammensetzung wird die Säure dem Siloxan zugegeben unter Mischung
von 15 Minuten. Während dieser Zeit erfolgte eine vollständige exothermische Reaktion. Darauf
wurde das Emulgierungsmittel der Mischung aus Siloxan und Säure zugegeben. Darauf erfolgte
die Zugabe des Lösungsmittels und anschließend des Wassers. Dieses sich ergebende wäßrige
System wurde dann dem PERMOIL WS zur Bildung einer 20, 20; 60 Vol.-%igen Lösung zugefügt.
Die so behandelten Bolzen zeigten nach einer 240 stündigen Behandlung in einem Salz-Sprüh-CaBinet
keinen Rostansatz.
Beispiel I wurde wiederholt mit der Ausnahme, daß der Farbanstrich weggelassen wurde. Bei Verwendung
von 12 Metallbolzen zeigten nach einer 240 stündigen Behandlung in dem Cabinet lediglich zwei Bolzen
einen leichten Rostansatz. Die übrigen zehn
Bolzen zeigten keinerlei Rost nach einem 336 stündigen Aufenthalt in dem Cabinet.
Das Beispiel I wurde wiederholt unter Benutzung einer wäßrigen Lösung aus 10 Vol.-% PERMOIL WS,
10 Vol.-% Siloxanlösung und 80 Vol.-% Wasser. Die hiermit behandelten Bolzen zeigten nach 144 Stunden
einen beginnenden Rostansatz. Bei einer Wiederholung mit aminofunktionalem Dimethylsiloxan unterschiedlichen
Molekulargewichtes zeigten die Bolzen nach 168 stündigem Aufenthalt in dem Cabinet Rost.
Beispiel I wurde wiederholt unter Verwendung eines Beschichtungsmaterials aus 10% PEFlMOIL WS als
phosphatierendem öl, aus 20 Vol.-% der aminofunktionalen Dimethylsiloxanlosung gemäß Beispiel
I und aus 70 Vol.-% Wasser. Die so behandelten Bolzen zeigten einen leichten Rostansatz nach
einem 168 stündigen Aufenthalt in dem Salz-Sprüh-Cabinet.
Beispiel I wurde wiederholt, wobei anstelle von Siloxan ein gleicher Anteil von ein geschmolzenes
]_5 Acryl-Wachs unter der Bezeichnung FUTURE benutzt
wurde. Nach 48 stündigem Aufenthalt in dem Cabinet waren die Bolzen verrostet.
Bei Verwendung des erfindungsgemäßen Beschichtungsmaterials zeigten sich offensichtliche Verbesserungen
des Korrosionswiderstandes.
Claims (15)
1. Wäßriges Beschichtungsmaterial zur Verbesserung der Korrosionsbeständigkeit von Metallteilen,
dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es besteht aus:
a) einem phosphatierenden öl (phosphating oil),
b) einemAlkylpolysiloxan oder Polyalkylsiloxan, und
c) Wasser.
2. Material nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Siloxan eil aminofunktionales Polyalkylsiloxan
ist.
3. Material nach Anspruch 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß das Siloxan ein aminofunktionales Dimethylsiloxan
ist.
4. Material nach Anspruch 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß das Siloxan ein Reaktionsprodukt ist aus einem aminofunktionalen Polyalkylsiloxan und
einer Fettsäure.
5. Material nach Anspruch 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Siloxan ein aminofunktionales Dimethylsiloxan
und die Säure eine Isostearinsäure ist.
6. Material nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es besteht aus ca. 5 bis 35 Vol.-%
phosphatierendem öl, aus ca. 0,1 bis ca. 25 Vol,-% Siloxan und aus ca. 90 bis 50 Vol.-% Wasser.
7. Material nach Anspruch 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß das öl und das Siloxan in einem volumetrischen Verhältnis von ca.
40 : 1 bis ca. 1 : 1 anwesend sind.
8. Material nach Anspruch 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das phosphatierende öl ein
Naphthenöl, und das Siloxan ein Reaktionsprodukt ist aus einem aminofunktionalen
Dimethylsiloxan und Isostearinsäure.
9. Material nach Anspruch 1,dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es ein Emulgierungsmittel
zur Förderung der Öl-In-Wasserlösungen und
organische Lösungsmittel enthält.
10. Verfahren zur Erhöhung der Korrosionsbeständigkeit von Metall, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß das Metall mit einer Phosphatlösung passiviert wird, und daß das phosphatierte
Metall mit einem wäßrigen Beschichtungsmaterial überzogen wird, das im wesentlichen aus einem
phosphatierenden öl, einem Alkylpolysiloxan oder einem Polyalkylsiloxan und aus Wasser
besteht.
11. Verfahren nach Anspruch 10, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß als Siloxan ein aminofunktionales
Polyalkylsiloxan verwendet wird.
12. Verfahren nach Anspruch 11,. dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß als Siloxan ein aminofunktionales
Dimethylsiloxan verwendet wird.

13. Verfahren nach Anspruch 10, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß als Siloxan ein Reaktionsprodukt aus einem aminofunktionalen Polyalkylsiloxan
und einer Fettsäure verwendet wird.
14. Verfahren nach Anspruch 13, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß als Siloxan ein Reaktionsprodukt eines aminofunktionalen Dimethylsiloxans
und Isostearinsäure verwendet wird.
15. Verfahren nach Anspruch 10, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das wäßrige Überzugsmaterial
auf einer Temperatur zwischen 16° C und 80 C gehalten wird.
