Description
Di© Erfindung betrifft ein neues Verfahren zur Erzielung
von Polyester/Carbonat-Mischpolymeren bzw. Mischpolyestercarbonaten unter Verwendung von Säuredichloriden bzw. Disäurechloriden und unter Anwendung eines pH-Wert-Profils.
Verschiedene Methoden zur Herstellung von Polyester/Carbonat-Mischpolymeren
sind in den US-PSen 3 030 331, 3 169 121 und 3 207 814 beschrieben, deren Offenbarungsgehalt durch diese
Bezugnahme in die vorliegende Anmeldung aufgenommen wird. Ferner beschreibt die deutsche Patentanmeldung P 27 56 416 des
gleichen Anmelders eine Methode zur Herstellung von Polyestercarbonaten durch eine Grenzflächenpolymerisationsmethode,
wobei die erhaltenen Mischpolymeren sowohl Carboxylat- als
auch Oarbonatreste enthalten. Ferner beschreibt das us-
Patent 4 130 548 des gleichen Anmelders eine Methode zur Herstellung von Polyester/Oarbonat-Mischpolymeren aus einem
gemischten Polyanhydridester einer Dicarbonsäure und einem Halogenkohlensäureester
einer Polyhydroxyverbindung bzw. aus einem
gemischten Polyanhydridester, der auf eine Dicarbonsäure und einen Halogenkohleusäureester einer Polyhydroxyverbindung
zurückgeht.
Obwohl diese Methoden des Standes der Technik anwendbar sind,
sind sie jedoch nicht vollständig zufriedenstellend, da sie entweder komplizierte chemische Reaktionen und kostspielige
Ausrüstung beinhalten oder teure Ausgangsstoffe erfordern oder zeitraubend sind und daher in ihrer Durchführung unwirt-

Es wurde festgestellt, daß man die Nachteile der Methoden des Standes der Technik, die man zur Erzielung von Polyester/
Carbonat-Mischpolymeren angewandt hat, durch das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren überwinden oder gering halten kann. Im allgemeinen
umfaßt das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren die Reaktion in einem geeigneten Lösungsmittelsystem bei einem ersten
pH-Niveau von etwa 9 bis 12, vorzugsweise 10 bis 11, eines zweiwertigen Phenols, eines Säuredichlorides und von
2 bis 4 Mol-$ Phenol zur Bildung eines Reaktionsmediums, wobei das molare Verhältnis des zweiwertigen Phenols zu dem Säuredichlorid
im Bereich von etwa 90:10 bis 55:45» vorzugsweise 85:15 bis 70:30 liegt; Zugabe eines Kettenabbrechers zu dem
Reaktionsmedium in einer Menge von etwa 2 bis 4 Mol-$ und
Einstellung des pH-Wertes des Reaktionsmediums auf ein zweites
Niveau von etwa 4 bis 7, vorzugsweise 5 bis 6; Zugabe einer Carbonatvorstufe zu dem Reaktionsmedium und Einstellung des
pH-Wertes auf ein drittes Niveau von etwa 9 bis 12, vorzugsweise 10 bis 11; Portsetzung der Zugabe der Carbonatvorstufe,
bis die Reaktion vollständig ist; und Gewinnung eines Polyester/ Carbonat-Mischpolymeren aus dem Lösungsmittelsystem.
Die Einstellung des pH-Wertes des Reaktionsmediums auf seine verschiedenen Niveaus kann man durchführen, indem man geeignete
inerte Lösungen verwendet. Beispielsweise kann man die basischen pH-Niveaus erhalten und regeln, indem man eine wässerige
kaustische Lösung zugibt, während man das saure pH-Niveau regelt, indem man entweder mehr Säuredichlorid oder Phosgen
zugibt.
Die Herstellung des Polyester/Oarbonat-Mischpolymeren unter Anwendung des genannten erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens erzielt
man in relativ kurzer Zeit. Beispielsweise kann man die Anfangsreaktion der Ausgangsstoffe auf dem ersten pH-Niveau von
9 bis 12 in etwa 10 bis 15 min durchführen, die Reaktion auf
dem zweiten pH-Niveau von 5 bis 6 kann man in etwa 4 bis 8 min

durchführen und die Endreaktion auf ^em dritten pH-Niveau von
9 bis 12 kann man in etwa 15 bis 25 min durchführen. Demgemäß kann die Gesamtreaktionszeit des Verfahrens etwa 30 bis 60 min
betragen, was bedeutend kürzer ist als die Zeit, die bei
den genannten Methoden des Standes der Technik möglich ist. Ferner sind alle Ausgangsstoffe leicht erhältlich und benötigen
keine zusätzliche Reinigung vor der Verwendung, so daß das Verfahren nicht nur leistungsfähig sondern auch wirtschaftlich
ist«
Die zweiwertigen Phenole, die man erfindungsgemäß verwenden
kann, sind Bisphenole, wie z.B. Bis-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-methan, 2,2-Bis-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-propan (Bisphenol-A), 2,2-Bis-(4-hydroxy-3-methylphenyl)-propan,
4,4-Bis-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-heptan, 2,2-Bis-(4-hydroxy-3,5-dichlorphenyl)-propan, 2,2-Bis-(4-hydroxy-3,5-dibromphenyl)-propan,
usw.; zweiwertige Phenoläther, wie z.B. Bis-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-äther, Bis-(3,5-dichlor-4Thydroxyphenyl)-äther,
usw.; D!hydroxydiphenyle, wie
z.B. p^'-Dihydroxydiphenyl, 3,3'-Dichlor-4,4-dihydroxydiphenyl,
usw.; Dihydroxyarylsulfone, wie z.B. Bis~(4-hydroxyphenyl)-sulfon,
Bis-(3,5-dimethyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)-sulfon, usw.;
Dihydroxybenzole, Resorcin, Hydrochinon, halogen- und alkylsubstituierte
Dihydroxybenzole, wie z.B. 1,4-Dihydroxy-2,5-dichlorbenzol,
1,4-Dihydroxy-3-methylbenzol, usw.; und DihydroxydiphenyIsulfoxide,
wie z.B. Bis-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-sulfoxid, Bis-(3,5-dibrom-4-hydroxyphenyl)-sulfoxid, usw. Eine
Vielzahl von Zusätzlichen zweiwertigen Phenolen ist auch verwendbar,
wie sie in den US-PSen 2 999 835, 3 028 365 und 3 153 008 beschrieben sind. Ferner sind Mischpolymere geeignet,
die man aus den genannten zweiwertigen Phenolen hergestellt hat, und die mit halogenhaltigen zweiwertigen Phenolen, wie
z.B. 2,2-Bis-(3,5-dichlor-4-hydroxyphenyl)-propan, 2,2-Bis-(3,5-dibrom-4-hydroxyphenyl)-propan
usw. mischpolymerisiert sind. Es ist ferner möglich, sowohl zwei oder mehrere verschiedene
zweiwertige Phenole oder ein Mischpolymeres aus einem zweiwertigen Phenol mit einem Glycol oder mit einem Polyester
mit Hydroxy- oder Säureendgruppen oder mit einer zweiwertigen

Säure als auch. Mischungen beliebiger der genannten Stoffe zu
verwenden.
Die Säuredichloride, die man erfindungsgemäß verwenden kann,
sind sowohl von aromatischen als auch von gesättigten aliphatischen zweiwertigen Säuren abgeleitet. Die gesättigten aliphatischen
zweiwertigen Säuren, die man erfindungsgemäß verwenden
kann, sind von geradkettigen Paraffinkohlenwasserstoffen
abgeleitet, und sind beispielsweise Oxalsäure, Malonsäure, Dimethylmalonsäure,
Bernsteinsäure, Glutarsäure, Adipinsäure, Pimelinsäure, Suberinsäure, Azelainsäure oder Sebacinsäure oder
die halogensubstituierten aliphatischen zweibasischen Säuren. Aliphatische Carbonsäuren mit einem Gehalt an Heteroatomen
in ihrer aliphatischen Kette, wie z.B. Thiod!glycolsäure oder
Diglycolsäure (thio-diglycollic or diglycollic acid) kann
man ferner ebenso verwenden, wie ungesättigte Säuren, wie z.B. Maleinsäure oder Fumarsäure.
Geeignete Beispiele für aromatische und aliphatisch _aromatische
bzw. alkylaliphatische Dicarbonsäuren, die man erfindungsgemäß
verwenden kann, sind Phthalsäure, Isophthalsäure, Terephthalsäure,
Homophthalsäure, o-, m- und p-Phenylendiessigsäure; und
die mehrkernigen aromatischen Säuren, wie z.B. Diphensäure, 1,4-Naphthalinsäure und 2,6-Naphthalinsäure. Bevorzugte Säure—
dichloride sind Isophthalsäuredichlorid (IPCl2) und Terephthals
äur edichlor id (TPCl2), wie auch ihre Mischungen.
Die Polyester/Carbonat-Mischpolymeren gemäß der Erfindung stellt
man her, indem man einen Molekulargewichtsregler, d.h. einen Kettenabbrecher, einen Säureakzeptor, eine Carbonatvorstufe
und einen Katalysator verwendet. Die Kettenabbrecher, die mau erfindungsgemäß verwenden kann, umfassen einwertige Phenole,
wie z.B. Phenol, Chroman-I, p-t-Buty!phenol, p-Bromphenol,
primäre und sekundäre Amine usw. Vorzugsweise verwendet man Phenol als Kettenabbrecher.
Der Säureakzeptor kann entweder ein organischer oder ein anor-

ganischer Säureakzeptor sein. Ein geeigneter organischer Säureakzeptor
ist ein tertiäres Amin und umfaßt Verbindungen, wie z.B. Pyridin, Iriäthylamin, Dimethylanilin, Tributylamin usw.
Der anorganische Säureakzeptor kann entweder ein Hydroxid, ein Carbonat, ein Bicarbonat oder ein Phosphat eines Alkalioder
Erdalkalimetalls sein.
Die Carbonatvorstufe, die man erfindungsgemäß verwenden kann,
ist entweder ein Carbony!halogenid, ein Kohlensäureester oder
ein Halogenformiat. Die Carbonylhalogeulde, die man erfindungsgemäö
verwenden kann, sind Carbonylbromid, Garbonylchlorid
und Mischungen davon. Typische Beispiele für die Kohlensäureester,
die man erfindungsgemäß verwenden kann, sind Diphenylcarbonat,
Di-(halogenphenyl)-carbonate, wie z.B. Di-(chlorphenyl)-carbonat,
Di-(bromphenyl)-carbonat, Di-(trichlorphenyl)-carbonat, Di-(tribromphenyl)-carbonat, usw.; Di-(alkylphenyl)-carbonate,
wie z.B. Di-(tolyl)-carbonat, usw.; Di-(naphthyl)-carbonat, Di-(chlornaphthyl)-carbonat, Phenyltolylcarbonat, Chlorphenylchlornaphthylcarbonats,
usw.; oder Mischungen davon. Die HaIogenformiate,
die man erfindungsgemäß verwenden kann, umfassen Bishalogenformiate von zweiwertigen Phenolen (z.B. Bisohlorformiate
von Hydrochinon, usw.)oder Glycolen (z.B. Bishalogenformiate
von Äthylenglycol, Neopentylglycol, Polyäthylenglycol,
usw.). Während andere Carbonatvorstufen für den Fachmann nahe liegen, bevorzugt man Carbonylchlorid, das auch als Phosgen
bekannt ist.
Ferner sind erfindungsgemäß die polymeren Derivate eines zweiwertigen
Phenols, einer Dicarbonsäure und von Kohlensäure eingeschlossen. Diese sind in der US-PS 3 169 121 beschrieben,
deren Offenbarungsgehalt durch diese Bezugnahme in die vorliegende
Anmeldung aufgenommen wird.
Die Katalysatoren, die man erfindungsgemäß verwenden kann,
können beliebige der geeigneten Katalysatoren sein, die die Polymerisation des Bisphenol-A und des Säuredichlorids mit
Phosgen unterstützen. Geeignete Katalysatoren

umfassen tertiäre Amine, wie z.B. Triäthylamin, Tripropylamin,
N,N-Dimethylanilin, quaternäre Ammoniumverbindungen, wie z.B.
Tetraäthylammoniumbromid, Cetyltriäthylammoniumbromid, Tetran-heptylammoniunijodid,
Tetra-n-propylammoniumbromid, Tetramethylammoniumchlorid,
Tetramethylammoniumhydroxid, Tetra-nbutylammoniumjodid,
Benzyltrimethylammoniumchlorid, und quaternäre
Phosphoniumverbindungen, wie z.B. n-Butyltriphenylphosphoniumbromid
und Methyltr iphenylphoBphoniuinbroniid.
Das angewandte Lösungsmittelsystem ist ein System, das die Ausgangsstoffe aufnehmen kann, das jedoch hinsichtlich der
Ausgangsstoffe inert ist. Beispielsweise kann man ein wässeriges
organisches Lösungsmittelsystem anwenden, worin der organische Bestandteil leicht die Ausgangsstoffe aufnehmen kann,
jedoch ihnen gegenüber inert ist. Beispielhaft für derartige organische Bestandteile sind Methylenchlorid, Chlorbenzol,
Cyclohexanon, !Tetrachlorkohlenstoff usw. Vorzugsweise ist der organische Anteil des Lösungsmittelsystems Methylenchlorid.
Ferner sind erfindungsgemäß verzweigte Polyester/Carbonat-Mischpolymere
eingeschlossen, worin man eine polyfunktioneile aromatische
Verbindung mit dem zweiwertigen Phenol, der Carbonatvorstufe und dem Säuredichlorid umgesetzt hat und ein thermoplastisches
unregelmäßig verzweigtes Polyester/Carbonat-Mischpolymeres
erzielt hat.
Diese polyfunktionellen aromatischen Verbindungen enthalten
mindestens drei funktioneile Reste, die Carboxylreste, Carbonsäureanhydridreste,
Halogenformylreste oder Mischungen davon sind. Beispiele für diese polyfunktionellen aromatischen Verbindungen
sind Trimellitsäureanhydrid, Trimellitsäure, Tr imellityltrichlorid,
4-Chlorformy!phthalsäureanhydrid, Pyromellitsäure,
. Pyromellitsäuredianhydrid, Mellitsäure, Mellitsäureanhy^rid, Trimesinsäure, Benzophenontetracarbonsäure,
Benzophenontetracarbonsäureanhydrid usw. Bevorzugte
polyfunktloneile aromatische Verbindungen sind Trimellitsäureanhydrid
oder Trimellitsäure oder ihre Halogenformylderivate.

Ferner sind erfindungsgemäß Mischu-^en aus einem linearen
und einem verzweigten Polyester/Ce ^onat~Mischpolymeren eingeschlossen.
Durch Anwendung des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens kann man die
physikalischen Eigenschaften des hergestellten Polyester/Carbonat~Mischpolymeren
derart modifizieren, daß man eine oder mehrere der erwünschten Eigenschaften betont bzw. verbessert, indem
man die Menge des verwendeten Kettenabbrechers regelt. Beispielsweise
kann man Polyester/Carbonat-Mischpolymere mit einer verbesserten Warmverformungstemperatur bzw. erhöhten
Temperatur der Verformung in der Wärme, einer verbesserten Zugfestigkeit usw. leicht erhalten, und dennoch sind die gesamten
physikalischen Eigenschaften dieser Mischpolymeren ähnlich jenen eines hochmolekularen aromatischen Polycarbonates.
Nachstehend wird die Erfindung durch Beispiele näher erläutert, wobei in den Beispielen Teile und Prozentangaben auf Gewicht
bezogen sind, sofern nichts anderes angegeben ist.
Beispiel 1; Polymerisation von Polyestercarbonat unter Verwendung
von IsophthaIsäuredichlorid:
In ein Eeaktionsgefäß von 37,85 1 (10 gal) setzte man 1826 g
(8 Mol) 2,2«-Bis-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-propan (BPA), 7 1 Methylenchlorid,
5,5 1 Wasser, 28 ml (2 Mol-#) Triäthylamin als Katalysator
und 3»4 g Natriumgluconat ein. Bei einem pH-Wert von 9 bis 10 gab man 406 g (2 Mol) Isophthalsäuredichlorid (IPCl2)
in 1 1 Methylenchlorid innerhalb eines Zeitraums von 12 min zu, während man den pH-Wert mit 35 #-iger wässeriger
kaustischer Lösung regelte. Phenol (28,23 g, 3 Mol-#) gab man
zu, erniedrigte den pH-Wert auf 5 bis 6 durch Einführen von Phosgen und führte zusätzliches Phosgen danach mit einer Rate
von 36 g/min weitere 5 min lang zu. Den pH-Wert stellte man auf 11 ein und setzte die Phosgenierung bei einer Rate von
36 g/min 17 min lang fort, während man den pH-Wert bei 11 mit 35 #-iger wässeriger kaustischer Lösung hielt. Die Lösung
verdünnte man mit 5 1 Methylenchlorid, arbeitete auf übliche

Weise auf und erzielte ein weißes Pulver. Das Harz stabilisierte man mit üblichen stabilisierenden Mengen eines Phosphits
und eines Epoxide, wie in der DE-PS 1 694 285 beschrieben ist.
Beispiel 2: Physikalische Eigenschaften eines Polyester/
Carbonat-Mischpolymeren, bei dem man verschiedene Mengen an Säuredichlorid und Kettenabbrechern
verwendet hatte:
Man folgte der Methode von Beispiel 1 zur Erzielung von weiteren Polyester/Garbonat-Mischpolymeren mit der Ausnahme, daß
man den molaren Prozentgehalt von Isophthalsäuredichlorid
und den molaren Prozentgehalt an Phenol als Kettenabbrecher variierte. Jedes der erhaltenen Mischpolymerharze in Pulverform
führte man danach einem Extruder zu, der bei einer Temperatur von etwa 260 0C (500 0I) arbeitete, extrudierte das Harz zu
Strängen und zerhackte die extrudierten Stränge zu Pellets. Die Pellets formte man danach durch Spritzguß bei etwa 315 0C
(600 0P) zu Testproben, die etwa 76 χ 51 2 3,2 mm (3!r x 2» χ
1/8») maßen.
Die Grundviskosität (17) der Harze bestimmte man in Methylenchlorid
bei 25 0C, und ihren Schmelzindex (MI) bestimmte man
durch den modifizierten ASTM-Test D-12'38. Die Warmverformungstemperatur bzw. Temperatur der Verformung in der Wärme unter
Belastung (DTUL) der geformten Proben mit bzw« ohne einem handelsüblichen Glasfüllstoff bestimmte man gemäß ä©m ASTM-Test
D-648. Die geformten Proben mit eins® Gehalt an Glasfüllstoff
erhielt man auf gleiche Weise wie oben beschrieben mit der Ausnahme, daß man den Glasfüllstoff in ainer Menge von
9 Gew.-jS (bezogen auf das Mischpolymerharz)mit dem Mischpolymerharzpulver
mi sehte ,indem man die Bestandteile in einem. Laboratoriumsrollfaß
vor dea Extrudieren der Mi&ehung susasnmenmisehte.
Die erhaltenen Ergebnisse eind in der nachstehenden Tabelle I

Wie sich aus den Ergebnissen von Tabelle I ergibt, steigen die DTUI-Werte des Polyester/Carbonat-Mischpolymeren an, wenn
der molare Prozentgehalt an IPCl2 ansteigt, und dieser Instieg
scheint vom Prozentgehalt des verwendeten Kettenabbrechers unabhängig zu sein. Ferner erzielt man erhöhte DTUIi-W erte
in geformten Proben mit einem Gehalt an 9 Gew.-$ Glas.
Weitere Eigenschaften der Proben B bis "K bestimmte man ferner
und die erhaltenen Ergebnisse sind in Tabelle II gezeigt, wobei man die nachstehenden verschiedenen Tests anwandte:
Den Gelbindex (YI) bestimmte man gemäß dem ASTM-Test D-1925
an Proben, die man bei 315 0G (600 0F) geformt hatte;
die Izod-Kerbschlagfestigkeit (NI) und die Izod-Schlagfestigkeit
ohne Kerbe (UNI) der 3,2 mm (1/8") dicken geformten Proben bestimmte man gemäß ASTM-Test D-256;
die Biegefließgrenze bzw. Biegeempfindlichkeit (PY) und den
Biegemodul (PM) bestimmte man gemäß ASTM-Test D-790.
In Tabelle II entsprechen die Proben C, G1 und H1 den Proben
0, G und H mit der Ausnahme, daß sie 9 Gew.-$ Glasfüllstoff
enthalten.
Die Ergebnisse von Tabelle II zeigen, daß die Werte der Izod-Kerbschlagfestigkeit
leicht abnehmen, wenn der molare Prozentgehalt an IPCl2 zunimmt, während die Werte der Izod-Schlagfestigkeit
ohne Kerbe unbeeinflußt erscheinen. Die Biegeempfindlichkeit
und der Biegemodul scheinen beide zuzunehmen, wenn der molare Prozentgehalt an IPCl2 zunimmt.
Die Proben mit einem Gehalt an 9 Gew.-^ Glas zeigen eine
allgemeine Abnahme der Izod-Kerbschlagfestigkeit und Izod-Schlagfestigkeit
ohne Kerbe, jedoch eine allgemeine Zunahme der Biegeempfindlichkeit und des Biegemoduls, wenn der Prozentgehalt
an IPCl2 zunimmt.

Beispiel 3: Polymerisation von Polyestercarbonat unter Verwendung
von Terephthalsäuredichlorid:
In ein Reafctionsgefäß von 37,85 1 (10 gal) setzte man 1824 g
(8 Mol) BPA, 7 1 Methylenchlorid, 5,5 1 Wasser, 28 ml (2 Triäthylamin als Katalysator und 3,4- g Natriumgluconat ein.
Bei einem pH-Wert von 9 bis 10 gab man 4-06 g (2 Mol) Terephthalsäuredichlorid
(TPClg) in 1,5 1 Methylenchlorid innerhalb
eines Zeitraums von 9 min zu, während man den pH-Wert mit
35 $-iger wässeriger kaustischer Lösung regelte. Phenol (28,23 g, 3 Mol-$) gab man zu, erniedrigte den pH-Wert auf 5 bis 6 und
führte danach Phosgen bei einer Rate von 36 g/min 5 min lang
zu. Den pH-Wert stellte man auf 11 ein und setzte die Phosgenierung bei einer Rate von 36 g/min 18 min lang fort, während

Beispiel 4: Physikalische Eigenschaften von Polyester/Carbonat-Mischpolymeren,
bei denen man verschiedene Mengen an Terephthalsäuredichlorid und Kettenabbrecher
verwendet hatte:
Indem man der Methode von Beispiel 2 folgte, erhielt man die physikalischen Eigenschaften des auf TPClg-beruhenden PoIyester/Carbonat-Mischpolymeren
von Beispiel 3; die Ergebnisse sind in der nachstehenden Tabelle III gezeigt, worin die
Proben M1 und R1 9 Gew.-# Glasfüllstoff enthielten.
Die Ergebnisse in Tabelle III zeigen, daß die DTUL im allgemeinen
bei einem Anstieg der TPOlg-Konzentration zunimmt. Die
Parbstabilität (YI) scheint sich bei einem Anstieg des
Schmelzindexes (MI) zu verschlechtern, während die Schlagfestigkeiten
sich bei niedrigeren TPCl^-Konzentrationen zu
verbessern scheinen. Die Zugabe von 9 Gew.-^ Glasfüllstoff
scheint die DTüL-Werte zu verbessern, beeinflußt jedoch nach-

Ferner wiesen Polyester/Carbonat-Mischpolymere, die man aus TPCl2 hergestellt hatte, im allgemeinen höhere Molekulargewichte
auf als jene, die man aus Isophthalsäuredichlorid
(IPGl2) hergestellt hatte (Tabelle I).
Beispiel 5: Vergleich der Polyester/Carbonat-Mischpolymeren,
die man aus Isophthalsäuredichlorid (IPCl2) bzw.
Terephthalsäuredichlorid (TPCl2) hergestellt hatte;
Die DTUL-Eigenschaften bei verschiedenem Molekulargewicht
verschiedener Polyester/Carbonat-Mischpolymerer, die man aus
Isophthalsäuredichlorid (IPCl2) wie in Beispiel 2 hergestellt
hatte, verglich man mit jenen, die man aus Terephthalsäuredichlorid
(TPCl2) wie in Beispiel 4- hergestellt hatte. Die
Ergebnisse sind in der nachstehenden Tabelle IV gezeigt, worin die Probe, die als "Vergleich" bezeichnet ist, weder IPCl2
noch TPCl2 enthielt.
Die Ergebnisse von Tabelle IV zeigen, daß die DTUL-Werte im
allgemeinen bei steigenden Konzentrationen von entweder Isophthalsäuredichlorid
(IPCl2) oder Terephthalsäuredichlorid
(TPCl2) ansteigen.
Beispiel 6: Polymerisation von Polyester/Carbonat-Mischpolymeren
unter Verwendung einer Mischung von Isophthalsäuredichlorid und Terephthalsäuredichlorid:
In ein Reaktionsgefäß von 37,85 1 (10 gal) setzte man 1712 g
(7,5 Mol) BPA, 7 1 Methylenchlorid, 5,5 1 Wasser, 28 ml (2 Mol-$) Triäthylamin als Katalysator und 3,4 g Uatriumgluconat
ein. Bei einem pH-Wert von 9 bis 10 gab man 426,3 g (2,1 Mol) Isophthalsäuredichlorid (IPCl2) und 81,2 g (0,4 Mol)
Terephthalsäuredichlorid (TPCl2) in 1 1 Methylenchlorid innerhalb
eines Zeitraums von 4 min zu, während man den pH-Wert mit 35 $-iger wässeriger kaustischer Lösung regelte. Man gab

die Phosgenierung bei einer Rate von 36 g/min 19 min lang fort, während man den pH-Wert bei 11 mit 35 $-iger wässeriger
kaustischer Lösung hielt. Die lösung verdünnte man mit 3 Methylenchlorid, arbeitete auf übliche Weise auf und erzielte
ein weißes Pulver. Das Harz stabilisierte man wie im genannten Beispiel 1.
Man folgte der Methode von Beispiel 6 und stellte verschiedene Polyester/Carbonat-Mischpolymere her, die eine Mischung von
IPCl2 und TPCl2 enthielten, wobei das molare Verhältnis von
IPC12:TPC12 von 100:0 bis 0:100 variierte, während man die
molare Konzentration der Summe von IPCl2ZiDPCl2 bei 25/75
konstant hielt. Proben dieser IPClg/TPClg-Polyester/Carbonat-Mischpolymeren
erhielt man gemäß der Methode von Beispiel Die physikalischen Eigenschaften dieser Proben bestimmte man,
und die erhaltenen Ergebnisse sind in der nachstehenden Tabelle V gezeigt.
Man folgte der gleichen Methode wie in Beispiel 7 zur Bestimmung der physikalischen Eigenschaften weiterer Proben
von Polyester/Carbonat-Mischpolymeren, die eine Mischung von IPCl2 und TPCl2 und eine konstante Menge von 3 $ Kettenabbrecher
enthielten, mit der Ausnahme, daß man sowohl die molaren Verhältnisse als auch die molaren Konzentrationen
von IPCIp und TPCl2 variierte. Die Ergebnisse sind in der
nachstehenden Tabelle VI gezeigt.

Die Ergebnisse der Tabellen V und VI zeigen, daß bei einem Anstieg der DTUL-Werte um 4 °C (7 0F)* der bei einer Veränderung
des molaren Verhältnisses von IPClpiTPClo von 100:0
zu 0;100 eintritt, der Schmelzindex um das etwa 3,5-fache
ansteigt ο Wenn das molare Verhältnis von IPCIp:TPClp größer
als 7O;3O ist, steigt der DTUL-Wert nur um 1,7 0C (3 0P) an,
jedoch der Schmelzindex erhöht sich um das 2,3-fache. Wenn andererseits das molare Verhältnis von IPCIp:TPClp geringer
als 7O;3O ist, steigt der Schmelzindex nur um das 1,5-feche
bei einem gleichzeitigen Anstieg des DTUL-Wertes von 1,7 0C
(3 0P) an.
Aus den Beispielen ist ersichtlich, daß man Polyester/Carbonat-Mischpolymere
mit dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren derart herstellen kann, daß sie die gewünschten physikalischen
Eigenschaften aufweisen. Das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren ermöglicht vorallem, diese Polyester/Carbonat-Mischpolymeren
wirtschaftlicher und schneller als mit den Herstellungsmethoden des Standes der Technik herzustellen.

Claims (18)
1. Verfahren zur Herstellung von Polyester/Oarbonat-Mischpolymeren,
dadurch gekennzeichnet , daß man
a) in einem Lösungsmittelsystem bei einem ersten pH-Niveau von etwa 9 bis 12 ein zweiwertiges Phenol, ein Säuredichlorid
und Phenol umsetzt und ein Reaktionsmedium bildet, wobei das
molare Verhältnis des zweiwertigen Phenols zum Säuredichlorid im Bereich von etwa 90:10 bis 55:4-5 liegt;
b) einen Kettenabbrecher zu dem Reaktionsmedium zugibt;
c) den pH-Wert des Reaktionsmediums auf ein zweites pH-Niveau
von etwa 4 bis 7 einstellt;
d) eine Carbonatvorstufe zu dem Reaktionsmedium zugibt;
e) den pH-Wert des Reaktionsmediums auf ein drittes pH-Niveau von etwa 9 bis 12 einstellt;
f) die Zugabe der Carbonatvorstufe bis zur Beendigung der Reaktion fortsetzt; und
g) aus dem Lösungsmittelsystem ein Polyester/Carbonat-Mischpolymeres
gewinnt.
2. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man als Lösungsmittelsystem ein inertes wässeriges System
verwendet, das einen organischen Bestandteil enthält.

3. Verfahren nach Anspruch 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß
man als organischen Bestandteil Methylenchlorid, Chlorbenzol, Cyclohexanon oder Tetrachlorkohlenstoff verwendet.
4. Verfahren nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man Bisphenol-A als zweiwertiges Phenol
verwendet.
5. Verfahren nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, dadurch
gekennzeichnet, daß man als Säuredichlorid eine Verbindung verwendet, die man aus der aus Isophthalsäuredichlorid, Terephthalsäuredichlorid
und Mischungen davon bestehenden Gruppe ausgewählt hat.
6. Verfahren nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man ein molares Verhältnis im Bereich von
etwa 85:15 bis 70:50 anwendet.
7. Verfahren nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man Phenol als Kettenabbrecher verwendet.
8. Verfahren nach Anspruch 7f dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß
man das Phenol in einer Menge von etwa 2 bis 4 Mol-$ zugibt.
9. Verfahren nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man Phosgen als Carbonatvorstufe verwendet.
10. Verfahren nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, dadurch
gekennzeichnet, daß man ein erstes bzw. drittes pH-Niveau von etwa 10 bis 11 und ein zweites pH-Niveau von etwa 5 bis 6 anwendet.
11. Verfahren nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man eine Reaktionszeit auf dem ersten pH-Niveau
von etwa 10 bis 15 min, eine Reaktionszeit auf dem zweiten ρΉ-Niveau von etwa 4 bis 8 min und eine Reaktionszeit
auf dem dritten pH-Niveau von etwa 15 bis 25 min anwendet.

12. Verfahren zur Herstellung von P lyester/Carbonat-Mischpolymeren
nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man
a) in einem inerten wässerigen Lösungsmittelsystem mit einem Gehalt an einem organischen Bestandteil bei einem ersten
pH-Nivau von etwa 9 bis 12 ein zweiwertiges Phenol, ein Säuredichlorid
und Phenol umsetzt und ein Reaktionsmedium bildet,
wobei man das Säuredichlorid aus der aus IsophthaIsäuredichlor
id, Terephthalsäuredichlorid und Mischungen davon bestehenden
Gruppe ausgewählt hat und das molare Verhältnis des zweiwertigen Phenols zum Säuredichlorid im Bereich von etwa
90:10 bis 55:45 liegt;
b) einen Kettenabbrecher zu dem Reaktionsmedium in einer
Menge von etwa 2 bis 4 Mol-% zugibt;
c) den pH-Wert des Reaktionsmediums auf ein zweites pH-Niveau von etwa 4 bis 7 einstellt;
d) eine Oarbonatvorstufe zu dem Reaktionsmedium zugibt und
dessen pH-Wert auf ein drittes pH-Niveau von etwa 9 bis 12 einstellt;
e) die Zugabe der Carbonatvorstufe bis zur Beendigung der Reaktion fortsetzt; und
f) aus dem Lösungsmittelsystem ein Polyester/Carbonat-Mischpolymeres
gewinnt.
13. Verfahren nach Anspruch 12, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man Methylenchlorid als organischen Bestandteil im Lösungsmittelsystem
verwendet.
14. Verfahren nach Anspruch 12 oder 13, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß man Bisphenol-A als zweiwertiges Phenol verwendet.
15. Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 12 bis 14, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man ein molares Verhältnis im Bereich von
etwa 85:15 bis 70:30 anwendet.
16. Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 12 bis 15, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man Phenol als Kettenabbrecher verwendet

17. Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 12 bis 16, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man ein erstes und drittes pH-Niveau von
etwa 10 bis 11 und ein zweites pH-Niveau von etwa 5 bis 6 anwendet.
18. Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 12 bis 17, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß mau eine Reaktionszeit auf dem ersten
pH-Niveau von etwa 10 bis 15 min, eine Reaktionszeit auf dem zweiten pH-Niveau von etwa 4 bis 8 min und eine Reaktionszeit
auf dem dritten pH-Nivau von etwa 15 bis 25 min anwendet.
