Abstract
Description
Summary A polyamide resin composition is provided which Contains melamine cyanurate and possibly a copper compound, an alkali metal halide, a tin compound, a bisamide compound or a bisureido compound.
The invention relates to a polyamide resin composition. In particular concerns the invention describes a polyamide resin composition excellent in appearance and good flame retardancy properties.
The addition of Melamine proposed (Japanese patent application No. 1714/1972); as well as the addition of Cyanuric acid (US Pat. No. 3,980,616) and the addition of both melamine and cyanuric acid (U.S. Patent 4,001,177).
In the case of the addition of melamine, a satisfactory flame retardant finish is achieved not without the addition of 10 and more parts by weight or more of melamine to 100 parts by weight of the polyamide resin. The melamine sublimes under the molding conditions and is deposited on the mold.
Diese Erscheinung wird als Ausplattung bezeichnet. This phenomenon is called flattening.
This leads to unwanted peeling or staining of the molded body. The melamine or decomposed material will bleed to the surface of the molded body with aging of the same during a long period of time. This appearance is referred to as "efflorescence". Hence the appearance of the products obtained not satisfactory.
In the case of the addition of cyanuric acid, a flame retardant effect can already be achieved can be expected with the addition of smaller amounts of cyanuric acid compared to melamine. However, this has the disadvantage of reducing the mechanical properties of the molded body and significant efflorescence is observed.
In the case of adding both cyanuric acid and melamine, it is required 10 and more parts by weight or above of a mixture of melamine and cyanuric acid (1: 1) to 100 parts by weight of polyamide resin to use a satisfactory To achieve flame retardant finish. The flattening and the "efflorescence" are included also not small. The inventors have worked to solve the above problems deals.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a polyamide resin composition to create which shows satisfactory flame-retardant characteristics and is suitable for Manufacture of moldings is suitable and in particular neither for flattening nor for Efflorescence leads.
The above object of the invention is achieved by a polyamide resin composition dissolved, which contains melamine cyanurate in addition to the polyamide resin.

The melamine cyanurate used according to the invention is a reaction product the cyanuric acid and melamine, usually in a molar ratio of about 1: 1. For example, melamine cyanurate can be obtained by mixing an aqueous one Solution of cyanuric acid with an aqueous solution of melamine and implementation of the same at about 90 to 100 OC while stirring and filtering the formed Precipitation. The white solid is preferably pulverized into a fine powder. The melamine cyanurate which is commercially available can also be used with or without prior pulverization can be used. The amino group or the hydroxyl group the melamine cyanurate can be substituted with another substituent.
Melamine cyanurate behaves very differently from a mixture of Cyanuric acid and melamine. Infrared spectra of melamine cyanurate, Cyanuric acid and melamine made. These are shown in FIGS. 1, 2 and 3.
Melamine cyanurate is added to the polyamide resin in an amount of 1 to 20 wt .-% and preferably 3 to 15 wt .-% given. When the amount of melamine cyanurate is too low, the flame retardant effects are not satisfactory. When the crowd of the melamine cyanurate is too large, the mechanical properties are impaired.
The additives can be variously known to the polyamide resin Process are mixed in, in appropriate stages before the molding stage. The simplest method is to dry the additives to the polyamide resin to mix in. The dry mixed mass can then be used for the production of pellets be extruded in the melt. It is also possible to use mother pellets first by mixing large amounts of the additives into the polyamide resin and then mixing these mother pellets with the polyamide resin.
The moldings can be produced by fermenting the mixed Mass or pellets with the help of various molding machines, in particular injection molding machines, Extruding machines, pressing machines or the like. The incorporation of the additives can also done with the help of the molding machine. It is preferred to have the mass in the molding stage to a temperature below 270 OC and especially below 250 OC, to prevent decomposition of the flame retardant. The mass according to the invention reinforcing substances can be added, e.g. B. glass fibers or carbon fibers; Fillers, such as clay, silica, alumina, silica-alumina, Glass beads, asbestos, grayite, plaster and other additives, e.g. B. dyes, pigments, Stabilizers and antistatic agents.
