Description
Verfahren zum Herstellen eines dauermagnetisierbaren Materials und dauermagnetisierbares Material
Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Herstellen eines eisenhaltigen
dauermagnetisierbaren Materials, wobei Mischoxyde von Eisen aus einer LOsung niedergeschlagen werden.
In der deutschen Offenlegungsschrift 1 915 904 ist ein Verfahren beschrieben,
gemäss dem Mischungen oder Verbindungen hydratisierter Oxyde von Eisen
und anderen Elementen, v/ie z.B. Nickel und Kobalt, präzipitiert werden. Wie
dort erwähnt, .ist vorzugsweise von einer LOsung auszugehen, welche das Eisen in
zweiwertiger Form enthalt. Dreiwertiges Eisen ist bei einem pH-Wert von 2 bereits
vollständig ausgefallt, wahrend Nickel- und Kobalthydroxyd erst bei einem pH-Wert
von 6 die ersten Präzipitationsansatze zeigen. Zweiwertiges Eisen schlägt hingegen erst bei einem pH-Wert von 6 bis 7 nieder, so dass nur beim Niederschlag
dieses Hydroxyds andere Ionen, welche in diesem Bereich ausfällen, gleichzeitig prazipiert werden.
Obwohl dieses Verfahren ausgezeichnete Resultate zeigt, sind hiermit
•inige Nachteile verbunden. Erstens sei erwähnt, dass die prazipierten Verbin
dungen stark hydratisiert sind. Ein Abscheiden dieses Hydratationswassers ist
Vorbedingung für eine ausreichend starke Dauermagnetisierbarkeit des Materials.

Dies setzt allerdings Calcinierungstemperaturen von minimal 300 °C voraus.
Das anfallende Material ist meisten hochporös, wodurch es sich nur schwer zu Pulvern oder Körpern mit der erforderlichen hohen Konzentration an magnetisierbarein Material verarbeiten lässt. Zweitens kann eine Oxydation des zweiwertigen
Eisens zu dreiwertigem Eisen, die für die Anwendung als magnetisierbare Oxyde
erforderlich ist, Schwierigkeiten ergeben. Normalerweise tritt diese Oxydation bereits bei Zimmertemperatur wahrend der Abfiltrierung des ausgefällten
Materials auf. Bei gewissen Mischoxyden hat sich das zweiwertige Eisen stabilisiert, wordurch die Oxydation nur mühsam verläuft.
Das Präzipitieren von Eisenhydroxydteilchen mit NaOH aus einer Ferro-
und Ferri-Ionen enthaltenden Lösung kann als bekannt gelten. Die ausgefällten
Teilchen sind dabei aber fur eine magnetische Anwendung zu klein, so dass sie auf hydrothermalem Wege zu vergrössern sind (siehe Elmore W.C, Phys. Rev.
54, 309 (1938)).
Ferner ist es aus der schweizerischen Patentschrift 311.280 bekannt,
aus einer Lösung mit Ferro- und anderen Ionen, darunter ggf. auch Ferri-Ionen,
zuerst in alkalischem Medium Hydroxyde oder Carbonate zu fallen und diese, wenn nötig, zur dreiwertigen Form zu oxydieren. Mit diesem Verfahren sind
ahnliche Nachteile wie mit dem Verfahren aus der deutschen Offenlegungsschrift
1,915.904 verbunden, so dass eine Calcinierung bei Temperaturen bis zu 900 C
erforderlich ist.
GemBss der vorliegenden Erfindung werden das Eisen und ggf. ein oder
mehrere andere Metalle, welche in zweiwertiger Form in einer maximal der Hälfte der Eisenmenge entsprechenden atomaren Menge vorhanden sind, unter Ruhren coprftzipitiert, indem man einen Teil der zweiwertigen Eisenionen bei einem zwischen
2 und 6,5 eingestellten pH-Wert unter Überwachung und Steuerung der Temperatur
langsam und homogen mit einer mittleren Geschwindigkeit von maximal 0,3 g
Atomen je Liter Lösung in der Stunde in die dreiwertige Form umsetzt, woraufhin das Prazipitat von der Flüssigkeit getrennt, gewaschen und getrocknet und das
so erhaltene Material dann nötigenfalls einer weiteren thermischen Behandlung unterzogen wird. Diese thermische Behandlung kann aus Calcinieren und einer
ggf. volligen oder teilweisen Reduktion des ausgefällten Materials bestehen.
Qemftss der Erfindung lMsst sich das Ilsen durch die Anwesenheit von
Nitrationen in der Lösung, vorzugsweise von Ammoniumnitrat, unter-Anwendung
einer Über der Zimmertemperatur gelegenen Temperatur von der dreiwertigen in
die dreiwertige Form bringen. Is sei aber ausdrücklich betont, dass die Erfindung

Bedient man sich eines Nitrats als Oxydationsmittel, so wird bei einer Temperatur oberhalb der Zimmertemperatur nachfolgende Reaktion eingeleitet:

Die langsam und homogen in der Lösung gebildeten Ferri-Ionen reagieren
jetzt mit zweiwertigen Metallionen (M ) gemäss der Reaktion:
M2+ + 2 Fe9+ + 4 H-O —>->
MO . Fe 0 + 3 H+
Als zweiwertiges Metall kann an erster Stelle das Ferro-Ion selbst
benutzt werden; in diesem Fall schlägt FeO · Fe 2°3 = Fe^°4 (Magnetit) nieder.
Auch dies ist unter Koprazipitation zu verstehen.
Vorzugsweise werden mit Rücksicht auf die gewünschten magnetischen
Eigenschaften andere zweiwertige Ionen, worunter Nickel, Kobalt, Zink, Mangan,
Kupfer, Magnesium und Barium fallen, mit dem Eisen kopräzipitiert. Die Präzipitation
wird unter Steuerung der Temperatur so lange fortgeführt, bis die
vorhandenen Metallionen in der gewünschten Menge niedergeschlagen sind. Die
chemische Zusammensetzung des herzustellenden Koprazipitats ist durch die in
der Ausgangslösung anwesenden Metalle, darunter Eisen, und durch deren Molekular-•
Verhältnisse, welche wiederum von den gewünschten magnetischen Eigenschaften
abhangig sind, bedingt.
Wichtig ist, dass wahrend des Fallungsvorganges der pH-Wert unbedingt
zwischen 2 und 6,5 zu halten ist. Zu diesem Zweck müssen die bei den Reaktionen
frei werdenden Wasserstoffionen nötigenfalls neutralisiert werden. Es kann dazu
eine alkalische Lösung von Soda, Natriumbicarbonat, Ammoniak oder ähnlichen Stoffen unter die Oberflache der Lösung eingespritzt werden. Die Einstellung
des pH-Wertes, auf einen konstanten Wert kann gegebenenfalls auch mit Hilfe
eines pH-Messgerätes erfolgen. ' " .
Unter dem Begriff 'Einspritzen' ist hier ein solcher Vorgang zu verstehen,
bei dem die alkalische Lösung mit der reagierenden Lösung in Kontakt
gebracht wird, ohne dass sich" eine andere Phase in nächster Nähe befindet.
Auch kann vor oder wahrend der Prazipitation Harnstoff mit der Lösung
vermischt werden. Durch eine langsame Hydrolyse des Harnstoffes zu Ammoniumcarbonat
werden Carbonationen in die Lösung eingebracht, welche die Wasserstoffionen
gemäss der folgenden Reaktion beseitigen: .

Die Einstellung des pH-Wertes auf den richtigen Sollwert erfolgt, wenn sie am Anfang der Prazipitation stattfinden soll, vorzugsweise mit Salpetersäure.
Diese Säure lässt, ebenso wie das Ammoniumnitrat, der Harnstoff oder die Ammoniaklösung, keine Fremdstoffe in dem herzustellenden dauermagnetisierbaren
Material zurllck.
Es ist auch ein Verfahren beschrieben, bei dem gleichfalls von einer
wässrigen Lösung ausgegangen wird, welche Ferro-Ionen und eine Art von anderen
zweiwertigen Metallionen in minimaler Menge enthält, und zwar in einem Atom-Verhaltnis
zwischen Ferro-Ionen und Metallionen von 2:1. Der Metallsalzlösung mit einem pH-Wert vorzugsweise unter 3 wird ein alkalischer Stoff zugemischt,
wodurch der pH-Wert auf minimal 6,5 gebracht wird. Das anfallende Präzipitat
einer Ferroverbindung wird anschliessend im gleichen Medium mit einem oxydierenden
Gas oxydiert. Dazu lässt man Luft durch die Flüssigkeit emporsprudeln.
Infolge der heterogenen Verteilung der Luft in der Flüssigkeit lässt sich bei
Anwendung in grosstechnischem Massstab nicht vermeiden, dass sich aus der bereits
gebildeten Ferroverbindung mehr oder weniger grosse hydratisierte Ferrioxyd-Fraktionen
bilden, und zwar auch dann, wenn bei höherer Temperatur gearbeitet wird. Dieser Nachteil wird beim Verfahren gemäss der vorliegenden Erfindung
völlig vermieden; sowohl die Prazipitation, welche in einem Medium mit
genau eingestelltem Säuregrad erfolgt, wie die Oxydation finden von der homogenen
Flussigkeitsphase aus statt.
Das gemäss der vorliegenden Erfindung hergestellte dauermagnetisierbare
Material ist anwendbar auf Bändern oder Platten oder an Drähten zur magnetischen
Speicherung und Wiedergabe von Informationen oder lässt sich zu ggf. mit Kunststoff
verkitteten Formkörpern mit dauermagnet!sehen Eigenschaften weiterverarbeiten.
Die Erfindung wird an Hand eines Beispiels weiter erläutert.
In 3 Liter Wasser werden 130 g Harnstoff und 20 g NH.NO0 gelöst.
Diese Lösung wird zum Entfernen gelösten Sauerstoffs ausgekocht und unter Stickstoff gekühlt. Der pH-Wert der Lösung wird mit Hilfe von Salpetersäure auf
2 eingestellt. Anschließend werden 24,3 g Co(NO„)0 , 6 iq (S g Kobalt) und
575 ail einer 42,5 g Firon enthaltenden Ferrochloridlösung beigegeben, worauf
die Lösung unter kralligem Rühren auf 100 0C erhitzt wird. Nach 70 stundigem
Erhitzen bildet sich ein schwarzes Präzipitat mit einem pH-Wert von 5,S.

Die mittlere Oxydationsgeschwindigkeit des zweiwertigen.Eisens entsprach

Das so erhaltene Prazipitat lasst sich sehr schnell abfiltrieren und
mühelos auswaschen; das Filtrat enthalt nur sehr wenig Eisen.
Nach Trocknung bei 120 °C zeigt .das Pulver ein Röntgenbeugungsbild
entsprechend dem von Magnetit (Fe 0 ). Die Verbreiterung der Linien deutet

Das zu 120 C getrocknete Pulver wird nach Vermischung mit einer

Losung von 20 Gew.-% Polyurethan in Dimethylformamid auf einen Polyesterfilm
ausgestrichen. Der Pulveranteil im Lack betragt 80 Gew.-%. An einer Pakkung
von 32 Bändchen aus einer auf diese Weise .erhaltenen Folie wird die in der beigefügten
Zeichnung dargestellte Hystereseschleife gemessen. Die maximale Feldstärke
ist 1500 Oe, die Koerzitivkraft etwa 350 Oe.

Claims (5)
1. Verfahren zum Herstellen eines eisenhaltigen dauermagnetisierbaren Materials,
wobei Mischoxyde von Eisen aus einer Losung niedergeschlagen werden, dadurch
gekennzeichnet, dass das Eisen und ggf. ein oder mehrere andere Metalle, welche in zweiwertiger Form in einer maximal der Hälft der Eisenmenge entsprechenden atomaren Menge vorhanden sind, unter Rühren coprazipitiert
werden, indem man einen Teil der zweiwertigen Eisenionen bei einem zwischen
2 und 6,5 eingestellten pH-Wert unter Überwachung und Steuerung der Temperatur
langsam und homogen mit einer mittleren Geschwindigkeit von maximal 0,3 g Atomen je Liter Losung in der Stunde in die dreiwertige Form umsetzt, woraufhin
das Prazipitat von der Flüssigkeit getrennt, gewaschen und getrocknet und
das so erhaltene Material dann nötigenfalls einer weiteren thermischen Behandlung unterzogen wird.
2. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das Eisen durch
Anwesenheit von Nitrationen, vorzugsweise von Ammoniumnitrat, in der Lösung
bei einer standig herrschenden, die Zimmertemperatur Übersteigenden Temperatur von der zweiwertigen in die dreiwertige Form gebracht wird.
3. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der pH-Wert
durch unter die Oberfläche der Lösung Einspritzen einer alkalischen Lösung,
wie einer Lösung von Soda, Natriumbicarbonat oder Ammoniak, wehrend des
Präzipitationsvorganges auf einem Wert zwischen 2 und 6,5 gehalten wird.
4. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass nit der Lösung
vor oder während der Precipitation Harnstoff vermischt wird.
5. Dauermagnetisierbares Material, das aus Mischoxyden von Eisen und ggf.
anderen Metallen in dreiwertiger Form besteht.
