Description
Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Herstellen eines dauermagnetisierbaren Eisen-Mischoxids.
Es ist bekannt, daß Eisen-Mischoxide hergestellt werden können durch Ausfällung von Eisenhydroxidteilchen
mit NaOH aus einer Ferro- und Ferriionen enthaltenden wäßrigen Lösung. Die dabei ausgefällten
Teilchen sind aber für die Dauermagnetisierung zu klein, so daß sie zuerst auf hydrothermalem Wege vergrößert
werden müssen (vgl. W. C. Elmore, »Phys. Rev.«, 54,309
(1938)). Aus der schweizer Patentschrift 3 11 280 ist es
ferner bekannt, Eisen-Mischoxide herzustellen durch Ausfällung der Hydroxide oder Carbonate aus einer
Ferro-Ionen und andere Ionen, gegebenenfalls auch Ferri-Ionen, enthaltenden Lösung in einem alkalischen
Medium, die erforderlichenfalls anschließend durch Oxydation in die dreiwertige Form überführt werden.
Dieses Verfahren hat jedoch den Nachteil, daß die ausgefällten Verbindungen stark hydratisiert sind. Um
solchen Materialien eine ausreichend starke Dauermagnetisierbarkeit zu verleihen, muß das Hydrationswasser
zuerst entfernt werden, was Calcinierungstemperaturen von mindestens 3000C voraussetzt. Das dabei
anfallende Material ist dann meistens hochporös, so daß es sich nur schwer zu Pulvern oder Körpern mit der
erforderlichen hohen Konzentration an dauermagnet!- sierbarem Material verarbeiten läßt.
In dem Hauptpatent 19 15 904.7 ist ein Verfahren zum
Herstellen eines dauermagnetisierbaren, durch Fällung aus einer wäßrigen Lösung gebildeten Eisen-Mischoxids
beschrieben, bei dem man die wäßrige Lösung eines Ferrosalzes und mindestens eines anderen Metallsalzes
in Abwesenheit von Oxydationsmitteln unter intensivem Rühren mit gelöstem Harnstoff bei einem pH-Wert
von etwa 5 zusammenbringt, die Mischung erhitzt, die sich bildende Ausfällung an der Luft von der Flüssigkeit
trennt, wäscht und trocknet und gegebenenfalls einer Wärmebehandlung unterwirft.
Dieses Verfahren liefert zwar ausgezeichnete dauermagnetisierbare Eisen-Mischoxide, die Oxydation des
dabei eingesetzten zweiwertigen Eisens zu dreiwertigem Eisen, die für die Herstellung von dauermagnetisierbaren
Eisen-Mischoxiden erforderlich ist, kann jedoch zuweilen zu Schwierigkeiten führen. Normaler
25 weise tritt diese Oxydation bereits bei Zimmertemperatur
während des Abfiltrierens des ausgefällten Materials auf, bei bestimmten Eisen-Mischoxiden hat sich jedoch
das zweiwertige Eisen stabilisiert, so daß die Oxydation nur mühsam verläuft.
Diese Mängel des in dem Hauptpatent 19 15 904.7 beschriebenen Verfahrens zum Herstellen eines dauermagnetisierbaren
Eisen-Mischoxids werden erfindungsgemäß nun dadurch beseitigt, daß man die zweiwertigen
Eisenionen bei einem zwischen 2 und 6,5 eingestellten
pH-Wert mit einer mittleren Geschwindigkeit von maximal 03 g-Atomen je Liter Lösung in der Stunde in
die dreiwertige Form umsetzt
Damit ist es erfindungsgemäß möglich, die vorgenannten Schwierigkeiten bei der Oxydation von
zweiwertigem Eisen zu dreiwertigem Eisen auf wirksame Weise zu beseitigen.
Bei der praktischen Durchführung des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens werden das Eisen und ein oder
mehrere andere Metalle, die in zweiwertiger Form in einer wäßrigen Lösung vorliegen, unter Rühren
gemeinsam ausgefällt, indem man die zweiwertigen Eisenionen bei einem zwischen 2 und 6,5 eingestellten
pH-Wert unter Überwachung und Steuerung der Temperatur langsam und homogen mit einer mittleren
Geschwindigkeit von maximal 0,3 g-Atomen je Liter Lösung in der Stunde in die dreiwertige Form überführt,
wonach der Niederschlag von der Flüssigkeit getrennt, gewaschen, getrocknet und das dabei erhaltene Material
gegebenenfalls einer Wärmebehandlung unterzogen wird. Bei dieser Wärmebehandlung kann es sich um ein
Calcinieren oder um eine vollständige oder teilweise Reduktion des ausgefällten Materials handeln.
Man führt die Oxydation der zweiwertigen Eisenionen zu dreiwertigen Eisenionen in Gegenwart von
Nitrationen, insbesondere in Gegenwart von Ammoniumnitrat, oder Halogenoxysäuren, in der Lösung durch.
Die in der Lösung langsam und.homogen entstehenden dreiwertigen Eisenionen reagieren dann mit den darin
ebenfalls enthaltenen zweiwertigen Metallionen, wie z. B. zweiwertigen Eisenionen, unter Bildung eines
Mischoxids nach der Gleichung:

worin M ein zweiwertiges Metallion darstellt. Wenn es
sich bei M2+ um Fe24 handelt, erhält man als
Endprodukt FeO · Fe^Oj = Fe]O4,d. h. Magnetit.
In Abhängigkeit von den gewünschten magnetischen Eigenschaften des Eisen-Mischoxids werden vorzugsweise
gemeinsam mit dem Eisen andere zweiwertige Metallionen, wie z. B. Nickel-, Kobalt-, Zink-, Mangan-,
Kupfer-, Magnesium- und Bariumionen ausgefällt. Die gemeinsame Ausfällung wird unter Steuerung der
Temperatur so lange fortgesetzt, bis die vorhandenen Metallionen in der gewünschten Menge ausgefällt
worden sind. Die chemische Zusammensetzung des dabei erhaltenen Copräzipitats hängt ab von den in der
Ausgangslösung enthaltenen Metallionen und deren Mengenverhältnissen, die wiederum einen Einfluß auf
die gewünschten magnetischen Eigenschaften des Endproduktes haben.
Wesentlich bei der Durchführung des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens ist es, daß der Fällungsvorgang und
die Oxydation der zweiwertigen Eisenionen zu dreiwertigen Eisenionen bei einem pH-Wert durchgeführt
werden, der zwischen 2 und 6,5 gehalten werden muß. Zu diesem Zweck müssen die bei der Umsetzung frei
werdenden Wasserstoffionen erforderlichenfalls neutralisiert werden. Dies kann durch Einführung einer
alkalischen Lösung von Soda, Natriumbicarbonat oder
Ammoniak unter die Oberfläche der l-ösung bewerkstelligt
werden. Die Einstellung des pH-Wertes auf einen konstanten Wert kann gegebenenfalls auch unter
Zuhilfenahme eines pH-Meßgerätes durchgeführt werden. Außerdem trägt der in der Lösung enthaltene
Harnstoff durch die langsame Hydrolyse des Harnstoffs zu Ammoniumcarbonat zu der gewünschten pH-Werteinstellung
bei, da die in der Lösung entstehenden Carbonationen Wasserstoffionen nach der folgenden
Reaktionsgleichung binden:

Die Einstellung des pH-Wertes auf den richtigen Sollwert erfolgt, wenn sie zu Beginn der Ausfällung
durchgeführt werden soll, vorzugsweise mit Salpetersäure. Diese Säure läßt ebenso wie Ammoniumnitrat,
Harnstoff oder eine Ammoniaklösung keine Fremdstoffe in dem herzustellenden dauermagnetisierbaren
Eisen-Mischoxid zurück.
Das nach dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren erhältliche dauermagnetisierbare Material ist verwendbar auf
Bändern oder Platten oder an Drähten zur magnetischen Speicherung und Wiedergabe von Informationen,
außerdem läßt es sich zu gegebenenfalls mit Kunststoff verkitteten Formkörpern mit dauermagnetischen
Eigenschaften verarbeiten.
Die Erfindung wird durch das folgende Beispiel näher erläutert.
Herstellung eines dauermagnetisierbaren
Kobaltoxid-Eisenoxidpulvers
Kobaltoxid-Eisenoxidpulvers
In 31 Wasser werden 130 g Harnstoff und 20 g
NH4NO3 gelöst Diese Lösung wird zum Entfernen von gelöstem Sauerstoff ausgekocht und unter Stickstoff
gekühlt Der pH-Wert der Lösung wird unter Verwendung von Salpetersäure auf 2 eingestellt.
Anschließend werden 24,3 g Co(NO3^ · 6H2O (5 g
Kobalt) und 575 ml einer 42,5 g Eisen enthaltenden Ferrochloridlösung zugegeben, worauf die Lösung
unter kräftigem Rühren auf 100°C erhitzt wird. Nach 70stündigem Erhitzen entsteht ein schwarzer Niederschlag
mit einem pH-Wert von 5,8. Die mittlere Oxydationsgeschwindigkeit des zweiwertigen Eisens zu
dreiwertigem Eisen betrug in diesem Falle 3 · ΙΟ-3
g-Atome je Liter Lösung und pro Stunde.
Der erhaltene Niederschlag läßt sich sehr schnell abfiltrieren und mühelos auswaschen. Das Filtrat enthält
nur noch sehr wenig Eisen. Nach dem Trocknen bei 1200C zeigt das Pulver ein Magnetit (Fe3O4) entsprechendes
Röntgenbeugungsbild. Die Verbreiterung der Linien deutet auf eine Teilchenabmessung von etwa
1000 Ä-Einheiten hin.
Das bei 120° C getrocknete Pulver wird nach dem
Vermischen mit einer Lösung von 20 Gew.-% Polyurethan in Dimethylformamid auf einem Polyesterfilm
ausgestrichen. Der Pulveranteil in dem Lacküberzug beträgt 80 Gew.-%. An Hand einer Packung von 32
Bändchen aus einer auf diese Weise erhaltenen Folie wird die in der beiliegenden Zeichnung dargestellte
Hystereseschleife bestimmt. Die dabei angewendete maximale Feldstärke beträgt 1500Oe, die Koerzitivkraft
beträgt etwa 350 Oe.

Claims (1)
- Patentanspruch:Verfahren zum Herstellen eines dauermagnetisierbaren, durch Fällung aus einer wäßrigen Lösung gebildeten Eisen-Mischoxids, wobei man die wäßrige Lösung eines Ferrosalzes und mindestens eines anderen Metallsalzes in Abwesenheit von Sauers toi f unter intensivem Rühien mit gelöstem Harnstoff zusammenbringt, die Mischung erhitzt, die sich !0 bildende Ausfällung an der Luft von der Flüssigkeit trennt, wäscht und trocknet und gegebenenfalls einer Wärmebehandlung unterwirft, gemäß Patent 19 15904.7, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man bei der Ausfällung die zweiwertigen Eisenionen bei einem zwischen 2 und 6,5 eingestellten pH-Wert in Gegenwart von Nitrat- oder Halogenoxysäure-Ionen als Oxydationsmittel mit einer mittleren Geschwindigkeit von maximal 0,3 g Atomen je Liter Lösung in der Stunde in die dreiwertige Form umsetzt
