Description
KAISERLICHESIMPERIAL
PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.
Gloves that do not get their shape by cutting from pieces of fabric, i.e. the gloves made on the flat and round knitting machines, have hitherto been worked in such a way that one begins at the edge α b (Fig. I) of the handpiece - either with a rolled edge or with Double edge or by applying an elastic edge c or rubber band ■ -, then make the piece d and finally work on the thumb e and the other four fingers /. But working on the individual fingers is very time-consuming. This disadvantage is to be avoided by the new procedure. The same thing takes a different path: it begins with the fingers gh ik (Fig. 2) and the palm piece m and the thumb / are attached to them.
On Lamb's knitting machine, several fingers are formed, hanging from one another in a ribbon-like manner, for example the index finger g in such a way that its point is first worked closed. For this purpose the well-known network 0 (Fig. 3 and 4) is formed on both rows of needles mm 1 , then η is put on the job and worked on w 'only smooth rows o l o' 2 etc. up to o x (Figs. 5, 6 , 7 and 8), which you gradually narrower and then wider again by using the edge needles, e.g. B. r in Fig. 6, out and later in again, but which needles keep their stitches, just like when knitting the wedge heel in stockings. The rows o 1 o 2 to o x then form a sack-like piece of goods ρ (Fig. 8 and 9), similar to the wedge heel in a stocking, and that is the closed fingertip to which the index finger g (Fig 10). When the required length has been established, a particularly prominent separating row r is made of thin thread or long stitches; then the production of a second finger is begun by again placing the net 0 (Figs. 10, 11 and 12 ) for the next finger p 1. The row r is later cut through or drawn out to separate the fingers from each other . of the needle cylinder, whereupon the key cylinder (or needle cylinder) executes a circular movement for the purpose of knitting the hose Naturally only circular knitting machines of small diameter, corresponding to the finger width, can be used, or, as FIG. 13 shows, first the finger q and then the point ρ can be knitted like the well-known wedge-shaped point and then sewed together in 2 and 3. With round machines you have to use different machines for the fingers of different width.
Die "Handfläche ni (Fig. 14) wird nun rund ge-From the finger bands Now you cut each one Fingerg · hi and k off and attaches the finger using a Aufstofsvorrichtung to the rows of needles nn [the Lambschen knitting machine (Fig. 14), they DAF at the meeting points some eingestofsen succession depend, as always the palm of the hand is narrower than the sum of the finger widths. The "palm ni (Fig. 14) is now rounded
Der Daumen / wird dann als fertiges Stück ebenfalls vom Bande abgeschnitten, bei 4, 5 eingenäht oder durch Aufstofsen von 4, 5 in gewöhnlicher Weise angestrickt.knit and at point 4, 5 (Fig. 2) a mark for the thumb hole made by one z. B. 4, 5 blasts off and starts fresh again or imposed a stitch in 4, 5 each and. later 4, 5 cut open and so on. You can then reduce the palm of your hand or you give any shape and bind off at the edge as a rolled edge or form a double edge or sew or chain on the elastic edge. The thumb / is then finished as Piece also cut off from the ribbon, sewn in at 4, 5 or by stiffening 4, 5 knitted in the usual way.
Claims (1)
Patent claim:
Process for the manufacture of gloves on the Lamb's knitting machine, characterized in that first glove fingers are worked as regular tubular goods, then the four upper fingers belonging to a glove are pushed next to each other on the two rows of needles of the knitting machine, and then the palm of the hand is pushed onto them as a tube with the formation of a mark for the thumb to be inserted and finally the thumb is inserted into the palm of the hand.
