Description
The invention relates to a method for producing castings using models made under the action of the poured melt pass into the gaseous state, with the model in a molding box of granular Molding material is surrounded. It also relates to a device for implementation this procedure.
There are already various methods of making castings known using models that can be gasified at higher temperatures. These procedures are summarized under the term full mold casting and have the same characteristic on that the model is "eaten up" by the flowing melt, whereby the Casting speed is preferably set up so that cavities between the inflowing melt and the shrinking model are avoided as far as possible. For exact castings generally require the molding sand to solidify carefully or to be provided with binding agents. The use of binders is preferred, because the mechanical solidification of the loose molding sand, z. B. by shaking or Pounding, the mechanically less resistant models are easily damaged. To avoid this damage, it is particularly important to use loose Molding sand has increasingly moved on to the surface of the models with a finish to provide.
Although the full-mold casting process is now firmly established Has conquered place among the casting processes and in the production of large individual castings the most economical process at the moment, it could be with series and mass casting not enforce. The production of the models for each cast is more economical Possible, but requires the molding of the lost foam models more or less difficult manipulations to be carried out by hand that involve the Make serial casting unprofitable. The necessary finishing of the foam models also considerably hinders the gas permeability, which is just necessary for the casting after a lost foam model is important.
Also the well-known use of binder-free, free-flowing sand does not make it unnecessary to apply a coating to the model if you Choosing an economically viable molding material that does not cost a lot of money the recovery incurred.
There is a need for a simple and economical one Process for series and mass casting, in which manual work is largely eliminated and the tried and tested models made of gasifiable foam material despite their greening mechanical resistance can be used.
The method proposed according to the invention solves this problem in amazingly simple way. It concerns the manufacture of castings using of models made under the action of the poured melt in the gaseous Pass the state, with the model surrounded by granular molding material in a molding box is, and is characterized in that the molding material is first placed in a molding box with gas-permeable i base plate by blowing in compressed air od. The like. With generation of a fluidized bed, if necessary, loosened up to levitation and at the same time that Introduces the model, then solidifies the molding material by throttling the compressed air supply, the melt is poured in a known manner and the molding material to remove the cast loosened up again by supplying compressed air. The procedure is great for the series and mass casting as well as for the casting of individual pieces. It's the first time an economically viable embedding even of complexly shaped foam models into the molding material, regardless of the mechanical resistance lighter, thinner and models that tend to connect. The previously always required Manual work in the form of finishing the surface or applying finishing not applicable.
In contrast to the casting processes that have been customary up to now, the molding box initially filled with the granular molding material, which is preferably binder-free, however, in the case of large, especially tall castings, it can also contain binders. The model, for example made of foamed polystyrene, all of which are necessary for casting Auxiliary equipment, such as the gate, barrel and riser, is included after blowing the compressed air through the porous bottom plate of the molding box slowly up to the desired Place introduced into the loose fluidized bed of the molding material. Here is only one low pressure on the model required to avoid damage. The whirled up molding material washes around the model like a liquid. Still learns the model does not have any buoyancy when handled correctly. If the model is at the desired Place in the molding material has arrived, this is preferably done in stages Throttling of the compressed air solidified. With this throttling of the compressed air to complete Blocking the supply, the molding sand solidifies and embeds the model on all sides and evenly one.
After switching off the compressed air, the melt can be poured in immediately will. After the melt has solidified, the molding sand is blown in again whirled up by compressed air, and the casting can be easily removed.
It has proven to be particularly useful that the casting process can be repeated as often as required without changing the molding material. The procedure is thus suitable for the continuous implementation of a casting process, with the timing of the casting processes is based only on the cooling of the molding compound, because foam models are not used at temperatures above about 80 ° C if possible should be. By appropriate choice of the weight ratios of molding material and However, it is possible to achieve a medium temperature by swirling the casting, which allows a relatively short cycle of casting.
The method according to the invention enables large numbers of items, z. B. in the manufacture of mass-produced items such as brake drums for automobiles, extensive mechanization of the casting process. The compressed air line is useful with a valve operated by foot control to control the former has both hands free. It is possible that a caster has several devices can operate, which in turn increases the economic efficiency of the process will. In general, especially in the manufacture of small and medium-sized Work pieces, the use of loose molding sand is preferred. Particularly good results obtained with a highly refractory material, like zirconia or the like, or a loose sand enriched therewith as a molding material. The use these per se expensive materials are nevertheless in the method according to the invention economical, because the molding material is always recovered and without reconditioning is to continue to be used. Remove zirconium dioxide and a molding material enriched with it the risk of penetration feared in foundries. By saving conventional Sizing or their reduced use results in improved gas permeability during casting.
In the case of castings with large casting heights, about 300 mm, it is a good thing proven in the solidification of the loose molding material by turning off the compressed air supply additionally to bring about further solidification by applying a negative pressure. It is advisable to use a three-way valve, which is also the case in this case regulates the supply of compressed air. The negative pressure is also created by suction generated by air through the gas-permeable bottom of the molding box. Especially In stored cases it may also be necessary to use the effect of the vacuum to be supported for a short time by a conventional vibrator. This configuration too the method according to the invention enables the efficient production of mass casting.
If necessary, high gates can be used, which further cover the molding material Require over the casting, as well as lost sprues made of refractory material additionally molded into the top layer of the molding material at the entry point will.
The figure shows a preferred device for performing the method according to the invention.
The device is characterized by a molding box with gas-permeable Base plate, which with the help of flanges via a pressure equalization space with a Compressed air line and a three-way valve is connected. The molding box (1) for receiving the model is known per se Wisely designed, but according to the invention has a gas-permeable base plate (2) and is firmly connected to a pressure compensation chamber (3) by flanges (4), which distributes the compressed air flowing in through the pressure line (5) before it is pressed into the molding box (1). The three-way valve (6) is easy through To operate foot control. The molding box (1) with pressure equalization box (3) is suitably surrounded by a container (8) which is used to hold the during the whirling sprayed molding material is used. It is stored in a base (7) and can with Can be lifted off with the help of handles (9).
The device according to the invention can largely be the respective Requirements during casting are adapted, but it must always meet the requirements of the proposed procedure are sufficient. Except for the illustration shown therefore other constructions are also conceivable, those under the general described Invention ideas fall.
An embodiment of the device according to the invention is also expedient, which is particularly suitable for binder-containing molding material and which is characterized by it is that it consists of a pressure equalization chamber (3), which is permeable to gas Plate is covered. In this case, a simple molding box without a base plate is sufficient, which is lifted off after the molding material has started to solidify and onto the casting line is brought. The device is then free for the next molding box.
