Description
Photoelectric light meter with light beam limiter Photoelectric It is known that exposure meters are provided with a light beam limiter, to switch off unwanted secondary light and the photocell only that of the one to be recorded To supply the object or the light emanating from its immediate surroundings. For this Purpose one uses, for example, lens grids, bar grids, but also lenses or Lens louvre in conjunction with apertures. When dimensioning the beam limiter a compromise must be reached between two contradicting demands will. On the one hand, the aim is to supply the photocell with as much light as possible, in order to be able to use an insensitive, robust display instrument. this leads to this also means that light from objects outside the image scene is also used for the measurement will. On the other hand, the angle of inclination may be the same as that allowed by the beam limiter Light rays do not significantly exceed the angle of view of the lens, so no significant adulteration by backlighting or outside the scene located light source enters. The effect of the previously taken for this purpose Measures will be taken on the basis of FIG. 1 explains the light transmission of the Limiter reproduces as a function of the angle of inclination of the incident light rays. Curves for the angular distribution of the transmittance in the horizontal are shown and vertical direction, specifically for a specific technical embodiment with the critical angles a 1 and ß1 (curves 1) and for one that is often regarded as ideal Limiter (curves 2), the permeability of which within the image angles a, fl des Camera lens is 100%, but for larger angles it is zero. The figure is too the relative position of the image field 3 of the camera to that detected by the exposure meter Environment 4 can be seen. The known light meters are usually set up in such a way that that the image field 3 is approximately symmetrical within that used for exposure measurement Environment 4 is located.
Practice has shown that a transmission characteristic according to Art of the curves 2 in FIG. 1 by no means in all cases corresponds to the expectations Exposure of the picture guaranteed. A landscape scene in FIG. 2 is an example with and without a dark object in the foreground, e.g. B. a vehicle listed. Assume that there are two light meters I and II with transmission characteristics for the measurement according to curves 1 and 2 are available. Light meter I measures the one from the camera lens he- captured image scene 3 'including the surroundings 4', while light meter II responds to the picture scene alone. Without the dark vehicle, the light meters deliver I and II almost the same display, but with vehicle shows light meter II shows a lower measured value than I. With light meter I you can get a Achieve a correct tonal image of the landscape, whereby the dark vehicle is wrong is exposed, while the lower display of the light meter II becomes a Wrong exposure of the landscape, but to an improved reproduction of the vehicle leads. In cinematography in particular, one is now often interested in a fluctuating sound reproduction of the background with changing foreground avoid. For this application, exposure meter 1 is equivalent to exposure meter II preferable. It thus follows that in the exposure measurement on the participation the environment not only because of the better light-capturing ability of the light meter, but also with regard to constant exposure of the image background can be dispensed with.
On the other hand, examples of objects to be photographed can be given at which the environment can cause incorrect exposure, so that the degree of involvement the environment must by no means become too high. This is e.g. B. then the case. if there are strong light sources or the sun in the vicinity.
Incorrect exposures are therefore to be expected, especially with backlighting. if exposure meters with transmission curves corresponding to curves 1 and 2 according to FIG. 1 can be used. The known light meters often deliver when there is backlight too large a measured value, which leads to underexposure of the foreground or the parts of the image that are of interest.
One helps oneself in practice in many ways that one is backlit the aperture of the camera lens opens one step further than the display of the light meter is equivalent to. The user of the Light meter will also be multiple recommended to tilt the exposure meter downwards in bright skies in order to be able to take important pictures Measure parts of the foreground correctly. It stands to reason that these methods z. B. for film cameras or cameras with automatic aperture adjustment by the Exposure meters are no longer applicable. This is where the invention comes in. Of the Light beam limiter for light meters is designed so that the angle of the bundle of rays falling on the photocell - based on the preferably horizontal center line of the object section to be recorded, bounded asymmetrically is. without even partially blocking the light within this angle.
It is well known that the backlight enters the lens from above at an angle and is only effective up to the center of the image, usually only in the upper part of the image area. As a result, the beam limiter is designed so that its upper limit corresponds to a line between the preferably horizontal center line of the the object section to be recorded and the upper boundary parallel to it can also be placed in the upper part of the area around the section to be recorded. A light meter with a beam limiter of the specified type thus has the property, even with backlit pictures, still a perfect exposure to ensure image-important parts of the subject without losing the advantageous Properties of a light meter. who also uses light from the environment, to lose.
Derartige Strahlenbegrenzer besitzen eine Durchlaßcharakteristik gemäß Fig. 3. Fig. 3 a zeigt die Winkelverteilung des Durchlaßvermögens in horizontaler Richtung, F i g. 3 b in vertikaler Richtung, während F i g. 3 c die relative Lage des Bildfeldes 3 des Kameraobjektivs zum Durchlaßbereich 4 des Lichtbegrenzers wiedergibt. Such beam limiters have a transmission characteristic according to Fig. 3. Fig. 3a shows the angular distribution of the transmittance in the horizontal Direction, F i g. 3 b in the vertical direction, while F i g. 3 c the relative position of the image field 3 of the camera lens to the transmission area 4 of the light limiter. An essential feature of the invention is that shown in FIG. 3 b expressed Asymmetry. The condition 1SS <fl should preferably be maintained, i.e. That is, the upper edge of the light limiter's transmission area should be between the center of the image and the upper edge of the image (curve 1 in Fig. 3b). Within the meaning of the invention lies but also to partially take into account the upper part of the environment, whereby expediently the main drop in the transmission characteristic in the area between the center of the image and the upper edge of the image or near the upper edge of the image (curve 2 in FIG. 3 b). This can be achieved in that the bundle of rays within of the limiting angle is weakened so that the main drop in the transmission characteristic lies in the areas between the center of the image and the upper edge of the image.
Leave beam limiter with the suggested properties realize themselves in different ways. This is a particularly simple solution Bar grid, the F i g. 4 a in vertical section, F i g. 4 shows b in view. The bars, which are inclined in the vertical section, are denoted by 5, 6 is the photocell, the arrows 7 and 8 indicate two directions of incidence of the light.
Instead of a bar grid, one with cylindrical bores can also be used are used, the axes of which in the sense of the desired permeability teristics inclined are. In both cases, the raster disk expediently consists of a transparent one Material, preferably plastic, with optionally transparent webs, while the individual channels formed by the grid have light-absorbing surfaces. Light rays from the direction of the arrow 7 are the path to the photocell 6 blocked by the inclined grid surface, while rays from the direction of the arrow 8 up to a limit angle of inclination, which is also determined by the chosen design of the bar grid is set, the photocell can reach, so that the overall behavior this bar grid is described by a characteristic as shown in FIG is reproduced.
Such bar grids have in addition to the advantages mentioned from F i g. 1 2 obvious disadvantage that the permeability for the diagonally above incoming light rays only gradually decrease with increasing inclination angle. In In many cases a transmission capacity of the beam limiter is desired which is shown in Dependence of the angle of incidence about that from FIG. ii takes an apparent course.
This is applied to a transparent plate in the case of one Parallel prism grid in an embodiment of the invention achieved in that the Prism grid on the side of the photocell facing away from the incident light upstream beam limiter is arranged.
It is known to use prism grids to limit the rays (German patent specification 723 565). These prismatic disks lock in individual The incident bundle of rays. However, these areas are used by those overlap in which no total reflection occurs, so that the desired sharp separation cannot be achieved with it. The reason for this appearance lies in the fact that the prism grid is facing the incidence of light Side of the grid plate.
A beam limiter with the feature that the prism grid is is located on the side facing away from the incidence of light, is shown in FIG. 5 shown. It consists essentially of a transparent plastic plate 9 with on her The back of the embossed prismatic surfaces 10 and 11. The inclination of the surface 10 is like this chosen so that a beam incident from the direction of arrow 12 is totally reflected by it and on the surface 11 which is expediently covered with a light-absorbing material is absorbed. Less inclined rays experience no total reflection on the surface 10 and therefore hit the downstream photocell. The diagonally below in Incident rays in the direction of arrow 13 can also enter the grid unimpeded enforce and get to the photocell. This is how the transmission characteristic is obtained a in Fig. ii depending on the inclination of the surface 11 in Fig. 5, a modification approximately in the sense of line b in FIG. 11 learns.
Since total reflection is known to occur at a sharply defined critical angle occurs solely due to the jump in the refractive index on the light exit side of the material is determined, the prismatic grid receives the property of the light rays with undesired Separate angles of inclination before hitting the photocell, where the critical angle of inclination can be chosen freely according to the points of view presented. To also the angle of inclination of the Side and from below incident light rays in In a similar way, you can have multiple parallel prism grids with different Orientation can be switched one after the other.
However, a solution that is often sufficient in practice arises when if the angle of the rays incident laterally and from below through the hitherto usual grid are limited. F i g. 6 shows an embodiment of this kind. Then the beam limiter upstream of the photocell 6 consists of the cover plate 14, the transparent plate 15 with the parallel bores 16, the inner walls are appropriately blackened, and the prism grid plate 9 with the related with Fig. 5 explained features.
A structural simplification can be achieved in that the Plate 15 with the parallel holes with the prism grid plate to a single one is united. Instead of the parallel bores, a parallel grid can also be used Art used and combined with the prism grid plate to form a unit, as in Fig. 7 shown. The plate 9 'is for example with the incisions 17 and 18 are provided on the incoming light side, while on the outgoing light side the prism grid with the differently inclined surfaces 10 and 11 attached is.
The teaching of the present invention is also applicable to light limiting devices applicable with lens louvre. The embodiment shown in Fig. 8 consists of the lens grid 19, the limiting plate 20 with parallel holes 21 and the Board 22 with corresponding rectangular openings 23, behind which the photocell 6 is located. The individual lenses of the lens grid design in the plane of the board real images of the scene to be recorded. According to the invention, the rectangular breakouts 23 arranged in such a way that they correspond to image excerpts from the real images the environment 4 in Fig. 3 hide. The rectangular breakouts are then eccentric to the optical axis of the lenticular lenses. This device also provides a transmission characteristic according to FIG. 3.
Even complex delimiters with multiple lenticular screens can be improved in the manner according to the invention. This is especially true for a photoelectric exposure meter consisting of one of the photosensitive Layer upstream optics consists, in whose focal length a field of the image Lens limiting aperture is arranged, and patent application Z7182IX / 42h (German Auslegeschrift 1 157 404) an additional changeable, in one image level the upstream objective pupil arranged diaphragm is provided as an aperture diaphragm is, wherein the aperture delimiting the field of view of the lens is eccentric to the optical Axis of the upstream optics.
A preferred embodiment of this type is shown in FIG. 9 in section shown. The converging lens 24 in the mount 25 generated in the plane of the rectangular diaphragm 26 a real picture. With a variable iris diaphragm is referred to, the one continuous control of the luminous flux is permitted and also as a control element for an aperture control which can be adjusted automatically by the photocell 6 can be used can. 28 is a ground glass screen, 30 is an internally mirrored shaft that holds everything from the screen through The photocell 6 supplies light left. Is essential even with this arrangement, the eccentric mounting of the rectangular diaphragm, which the inventive transmission characteristic generated. The arrangement also has the Advantage that even with a small area of the photocell 6 good proportionality between the area of the passage opening of the diaphragm 27 and that received by the photocell Luminous flux exists.
Another application example that focuses on a light meter with upstream telecentric optics is shown in Fig.lO. The device consists of the converging lens 31 in which acts as a sun visor Socket 32, the iris diaphragm 33 and a diverging lens provided with a prismatic grid 34, behind which the photocell 6 is located. The preferably plano-convex converging lens 31 and, apart from the prism grid, planoconcave diverging lens 34 act like a diminutive, telecentric system together that is expedient in that way It is spherically corrected that the surface 36 of the diverging lens is aspherical Area is designed. In this way it is achieved that the light beam within the diverging lens 34 is exactly telecentric, so that that of the lens 34 is impressed Prism grid with transparent surfaces 37 and blackened surfaces 38 as before acts described and limits the angle of inclination of the incident light rays 39. The photocell 6 receives more light through the selected telecentric beam path than without the lens system. With the help of the aperture is the luminous flux that the photocell reached, continuously adjustable, and the critical angle for the vertically incident Rays is independent of the size of the aperture. The light limitation in horizontal direction results from the respectively selected dimensions of the lens system. The arrangement according to FIG. 10 has the advantage of being sharply defined Vertical limitation with a powerful optical system and a continuous one To be able to perform aperture control. One such system is for photographic and cinematographic apparatus with automatic, light-dependent aperture control particularly suitable.
The described arrangements all relate to the normal case, that the backlight enters the exposure meter at an angle from above. But even then if the backlight enters from the side or even from below, they retain Arrangements their effectiveness if according to a further feature of the invention for it it is taken care that either the whole light meter or at least the light limiter rotatably mounted in the light meter housing or in the camera. The user then has the option of turning the light limiter to reduce the incidence of light in the direction from which the backlight is incident.
