Two-legged wire stripping pliers for executing a helical one

the ends of the conductors are stripped of the insulation and bent out. It is

can. A number of wire strippers have become known, but all of them have the
Disadvantage of complicated construction and therefore cumbersome to handle and in
are very expensive to buy. In addition, it is more familiar with all wire strippers
Design, just like with the cable knife, damage to the insulation or conductor and
thus breakdowns and accidents are possible. With the well-known wire strippers
only limited line and cable diameters are recorded, so that
every fitter is forced to carry several such pliers with him at all times.
In order to remedy these inconveniences, wire strippers became known,
which work on the principle of a thread cutting tool. Such tools are
tubular, are attached to the conductor, and laterally engaging in the pipe section
Knives cut into the insulation by rotating them. With another
known construction, a spiral cut is made with a pair of pliers
executed in the conductor insulation, but there is the disadvantage that the cutting slope
is not adjustable. Thus, such a tool is only available for one particular person at a time
Line or cable diameter usable. With the multitude of line and cable diameters
an amount of tools corresponding to this number is required, which is very
is uneconomical. Another construction is circular and
Make cuts running in the axial direction of the conductor or cable. The in
Axially running cut, however, requires considerable effort,
it must be repeated several times until the conductor insulation is penetrated,
which takes so much time that such a tool is uneconomical. aside from that
the fitter working with such pliers must have two directions of force at the same time
consider. The legs of the pliers must be pressed together firmly
the conductor is not damaged, however, and the pliers must be pulled in the axial direction
will. It is very difficult and inconvenient.
All of the disadvantages shown become apparent with a two-legged wire stripper
for making a helical cut with guides for the inserted
Cable fixed in that, according to the invention, the upper guide on one of the pliers legs
is designed as a stop lever to which a cutting knife is attached laterally
is that in the pliers plane at any angle to the lever and in its height
is adjustable.
Abisolierzange, Fig. 2 und 3 Teilansichten von Fig. 1.The subject of the invention is shown in an exemplary manner in the drawing
Embodiment shown, namely Fig. 1 shows a side view of an inventive
Stripping pliers, FIGS. 2 and 3 partial views of FIG. 1.
an.
In gleicher
In Fig. 1 guide rods 2 are mechanically firmly connected to a base plate 3. The pliers handles 4 and 16 have a bore 5 through which the two pliers handles 4 and 16 are rotatably connected to one another. On an angled part 6 of the pliers handle 4 there is a nose 7 which penetrates the base plate 3. A threaded hole 8 in the angled part 6 of the pliers handle 4 is above a hole 9 in the base plate 3. By loosening the wing screw, the base plate 3 with guide rods 2 can be rotated at any angle 11 (FIG. 2). In order to secure both parts, pincer handle 4 and base plate 3, against automatic rotation, the nose 7 then engages in bores 12, 13 or 24. The screw 15 is rotatably mounted on the pliers handle 16 at point 17. On the pliers handle 16 there is a stop 18 which, when the pliers are closed, is supported on the cable or line insulation. At the angle 19 (FIG. 3) to the stop 18 is the knife 20, which can be designed to be pivotable at angles 19 and 25 and lockable in any position. The position of the knife 20 within this angle indicates the spiral slope of the cut. The knife 20 can also be pivoted about the axis 21 at an angle 22 and can be locked in any position. This determines the cutting depth and adjusts the knife in such a way that any insulation layers are cut through without the bare conductor itself being damaged. A knurled nut or wing nut 23 or the like is screwed onto the screw 15, so that the fitter cannot change the cutting depth during the work process. The idea of the invention is not abandoned in that a compression spring is arranged on the screw 15 in such a way that sector-shaped conductors can also be stripped. The stop 18 can also be under the influence of a compression spring, so that profile conductors such as sector conductors can also be stripped in this way. Both the base plate 3 and the knife 20 can be arranged to be adjustable. This adjustability makes it possible to strip conductors with any cross-section. The construction according to the invention is also suitable for shaping profile-shaped conductors, such as sector conductors, in a simple manner to be round. In this case the knife 20 is pivoted in the direction 22 so that it cannot make an incision. The pliers are then only rotated around the conductor 1 under the influence of the stop 18 and the guide rods 2. In the same way, the subject matter of the invention is suitable for cutting or bending insulating tubes. In the case of bending, the knife is switched off in direction 22 and the insulating tube is bent by pressing on the stop. A multiplicity of impressions of the stop 18 determines the direction of the curvature of the insulating tube. The invention includes replacing the knife 20 with a saw, as a result of which the pliers can be used both for stripping and for cutting conductors and cables 1. In this way, the subject matter of the invention is also suitable for removing lead and corrugated sheaths, where the cutting depth can of course be adjusted just as precisely as when stripping. The stripping process is described as follows: The cable which is to be stripped is inserted into the pliers so far that the knife 20 hits the point up to which the cable is to be set down. The knife 20 is at right angles to the guide rods 2. The pliers handles 4, 16 are compressed so far that the knife 20 cuts the cable insulation to a little more than half. The wing nut 23 is set to this cutting depth and the pliers are rotated once around the cable. The base plate 3 is then loosened from the pliers handle 4 by means of a wing screw and adjusted in such a way that the guide rods 2 are no longer at right angles to the knife 20 . The wing screw is then tightened again and the pliers rotated around the cable until it leaves it. A helical cut was made and the insulation is now detached from the cable following this cut. The idea of the invention is not abandoned if, instead of the base plate 3 with its guide rods 2, the knife 20 is arranged to be adjustable in angle in order to be able to carry out the helical cut.
