A cable stripper comprises a cylindrical member A having a central bore a to receive the cable B and a cutting blade a<SP>2</SP> projecting into the bore, the blade and the end face a<SP>1</SP> of the cylinder to which it is permanently secured being inclined to the axis of the cylinder, and the cutting edge of the blade lying in a plane parallel to the face a<SP>1</SP> and being sharpened at an angle of 35-45 degrees to the plane of the blade. The member A may be mounted in a holder C having handles D by which the tool is rotated to form a helical cut in the cable sheath.
