Description
The invention relates to a method for producing a Si / SiO x / C composite, comprising a core of silicon and at least one shell of silicon oxide and carbon and the use of this composite as anode material in lithium-ion batteries.
Rechargeable lithium ion batteries are key components for portable electronics and electronic devices in the world today. The rapid development of these devices also increases the demand for lithium ion batteries with high energy density and long life cycles. High energy density lithium ion batteries require a high storage capacity and coulombic efficiency electrode material. Graphite and LiCoO 2 are commonly used in such lithium-ion batteries (typical Coulomb efficiency> 90%) but have relatively low capacities (372 and 145 mAhg -1, respectively). In the last decade, various anode materials with improved storage capacity and thermal stability have been proposed for lithium ion batteries to replace commercially used graphite materials. Among these, silicon has attracted much interest as a potential substitute, in particular, with promising properties such as the largest theoretical capacity (Li 4.4 Si, ~ 4200 mAhg -1 ) among all known materials, abundance, low cost and greater safety compared to graphite (Si) However, the practical use of Si powders as anodes in lithium-ion batteries continues to be hampered by two major problems, a low intrinsic electrical conductivity and a low level of electrical potential the large changes in volume during the Li insertion / extraction process, which translates into poor rechargeability, and great efforts have been made to address these issues by reducing particle size the silicon-based thin films or silicon-metal mixtures used, silicon dispersions in an inactive / active matrix or carbon coating, as well as various electrolyte systems. A variety of active / inactive mixtures have been used, with the inactive component acting as a structural buffer to minimize the mechanical stress due to the large volume changes of the active silicon. This is to prevent the wear of the electrodes. Recent work in this field has shown that anodes of silicon / carbon mixtures are able to combine the beneficial properties of carbon (high number of charge cycles) and silicon (high lithium storage capacity) and overall improve the anode electrochemical performance for lithium ion batteries.
The Object of the present invention was a simple and Sustainable process for the coating of silicon nanoparticles which, moreover, opposite the conventional complex high-temperature process, too Anode materials with improved lithium storage performance with regard to high, reversible storage capacity, excellent Cycle performance and high turnover rate leads.
Surprisingly, it has now been found that a simultaneous coating of silicon nanoparticles with a thin layer of SiO 2 and carbon by utilizing the hydrothermal carbonization of sugars leads to Si / SiO x / C nanocomposites, which are used as anode material over the angege has improved properties.

Es zeigen:in the The following is the invention with reference to an embodiment be explained in more detail. Show it:
The ability of lithium storage of pure silicon nanoparticles and Si / SiO x / C nano-composite electrodes has been studied in different electrolyte systems. The measurements were carried out with and without vinylene carbonate (VC) in the electrolyte (VC is still regarded as the best reagent for the formation of passivating films on the surfaces of electrode materials, especially in carbon materials).
The Voltage plateau of both electrodes in VC-containing electrolyte by 50 mV lower than for those electrodes in VC-free electrolyte were cycled (note that the initial discharge capacity also lower in the same voltage window) indicates higher resistance of the Li insertion into the Si. The cause of this is probably again in the higher Resistance of the VC-containing electrolyte formed enclosing layer to search.
These results clearly show that SiO x / C and also VC play an important role in improving the electrochemical performance of silicon electrodes.
